Better than the rest in a quieter area”
We booked for 2 nights but ended up staying 5. Really peaceful location on the river with excellent staff. Even our small budget room had everything we needed. Breakfast was superb with a good choice. The beautiful teak building and decor are something special. Although further from the main sites than some places these were in easy reach by bikes or tuktuk. Also some of the more atmospheric minor temples and ruins are right next to the guesthouse. These are brilliant and you will usually have them to yourself. The area is an extensive public park with some great wildlife. Although set back from the main road this is a very busy and dangerous highway. The only shops and restaurants require walking along this road. There are also some aggressive dogs around the entrance (these appear to be a problem everywhere in Ayutthaya). Being so far out of town we think the price could be a little lower or the rather old single gear bicycles could free to use rather than 100 baht each per day.
Nice thai style teakwood house”
Nice atmosphere in traditional teakwood house. Budget rooms are a quite basic, but that's what you pay for. Nicest rooms are in the main building and two separated bungalows. Breakfast is basic with eggs, toast and jam, coffee & tea.
far from city and must have a car or motorcycle in transportation”
The TV in room is not able to watch , and next day when I ask for 12:30 for check out and the owner denied . when we check out to the counter, the owner(male) were lay down on his coach and did not stand up. At night is quite noisy because of close to the river, the motor driven boats are making very big engine sound and wake up several times.
We loved the unique style of the home and the location next to the water. There are 2 bathrooms with showers to share but I don't think there were other guests staying at that time. We booked an evening boat cruise through the guest house and it was very good as well. We would stay there again.
Forget your swanky boutique hotels as here you are priveleged to be a guest in a genunue thai style wooden home beside the river. Father and daughter run the hotel with just 6 bedrooms and a cool cafe. Great price and had free bikes to visit temples too. Great experience.
Its my second time in Ayuttaya also that homestay, its amazing place to stay, good value for the quality, there have amazing different's kind of views like front of the river also you have the views of the 3 differents church catholic musulim and thai temple in just one view, the sunset is unbelievable overthere i had a great time and really good feelings on this place. Thank you for that experience.
Perfect, The best”
This without doubt are the best place to stay in Ayuttaya, I had an incredible experience and satisfaction in this place, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, an incredible vision of the river, the construction and architecture that place is fantastic, good breakfast and nice place to have a chilling beers in the end of day, thats really close to the main tourist places and night spots, all the people I met over there was very happy and always willing to help. thank you for this incredible time there
Very nice hostel, beautiful Thai house, clean and neat”
Highly recommended for relaxation by the river! Location is not quite walkable to the center of sightseeing, but there are tuk-tuk, bicycle, and motorbike you can travel around the city. Staffs are friendly and helpful. I really love this place, nice windy and chilling, peaceful hostel. Price is a bit higher than others but worth it.
This hotel, I definitely recommend everyone to stay if you would like to attach yourself to the atmosphere of Ayutthaya as an ancient city and know more how Thai people live in the old day.
not suite with who like to travel by themself ”
we are travelly by ourself this place not suite with ppl dont hv car.. we booked for a night. this place is nice and traditional design. when we arrived their we have to wait for 30mins bcuz only housekeeper there. no reception and hard to reach you have to take the Tuk-Tuk (150THB from railway station) not easy to take bikecycle trip cuz quite far from the landmark.. you have to called to Tuk-Tuk by yourself for yourtrip (200Thb/hr .. we took 2hrs for whole area) they have nice showerroom.
I've never experienced more value for the money. Beautiful property with accommodating staff! ”
The owner and his daughter were so accommodating helping me with my bags up the stairs. Introducing me to all facilities and offering to set up travel to any attractions or terminal I may need during my stay. Anyone who gives less than perfect scores for this property, given it's location and price, deserves to have their opinions removed!
Good view closed the river.”
Good view and closed the river. Quiet and clean but room is small and tv couldn't use. Good wifi. Bed is very high from floor ,it's suitable for 2person. Share Toilet is very clean and nice decoration.
Absolutely beautiful ”
Gorgeous home in a beautiful location. We had a short stay but wish we could stay longer. Great riverside spot to hang out and watch the boats. Good sunset viewing. We rented bikes from the house and rode around town.
Remote quiet place, traditional Thai house, service is not so good”
The house is traditional Thai style, and it's clean. Shower & toilet is common use. The place is remote from city center, however they have no free bicycle service. It charges 100THB/day. The breakfast is only porridge, toast and some fruits only. There is a river-side restaurant, which is named "De Riva Ayothaya."
Authentic teak house with mod-cons!”
We had a lovely time! I think you'd need to either be fit enough to cycle anywhere or to rent a moped though, otherwise you'll need to hire tuk tuks to see the city. There's a lovely raised lounge (?) no name for it in English, overlooking the river. Once you chill out, watching the river traffic becomes an obsession!!! Very effective aircon, lovely comfy bed, clean bed linen and a HUGE fridge to put your fruit and beer in :) (If you stay, try Ban U Thong restaurant - it's fab, and the Ayutthaya Dessert Cafe a bit further down the road)
Beautiful place for families or couples.”
Came here for a night as a solo traveler seeking a quieter spot...the guesthouse is incredibly beautiful and on the river, and they lent me a bike to use to explore Ayutthaya on (be aware that this place is a bit out of the way compared to other places but it's still only a short bike or tuk tuk ride away from stuff). The daughter of the owner knows some English and they are both really wonderful people. Downside: didn't get any sleep because of the neighborhood dogs barking all night, the music from some nearby bar, and the non-soundproof walls. But then again I'm a light sleeper!
A Thai house feel right on river bank”
Visiting to an old city, Athithara gave us the old staying atmosphere. It located right on the riverbank. The main house is of a traditional teak house with a large hall surrounded by 6 guest of various size rooms which were equipped with comfortable mattress on the floor, nice linen, a mosquito net, LCD TV, a fridge, efficient A/C and strong wifi. The only downside is the shared bathroom. There are two of them, large, clean and easily accessible since they're at the center of the house. That's how it was traditionally anyway. There is a sitting hut over looking the Chaopraya River. We enjoyed sitting there watching the boating activities. The operator 'Une' was attentive and was very nice. She drove me out to a nearby motorbike shop. I picked up a bike with a very good price. We'll definitely return.
Nice riverside location but overpriced”
The wooden house is lovely, the riverside location is very pleasant, however the rooms are overpriced and the location is very far from everything with little transportation available. If it had been half the price I would recommend staying here!
Charming, beautiful and good value”
The Athithara Homestay is a beautiful, charming and fantastically located guesthouse right opposite Ayutthaya's magnificent historical parks. Really the location could scarcely be better. And the staff were utterly charming and helpful. Though their English is (very) limited and my Thai is rudimentary at best we still managed, somehow, to muddle through. The house itself is a fantastic traditional wooden Thai home. This has benefits and drawbacks. Firstly, it looks wonderful and the rooms are basic but really comfortable. However, the walls are simple wood paneling so you will hear what's going on next door :-) Also you will be sharing a bathroom. This is the one aspect of my entire stay with which I was less than overjoyed. Maybe I'm just spoilt. Overall though, would I go back. Yes. Yes, I think so. In retrospect, this is one of those stays where I will look back fondly and realize that it was far better than I suspected at the time.
Wood Lover's Dream”
We had a great time at Athithara. First, the father-daughter staff team are awesome. The daughter reached out to me to ask me if I wanted dinner recommendation. Plus, she set us up with a tuk tuk driver for the day who was great, big smile, and he took us around town. Very considerate. The father offered us a glass of wine with him in the evening. The wood inside our room was fantastic and made me feel like I was in a classic Asian boat. Finally, the river is nice setting and I could hear Muslim prayer singing in the distance, very beautiful. Interestingly, you can see mosque, temple and church all from the patio , looking over river. Big thumbs up. Good stay.
