      Clean neat cheap Japanese Hotel”

      Neat tidy older hotel with friendly staff. Room has shared toilet and shower is in the onsen, but the room is large and comfortable, with lovely warm doonas, tatami mats and comfortable futon. The onsen is small but a nice temperature. Food has been great so far. Location is the only drawback as it's 2km from the station. Not many trains stop at the station, so plan your days around the timetable.

      great old fashioned japanese experience ”

      even though location was a little tricky as the closest train station is 30 min walk (and no other public transportation) the hotel has a free shuttle service you can just ask for - to the station and back! the room was very spacious traditional japanese style with amazing view of kiso valley. also is is a walk away fromatera gorge which is beautiful for a day trip. staff are amazing too and really look after everything you need (including making sure the driver of the shuttle stops at the convenience store for you to buy groceries). the are also a couple of soba restaurants around.

      We arrived late but one of the staff members offered to drive us to a nearby convenience store for food. Very helpful! Room was clean and excellent value for money with the onsen available too
