Initially booked Athenaeum Grand but was redirected to Athenaeum Palace, which was equally fantastic hotel located just about 150m adjacent. Location is very convenient with bus stop just outside the hotel, 24hrs convenient store and metro is just 3 stops away. The room was awesome!! New amenities and also comes with a handy which is VERY useful for tourist not having data on your mobile. Breakfast was a simple spread but was more than enough to keep us satisfied; you couldn't ask for more. And the most importantly and the best part of the stay is the STAFF!! Oh yes, they have the friendliest staff of whole Greece :) From their guest relation staff to front office staff and their porter, is the most friendliest and most helpful bunch of people you could ever ask for!! We would give every single star to all of them and the service they provided. Most recommended to stay.
My cousin and I had booked our room at the Grand hôtel and we were upgraded to the Palace. It was amazing. Perfect location and the staff was pleasant. Joanna was very helpful, always smiling; she gave us great ideas of where to eat and visit in Athens. If my travels take me back to Athens, I will stay at the Athenaeum Palace again.
Great Hotel and helpful friendly staff”
What a winner. We stayed at the Athenaeum Grand Hotel for six nights and it was excellent. Our room was the Penthouse on floor seven with stunning views. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.
Gorgeous and spacious rooms, really affordable!”
We stayed at Athenaeum Palace Suites for 3D2N. We loved the spacious rooms - each room had a large bed, and 2 sofas. The bathroom was clean and showers were nice and hot. The wifi coverage was excellent. Breakfast was decent. The staff were really lovely and kind. Definitely recommended. Just note, Athenaeum Group has 2 locations which are situated about 500m away from each other. We booked the hotel under Athenaeum Grand, but were relocated to Athenaeum Palace Suites when we arrived. It is also about a 30 minute drive to the heart of the city.
Clean hotel at great location”
We were here for 2 days from the US. We got a very good price for th hotel so we did not expect much. However, the hotel and its staff impress us so much. The bellman who helped us on our first night, 10/13, was extra helpful. The front desk person and even the driver was so nice. The room that we ended up stayed was in the Athanaeum Palace was newer and clean. Breakfast was awsome. Their mini bread was a bomb. We will stay here again if we come to Athens.
Staff were very helpful stunning hotel don’t be put of by the main road I have been to Athens many times but this was first time in the fix area you are very close to all attractions I was able to walk to them as I no Athens but they have a shuttle service and the metro station is about a 10 min walk
Great rooms, nice place, 10 minute walk to the heart of Athens”
I loved the hotel and the stay. The only complaint I have is the lack of organization upon arriving to the port with the ferry and the lack of communication for my shuttle. I recommend reaching out far in advance for this. When I showed up, the driver didn't even know he was picking me up when I had talked to the hotel clerk 3 times and then they brought me to the wrong location because they have two properties within a block of each other. one is called Grand and one is called Palace so make sure you clarify which you are at. Other than that which was a bad taste in my mouth for the start of the trip, the views are incredible, the food is good and the staff is nice. It just seems like they can use some more organization in how they run certain things.
We did not stay at the booked hotel but were transferred to their newer sister hotel, the Athenaeum Palace Hotel. Transport had to be by taxi
Day 1: disappointing arrival and first night, day 2-4: nice experience”
We had booked a standard room at the A.G.H. Because of our late arrival, we phoned upfront to inform to expect us around 11 p.m. On arrival, we were told that we had booked a room at the sister hotel Athenaeum Luxury Suites. We showed our reservation, which was as stated for the A.G.H. We were then informed that the hotel was fully booked, but that we would receive a room at the Luxury Suites. After clarifying, that we were not willing to change, the receptionist said that the room at the sister hotel was nicer (a Suite) & offered us a dinner as well. We agreed to change, only to discover that the Suite was a regular room (it might have been named Suite, but with ca. 25 sqm was clearly not) without direct daylight (window showed to indoor corridor and other rooms!!!) and that the kitchen was closed. Why not tell us directly, that the A.G.H. was overbooked,we would have to stay for one night in the other hotel, and could move back the day after instead of basically lying to us?
We were moved to a different hotel without providing a reason”
We made a reservation to Athenaeum Grand Hotel and when we arrived at the hotel we were simply moved to a different hotel, without explanation. The second hotel was Smart Hotel, part of their network, still 4* they say, but was inferior in all the ways. Smaller hotel, less equipped, noisy rooms (you can hear the loud traffic outside and the neighbors next door), cleaning crew making rounds around 10-11 pm with no respect for the quiet time. Breakfast was ok. Small rooms, but clean.
Pros: the staff were very helpful, the breakfast was yummy and varied, the room was clean; we also had an outdoor, screened-in terrace of sorts that gave us extra space. Cons: the neighborhood was a bit sketchy, but really most of Athens looks the same way!
Nice stay and Central located!!”
Stayed for business reasons ,two nights. The staff was very helpful and the location was perfect, central and very convenient for me . For sure I ll choose it again if I ll visit Athens !
Perfect place ”
Location is good and the staff is very helpful will stay there again if we go back to Athens
The hotel was adequate on our first stay. Upon our return 2 weeks later we had a terrible experienc.”
When checking out after our first visit, I noted that the room was fine however our view was the side wall of the”gentlemen’s “ club next door. When we returned on May 31, 2018 after 11:00 pm, we were told that because of our previous experience we were being transferred to the sister hotel where we were to be given a luxury room. We had already arranged with a driver to meet us at the Grand to take us to the airport at 8:30 the next morning, June 1st. Upon our arrival at the other hotel we had to wait in the lobby for approximately 30 minuets. As it turned out, it was apparent when we finally got into the room that it had just been cleaned as the floor was still wet. Additionally, paint was chipping off along the baseboards, the room was actually smaller than the room at the Grand, and it was necessary to lay our luggage on the floor since the room didn’t even have a luggage rack. Needless to say, this room wasn’t even as nice as the room at the Grand and the view was of the balco
We did not stay at the ATHENS UM GRAND. We were told they were overbooked and were transferred to another Athens um hotel down the street. Very disappointing
This was a last minute booking and was not so close to the hectic part of Athens, rather it was close to Kalithea. I was able to get a massage for 10 euro which was a bargain and the location was close to the beach areas and Vonglia lake which was amazing. The room was spacious with a huge verandah and bathroom and good service from the staff and the room service. Located close to strip clubs which pleased my friends who stayed across the way at the newer hotel.
Excellent choice. Large rooms and shuttle on daily basis”
- Large clean and new rooms with all facilities - Free shuttle on daily basis hourly 2 ways either to Acropolis (center and also shopping area pr museum on walking distance ) or sea side - Great breakfast buffet - Reception are really helpful and welcoming - They provide a handy mobile to use wherever you go with free internet and international calls Highly recommend this hotel
Good location and clean room. Walking distance to metro. Near central. We stayed in this hotel on 2 occasions and were offered 2 different rooms on second and fifth floor. One downside is if you're staying on the lower floors you might be able to hear passing vehicles at night. The windows doesnt seem to be soundproof.
This hotel completely exceeded my expectations. We arranged transport from the hotel and they were on time and professional. Once we arrived, we were greeted with a welcome beverage and smiles from all the staff. We were upgraded to a Jr. Suite which was a welcomed surprise. Staff was helpful in recommending restaurants, tours and places to go. I cannot recommend this place any more. If it's available, book it.
Clean, polite and helpful staff, great breakfast”
From the minute we checked in, the staff were extremely polite and helpful towards us. They showed us how to travel to and from the major attractions and back to the hotel. A very decent breakfast in the morning was sych a plus. Also we stayed in a very clean and spacious room on the 5th floor. They even have free transfers to the Acropolis! Definitely recommend :)
