Funky apartment in a convenient location”
i'd booked a two bedroom apartment for my friend and i for two nights without knowing much about the hotel or the area and we were impressed right away by the size of the bedrooms and the gorgeous, plush mattresses (i'm a firm believer in comfort when on holidays - no narrow hostel bunk beds for me!). the area was pretty lively - lots of "gentlemen's clubs" and pizza joints - but not obnoxiously so. there was definitely always something to see when wandering around! the hotel is only a three minute walk from the britomart transport centre, a hub of buses, trains and cabs, plus loads of free tourist information - super handy and we went there at least three times over our two days in auckland during our stay there was a heap of road construction going on in front of and around the hotel which made it a little difficult for taxi and shuttle drivers to pick us up, but i'm sure this was a temporary issue and wouldn't affect future travellers (indeed, every road we drove on in new zealand seemed to be under construction of some kind!) we were also a little confused upon arrival at the harbour oaks, as the sign out the front said harbour city and the shuttle driver referred to it as the istay. turns out all three names mean the exact same place - pick a name, guys! so while our stay wasn't flawless, overall we had a large, comfortable apartment with two fabulous beds, a totally workable kitchen, beautiful views on two sides (and a thin balcony for the very brave - auckland is windy and we were up high!), plus a location within easy walking distance of queen street for shopping and all the little arcades and alleys that teem with auckland's best pubs and restaurants
Great Auckland hotel with superb views of the harbor from the upper floors (lower rooms may lack view). The 32nd floor two bedroom suite is well-appointed with every amenity and includes a kitchenette with large refrigerator and freezer. There is also a dishwasher and a washing machine. The staff is friendly and helpful and best of all, free 1GB of wifi per day, which is these days is a rare beast in Auckland hotels. The one negative comment that I can make is the location, which is directly across the street from Auckland’s “Red light district”, such as it is. Opposite the Auckland Harbour Oaks is the Penthouse Club and there are a few other strip clubs, massage parlors and the like. Otherwise, the location is fantastic, walking distance to the waterfront area and harbor as well as to Queen St. and central vicinity. Highly recommended.
Centrally located and fantastic view of the harbour!”
After a mix up with booking dates, the hotel and Agoda were very accommodating and efficiently helped us fix the predicament we found ourselves in. While we had paid for the 1 Bedroom Executive, we were upgraded to a two bedroom apartment on Level 25. Though not extravagant, the rooms were clean and the view of the Harbour was spectacular! We could also see Sky Tower from the bedrooms. The hotel is within 5 minute walking distance to Queen Street (Auckland CBD).
good value for money”
Firstly, the check in process is very long. Do not think you can check in quickly, and head off. They only accept credit cards, debit visas are not accepted which seems unreasonable as you are still about to charge visa debits, should any issues with the room condition arise. They photo copy both your photo id (must be a passport or nz drivers license) and credit card. I felt this to be excessive. At the time I stayed they had no car parking available, however when I checked out, the girl said "great and that's $20 for the carpark" The staff seem to be very simple people, who are easily confused and slow. But once they figure out what's happening they are very friendly. So with patience and a smile you won't have a problem. As for the room, I was very pleased, I only title this review the way I have because I paid agoda rates. I would NEVER stay here if paying full rate. The fact the room has a full kitchen, including over, stove top and dish washer is awesome. Also has a washing machine, and they provide powder. So great if you're staying several nights. Shower was superb. Unusual toilet, we thought it was broken and called the staff to check. They said you just have to slam it hard to flush. Not all that succesful and definitely needs to be attended to. The balcony is about 40cms deep so I wouldn't really call it a balcony, but good to have to door open for airflow. Nice room security with a swipe card. And good security for elevators, however staff needed to be more attentive to what was going on in the lobby. Do not stay here if you don't like sharing a lobby, hall way and elevator with teens. Hotel is in the more 'seedy' side of auckland city, surrounded by massage parlours and strip clubs. But if you're up for entertainment as you stroll home then you won't have a problem. Not sure where this hotel got their 4.5 star rating from, but overall a nice stay.
excellent staying there again next week”
Excellent when in Auckland will stay there as long as i can get water front view and on higher floor there overnight parking is a bit higher than other hotels in area over all happy with hotel staff were friendly this is a short stay hotel at a reasonable price I am in Auckland again next week and staying for two nights
Excellent hotel with great location and amenities”
had an excellent 2 night stay. extremely comfortable and very spacious, with a kitchen area/living room, as well as an extra bedroom and extra bathroom. location is also excellent, just a minutes walk from queen street and auckland harbour.
Centrally Located Hotel”
Our stay in this hotel was quite pleasant. The room was a little less spacious than we would have liked so only one easy chair in the room where we would have preferred two. The fact that the hotel had no lounge room was a disadvantage as well. Otherwise we enjoyed it. The staff were very pleasant and could not have been more helpful than they were. The room was perfect for self catering with its kitchenette and laundry facilities. We probably would be happy to stay there again on another visit to Auckland.
Great value, great location”
i booked a city view room with internet and breakfast. it was a good value deal. i turned to be even better because we got a room with a harbour view. the apartment has a washing machine and a drier so if you are on a longer trip you can refresh your clothes in the convenience of your room. the breakfast is cold but very tasty, includes a bread roll, oat bar, juice, yogurt and an apple. it saved us a hassle of finding open shops / restaurant early on a public holiday. one hour internet per day is more then enough to catch up with your family and friends.
after reading other reviews i was a bit nervous about this hotel but i need not have worried. i caled ahead and reserved a parking place which had been set aside for me. the check-in was efficient and very friendly and quick. we were in a 1 bedroom harbour view on the 34th floor and the view was wonderful. the room itself was spotlessly clean and very well equiped. everything you could need was provided including a washer and dryer. the shower was hot and strong with a nice selection of shampoo etc and the bed really comfy. it was let down by silly little things like the tv remote not working, the curtains coming off their tracks and one of the chairs having a broken leg. so easy to fix....a bit of a shame really. the lady at checkout was also really efficient and friendly. i also realy liked the area unlike some others. a little mini-mart just a couple of doors along and a delicious chinese restaurant across the street....have their peking duck - it was to die for! all in all a great stay!
Great location and room has everything I needed.”
I had a room on the 15th floor and there were water views from the window which was lovely. The continental breakfast was very good and very generous. It was the perfect place to stay and I would definitely consider staying there again on my trips to Auckland. Great to have cooking and laundry facilities available even though I did not use them this time I probably would if I was planning a longer stay.
Excellent - more than we wished for”
We were very pleased with this 1 bedroom apartment hotel. It had all we wished for and more, like safe balcony on 31st floor where we can walk out and enjoy the ocean, city & mountain view and fresh air. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and spacious. We were catching the train to Wellington early next morning so it was really handy (only 5 minute walk) for us. We managed to have a nice evening stroll and find a good restaurant to eat and experience the city on Queen street which was a bonus. We got this hotel at a hugh discounted price on sale on Agoda so this review may not be so accurate if you were to pay full price. We just appreciated this opportunity.
We enjoyed our stay at the Auckland Harbour Oaks Hotel. We were upgaded to a harbour view room on the 37 floor which we enjoyed a lot. Bed was comfy and room clean. Included in the price was breakfast, would have liked cereal and bread for toast, not roll and health bar.
Had a few mates at this hotel with me on my birthday in 2 bedroom apartment. Amazing views, some of the best in Auckland. 2/3 balconies to enjoy it on too. Comfortable beds, great little kitchen area etc. Looking forward to going back sometime soon!
Clean, tidy, handy & fantastic view”
I read reviews on this property & was a bit concerned however i can honestly say our stay here was a pleasure. Auckland was extremely busy so choices were limited & obviously prices go up accordingly. I requested a high floor which was granted so we really appreciated that. Thank you. We were 5 min walk to spark arena & a 2 min walk to skybus terminal so will definately stay again & highly recommend. Only down was it was extremely hot in our apartment so we had to keep our curtains closed to keep out the sun & the ranch slider would only open in bedroom but not lounge but we coped.
Great Stay, friendly staff”
Was a little worried after reading some of the reviews, however from the moment we arrived in Auckland until the time we left would very much reccomend Harbour Oaks, the friendly staff the location and the view, being on the 34th floor was great, the only thing probably the size of the balcony Ha Ha!
Great place to stay!”
Fantastic value for money! Had everything I needed and more. Extremely happy with my stay here and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone & everyone. I will definately come back here next time I visit Auckland.
Ideally situated hotel with amiable staff”
We always return to this hotel in Auckland, as it is so well situated to happening events and eating and dining precincts, including the "White Lady". The personnel, of many nationalities are always most helpful.
clean, spaccious, very good location”
everything was as planned, as advertised, fair deal. Hotel is close to most interesting points in town, very close to central bus station for all circular lines in town. The room/appartement was clean, well serviced, safe. Elevater only accessable with electronic key, very positive! Stuff was helpful, whenever we had questions, made phone calls for us, if neccessary. Hotel is within walking distance to the wharf, where a lot of good and different restaurants are serving good food. Compared with prices we asked in other places, it was very good value for money. When we tried to extend, they asked us 50 % more than the AGODA price for a much smaller room. Checking AGODA right after that, AGODA was still cheaper than their offer for the small room. We decided to travell on.
awesome hotel great location”
I loved my stay, the rooms were quiet, well equipped and was like a home away from home, made my stay in auckland a lot less stressful
Great value for money”
Clean and comfortable environment to stay in. I'll definitely stay there for my next visit to Auckland. Better than what i've expected.
