Beautiful hotel, Awesome Staff, Great location ”
I think the title says it all: Beautiful hotel, Awesome Staff, Great location. J fell in love with the beauty of this hotel as soon as we walked in. Felt luxurious. Every single person we interacted with was helpful and kind. The suite was large and clean. My boys were amazed. (We may need to stay in suites more often! 😂) Ordered room service. Angela, the woman who took our order, was wonderful! She had the best personality! Kudos to her. Food was excellent. My kids devoured the gourmet Mac n cheese! And I thought they only liked it out of the box! 😂 I’m going to mention two things — for awareness purposes—nothing that would take away any stars. It was loud location—outside. Inside was perfect, but outside you could hear revving engines and loud music for much of the night. I’m not dumb, I know that’s the area we were in — Greektown Casino and cruising downtown in flashy cars. :) That’s why I’m not taking away a star. Just a heads up for people who aren’t there to gamble or party. (We were in town for Mother’s Day. A lunch cruise on the Detroit Princess Riverboat and enjoying downtown.) :) Second thing was retrieving car from valet. My advice: go old-school and hand your ticket to a valet person. :) I used the text service printed on the ticket I was given and sent a message from my hotel room. Got a confirmation right away that they received my message and would text when car was ready. We packed up our stuff and checked out. Waited outside for 20 minutes before I got another text saying the service was not available. They were really busy!! I’m not knocking the guys working their butts off. But after being out there taking to a few of the guys between car delivery, someone could have said—are you still waiting or let me grab your ticket. I had to go back into the hotel and tell someone at the front desk what happened. After that, an attendant grabbed my ticket right away. It was my fault for using the text service! But I thought I’d give a heads up. Go ol
Pay attention to substance rather than show,.”
The exterior and the lobby looks glamorous. The suite was spacious and clean. The bedding was extremely comfortable. However, several things made a somewhat negative impression. 1. The bathroom is separated from the sleeping area by a glass block wall. Light from this area shines through the glass and lights up the sleeping area. This could be very disruptive for someone trying to sleep. 2. The bathtub was long and deep allowing an extremely comfortable soak. However, getting in and out of the tub was difficult for this 73 year old man with a bad knee. Some type of grab bar would have made the use of the tub easier and safer. 3. The remote for the TV in the sitting area did not work well. 4. The restaurant menu in this room was a poorly copied couple of sheets of paper that were stapled in a manner that presented the information upside down. Very difficult to read. Also unclear if the restaurant would be open for breakfast on Sunday morning. 5. Parking is conveniently located across the street. Considering the price of the room, the cost of parking should be included in the room. A money saving suggestion would be to use ParkWhiz to prepay for parking on an app. 6. The spacious closet lacked an adequate number of hangers for four people staying in a suite with two queen beds. 7. This being my first stay at this hotel, I wondered if the rate had been increased because of the running of the Detroit Free Press Marathon on Sunday morning. 8. 5star pricing with 3-4star quality.
Overnight stay for Opera House show”
This was our first time in downtown Detroit. We came in for a show at the Opera House and I chose this hotel due to great reviews and location. I was very pleasantly surprised that it was even better than I expected! Very clean, large, beautiful room! The staff were wonderful and it was right across from parking on one side, access to the People Mover on the other. Close to many food options, but also easy to hop the rail to get to our show - though we could've walked or taken the hotel shuttle. The entire experience made for wonderful weekend away with my husband. I would definitely stay here again.
Great Stay for the Lions game”
Great room & incredible staff. The lobby however was completely overwhelmed by music at 250 decibels. Everyone had to scream at each other to be heard. The hotel staff couldn't hear a word that any of the guests were saying at check in. I couldn't hear anything but the over-bearing music & DJ who was very impressed with his ability to clear a room. All of the guests simply wanted out of the lobby as fast as possible. You would triple your bar revenue if you ditched the DJ. Or just have him cut the volume by 70% so people could talk with each other, communicate effectively with the front desk at check in. My group of 20 intended to pregame party in the lobby bar. But it was way to loud so we walked across the street & ran up a $800 bar tab. That $$ should have never left your hotel. You shoukd Fire the DJ & rake in $$.
Great for a our group”
The hotel was clean and the room was very large and well set up. The first room we were assigned smelled strongly of cigarettes but the front desk was very accommodating and moved us to a room that was in perfect condition
