Japanese Style
Stayed 4 nights in February 2013
Very large rooms with a nice communal hot spring.”
Traditional Japanese Breakfast in the morning, heaters in rooms, friendly staff
We stayed here for four nights. It was a little bit difficult to communicate, as the owner only spoke Japanese, but she was very lovely and let us leave our luggage early and late on our starting and finishing days respectively. The hot spring baths were great, but the outdoor section was only running on days when it wasn't snowing. Showering is a communal Japanese style, so prepare to get naked around other people! The location is excellent, and it only takes about a 10 minute walk to the Happo-one slopes, or a 15 minute walk all the way to the gondola. Staying here also gives you a discount at spicy rentals (50 metres away). The futons were a bit thin, but if you pile two on top of each other you will get some western comfort with the Japanese style. I recommend this place for any couples or groups who want to spend their evenings in, and have a really relaxed atmosphere.
