Surprising gem close to the heart of Khao San”
I’ve stayed at At Home twice now while travelling, not just because it’s extremely good value, but also because it ticks all the boxes for a temporary stay in Bangkok - clean comfortable bed, secure room, safe location and above all else, a really decent hot shower. Had my own room, but with shared toilets and bathrooms (rarely had to wait to use them), with a perfect shower! The wifi was occasionally a bit iffy, but that can happen anywhere. At Home is located down a side street parallel to Thanon Tanao (Tanao Road), which is at the Burger King (eastern) end of Khao San Road, so more than close enough to all the action, without being buried in it. The rooms are basic - no air-con, just big fans - but clean and private. The laundry service was one of the best I’ve used in three months of travelling. And finally the restaurant food was exemplary. At Home is a no-frills guesthouse, but with a lot of attention to detail. Recommended!
Close To But Far Enough Away From Khosan Road”
We stayed here for two nights in a standard double fan room. The fan was absolutely not enough for the two nights, it was extremely humid and made it difficult to sleep. As far as I'm aware, the hostel does offer a/c rooms so I would definitely recommend that. The hostel provides one key, a roll of toilet paper and a towel per guest. It is perfectly situated down a street just across from the beginning of the Kohsan Road. There is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant either side of the hostel. On our 3rd night in Bangkok we stayed in a hotel on the Kohsan Road and didn't get a wink of sleep so I would highly recommend this place, it's basic but perfect for the everyday traveller just looking to experience Bangkok, just make sure you ask for aircon!
very very good place”
We arrived in Bangkok after midnight so we just wanted a cheap but comfortable place to stay one night. We were happy to find a room for such a good price but we were a bit worried, mainly about how clean (or unclean) a cheap place may be. At first the staff seemed unfriendly but that turned out to be untrue! They were indeed very kind and helped carry our bags to the room and checked back to see if we liked it. The room had hot water and an air conditioner. It was refeshing. It's very close to Khao San Road, however it's not too loud. We were able to sleep peacefully. My wife ended up leaving her favorite shirt behind after we had already checked out and gone to a new place. We went back the next day to look for it and were happy to find they were kind enough to hold on to it. Great place, nicely priced, would recommend!
Peaceful place near Khaosan Road”
Very clean and great value for the price. We took a fan room and it was comfortable enough with the windows open. While it was 2 minutes walking distance from the busy Khaosan Road, the sounds from the bar music was very faint and it was a relaxed place to stay. The restaurant they own at the main ground floor was a great place to do work on my laptop. I ordered a drink and they let me stay there till 2am!
Great place to stay!”
great location( just off khaosan road), clean facilities and bedrooms, friendly staff, laundry service. What i really liked was having my own private room for the price of a dorm bed. I had a fan room which made a little noise, but that was perfect for me because i am a light/fuzzy sleeper and you can hear somewhat the noise of khoasan road and the noise of the fan cancelled that out and actually made me fall asleep pretty fast. I would definitely recommend this place!
@Home is OK for the price I paid but nothing special. Not a place I'll remember but good enough if you're on a budget and want to stay close to Khaosan Road. Speaking of budget, if you want to eat and drink cheaper than on Khaosan, go to the next road, Soi Rambuttri. There was pretty decent WiFi and the aircon worked fine. Staff was friendly.
Good but be aware of the noise ”
+top location right at the khaosan Road... It does mean it is really noisy until 2am when they kill the music... +the downstairs sitting area is nice and good to chill and meet others +always someone at the reception and they do laundry too +clean and comfy beds - no extra toilets so when your buddy is in the shower you gotta hold in - a/c didn't work too well -poor lighting in our room -instant coffee for sale... We extended a night and enjoyed our stay, bring your own cup and instant coffee and you'll get better and cheaper since they are happy to give hot water for free If you want to be right in the middle it's a good place
If you love Khaosan as much as I do, then this is a good choice. It is just a 5-minute walk away from Khaosan Road but still peaceful. If you are planning to travel to or from Bangkok via Giant Ibiz bus, the pick up and drop off point is just a 5-minute walk as well. I enjoyed my stay here. Will stay here again in my next visit.
Great location with a lot of sightseeing possibilities in the area”
Internet worked well. The room was OK. The guest house is alright as well. Alone because of the Ethos restaurant, which is located close the the guest house, I would stay there again, when I need to be in this area of Bangkok.
Great location and friendly staff”
It’s a stones throw away from Khaosan Road but far enough away that you can get a good night’s sleep. The staff are friendlier then most in Bangkok and although the room was pretty basic, it was clean and good value for money.
Clean, well run, and great location”
I have been staying at At Home guesthouse for many, many years.Rooms are quiet and basic (fan, a/c, small room, larger room, shared bathroom options) and hotel is very clean and well run. It is a very good option for the crazy Khao San area - close enough but away from the noise and madness.
Fantastic location, fantastic staff”
The guesthouse was kept super clean, the staff really friendly and helpful. Location was great, just a minute walk to Khaosan road but just further enough away so it was a quiet and chilled area outside the guesthouse. The restaurant next door was fantastic with cheap meals and shakes, definitely worth a visit! All in all was a great place and would definitely recommend to a variety of different travellers who want to visit the crazy Khaosan road but want peace and quiet for a good sleep!
Great location, good value”
The hotel is very close to Kaosan road yet it's very quiet as it's not on the main street so no noise from busy road or crazy pubs. Very quiet indeed. Guests are not allowed to wear shoes inside the building. You need to take off your shoes and carry them to your room. I think it's very good idea as it keeps the floor very clean. No litter or messy stuff around. I like everything except the blanket as it's very thin (very similar to those when you are on airplane). I was very cold and the low quality blanket didn't make my first night thete very pleasant. The second night was much better when I asked for extra blanket. You can enjoy the morning market (6 -8 am) in Banglampoo which is very close to the hotel as well. There you can see local Thais giving food to monks and eating easy breakfast from street venders. Very recommended!
Close to the action”
Booked a private room for two travellers with shared bathroom for 1 night. Pros - 1 minute from khaosan road and so close to cheap food, drinks, and nightlife. Amazing vegetarian restaurant next door. - walking distance from Grand Palace and jetty for boat taxi to attractions like Wat Arun - cheap Cons - room had fan only (altho aircon was available for +200 baht). Fan was not enough for the heat and made for a sweaty sleep - no toilet roll or soap Room was fine for one night but would have needed a room with aircon for any longer. I would stay here again and upgrade to aircon.
Suuuper good location”
khao san road is suuper near but we still have a peaceful sleep since the guest house is in another street. The malls and market is kinda far but the royal palace is walking distance. Also, there is a bus stop near with S1 bus that goes straight to the airport.
Best staff we've ever met”
The hotel has an amazing queen size bed, brilliant for us and our 1 year old. The electric shower is hot, and the AC is cold. The laundry service is fast and clean. So close to Khao San Road, and yet really quiet. In terms of room amenities it's fairly basic, some shower gel and toilet paper is about it but the highlight is definitely the staff. Amazingly friendly people, they loved to play with our son, were very helpful with directions etc. And when my partner got drugged at a bar, the night staff were so helpful, they even looked after my son whilst I looked after my partner! Would recommend this hotel to anyone, but especially to those with children. Enjoy Bangkok!
Good location, price is ok, timed internet”
We stayed here for 3 days/2 nights, the hotel is located at the end of khaosan rd. (At the back of the building where there Burger King is). Our room was at the 3rd floor, no elevator, they dont offer free water refill or hot water. The internet has time schedule so it was really a naaay for us because we are out the whole day then we cant even use the internet at night to plan or search stuffs. We booked our bus to Siem Reap from them and it was a major fail, they booked us to a bad bus company that is scamming tourist in Cambodia. The good thing about this place was the towel provided in the room, the water connection was good, clean room, bed and hallway. The location is good if you want to stay near Khaosan rd but also need a good quiet place for sleeping. A minute walk to Khaosan only.
If you want to stay close to the Khao San Road this a good place to stay at. It is in a quite side road. Everything has been clean and tidy. The staff was not overwhelming friendly but if you had a question, they always helped us out. Their Englisch ist okay. The AC was a bit noisy but without it's way to hot in Bangkok (at least in March) but we have been able to sleep and the bed was comfy. We only ate breakfast there for one time, was good. But it seems like. It a lot of people eat their, at least we never saw somebody eating :D In general if your looking for an simple place to sleep, this is good way to go.
Love this place! It was very clean and the hostel is right next to a nice restaurant (Vegetable one or something). Easy access to everything and you don't hear any loud music from Khaosan road at night
Good for one night”
We spent there one night before leaving to Koh Kood early in the morning from the neighbor street. Khaosan is beginning at this guesthouse, there is much quieter than at those at the street itself but still noisy.
