              Great position on Samet ”

Avatara is in a great position on the Hat Sai Kaew beach. Room set back up a steepish incline, luckily my room was on the bottom floor, else there would of been steps as well. Rooms big and clean with an airy feel, just a little dirty around the grouting in the bathroom. Breakfast included, buffet style in the beach restaurant. A good variety of dishes and drinks, worth the extra fee. Some of the staff friendly some very hard work. Avatara was set right on Hat Sai Kaew beach, I would say the nicest part, as it was quieter, away from the main/busier/crowded area, although only a minute walk. The main town is a nice 10 minute walk from the hotel, Would be my first choice when returning to Koh Samed

Good hotel - But Koh Samet island not great ”

Room looks like photos. Comfortable bed food good nice people good ac good WiFi. But we don’t like Koh Samet island - Sai khaw beach is now 100% for Chinese tour groups - try Koh Larn island and find a small beach that the tour group boats are not allowed. Won’t be back to Koh Samet

Modern design, nice restaurant, but no fresh air.”

The location of the resort is definitely one of the best. It's located directly at the beach with just crossing the street and you're at the ocean and even one of the best restaurants is also right in front of the hotel resort. The prices of the restaurant are a bit higher compared to some others, but the service is better, some personnel is also able to speak English well (quite rare) and the dishes are very good and delicious. Especially the location and decoration of the restaurant is beautiful and captivating. The room itself is nicely decorated in a modern style and nice interior, bathroom and shower. There's enough space and one can feel comfortable there easily. The downside is there is no airflow in the room so the water tends to stay there and nothing dries all too well. Additionally the air-con was quite cold had a strong humid smell coming out of it (I couldn't heighten the temp even though the apperature indicated so). In case one wants to buy something at a grocery store one has to walk around 10 minutes to the next city area, there's nothing directly next to it. Also there's construction going on sometimes which was not that noisy but it takes away a bit of the relaxing atmosphere there, but I'm sure it will improve the resort even more in the future when it's all done (which might still go on until 2018 or even longer as far as it looks like...). Overall the hotel resort is very nice, modern and has a nice decoration inside and out. The location is perfect and the restaurant next to it (on the beach) is one of the best, too. The beach is beautiful and one can get there within a matter of 2 minutes if one wants to. Just the room is not too big and has no airflow so it gets humid easily with nothing to dry well anymore and there's still construction going on. The price for the room is a bit too high in my opinion.

              great location”

The hotel is located just 5minutes walk to Saikaew beach therefore easy to go out for night life, yet more quiet as it is not directly at main beach. Great breakfast. For Samet Island the price value is better than other resorts that we stayed before. The rooms does not have a view, and windows are facing the hallway, which you usually end-up closing the curtain because you do not want others peek into your room. But for us it did not bother because we were out at the beach all day long and only came back to room for sleep. We found the bed very comfortable and slept really well.

Good hotel, but avoid this island”

The hotel was ok, well located, in front of the small beach with white sand. Big and comfy rooms, nice place. But a lot of moisture (pillows smell weird because of the moisture i think)... Very good breakfast. Too expensive to hire a motorcicle at the hotel (400bahts) when you can pay 250 anywhere else. Don’t go to Koh Samet really...go to Ko chang. Koh Samet is visited in half a day. Nothing interesting to do. We never eat so bad in thailand and you will quickly be bored.

              Nice 3 star hotel”

Pros: - Near the beach. The restaurant is on the beach actually. - Fresh interior, good look - Room is clean. Cons: - Aircon blows, almost freezes the room no matter what temperature you set. - Exterior could be cleaner, but I understand that it's a hard time for hotels during a pandemic. Overall, we liked it. I don't think we return to Koh Samet since ours was just a weekend trip, but I definetely recommend this hotel.

Had a great time at Avatara Resort. Best part was that the restaurant was on the beach so we hardly left the beach. A bit away from the other touristy, crowded noisy beach. Super relaxing! Hotel was great, just be prepared to do some climbing up a slope and stairs to get to your rooms. Green curry was superb!

              Best in Koh Samet”

Hands down the best hotel in Koh Samet. It is brand new and facilities are equal or better to many hotels in Bangkok. Rooms are spacious and neatly designed. Breakfast buffet is good and the restaurant is very good. Cons:- lots of mosquitoes in the room. Staff was not very flexible. We booked five rooms with 9 adults and two kids. Yet the front desk insisted on charging an additional 650 THB per night. Other than these issues, an excellent place to spend a few days here

              Good friendly Staff”

I have to say the Avatara at first glance is modern and chic but look deeper and it’s shows a lack of maintenance. Our sink plug was jammed closed and it took 2 members of staff to make a temporary repair, we we had a broken sink plug for our 3 day repair with no sign of the repair man as promised. I was however charge 30baht for drinking the incorrect bottle of water from the fridge. Maybe that could have been overlooked ! The resort is clean but as I stated before you can clean and clean but that won’t fix the issues you have here. Put a maintenance man in a room per week and the place will continue to blossom. At the current rate the place will fall apart within a few years - just my opinion. A good 3 day stay though

              Nice big resort under construction”

When we arrived at the resort we were a bit suprised at the modest check in facilities. However, it seems that the resort used to be previously a backpacker resort that has now built a new hotel building with modern and even luxurious rooms. The actual hotel building was "hidden" behind the lobby building. They've finished one building and are building two more, so when complete this place will be huge. The construction did not cause any inconvenience for us. It was one of the few places that had triple rooms available when we were booking and travelling as a couple with a single child we needed just that. Rooms were really quite cool, as in the pictures. The bathroom especially was nice and spacious. They have a really nice beach bar where you can also have your breakfast. The beach here or anywhere else near the Nadan pier is not that good for swimming. There are hordes of speedboats (especially in the weekend) that you need to avoid. In addition you'll smell the gasoline and exhaust gas almost all the time. For swimming do rent a scooter or take a songthaew taxi down to Ao Wai (best for swimming in Samet in my opinion) or to Ao Pakarang (Nimmanoradee Resort, best beach/beach bar for relaxing).

BEWARE OF STRAY DOGS NEXT DOOR”

The hotel was new, clean, and good for stay. Ao Pai location was beautiful and the Jeap restaurant at the front was nice. It was a bit far to get from our room to the beach and a bit of climbing steps but we didn't mind. ***However, my partner got bitten by a stray dog belongs to the paddle board renter (S.U.P) who is just next door to the hotel*** They hove more than 10 dogs and they didn't vaccinate all of them. My partner got bitten by a mother dog who just gave birth to new puppies when he was walking on the beach in the morning. The hotel staff KNOWS about this problem but unfortunately they cannot do anything as the dog's owner own the land next to this hotel. Hotel staff and restaurant waiters/waitresses came to us and said some of them got bitten too. Local police has a record of people complaining about dog bite cases from this owner, same as local clinic/health centre on the island. When we got back from the clinic, another couple got back from a day and night trip to the main land to Rayong Hospital treating DOG BITE FROM THE SAME DOG WHO BIT MY PARTNER. They were from Sweden and his dog bite was worse than my partner's. He said he was just walking on a beach and it came at him. Anyone walking on the beach will need to walk pass this shop unfortunately. So be careful. Rabies is worst than actual dog bite - a painfully long process of 5 vaccines needed (or 7 in some cases), even more pain when we got back to Australia. I'm writing this to warn people who's going to stay there. The hotel was nice as I described above. If you go, be careful and stay away from stray dogs nearby. Big thank to hotel staff and restaurants who were friendly and helpful to us, although they were not trained to deal with confronting situation but they are there to help (as I said, they have these cases before).

              Great Location and friendly staff”

Avatara is located right opposite the beach and all the staff are friendly. The rooms were immaculate and spacious. Downside was to busy at breakfast time and not enough cups, plates etc and staff do not keep an eye on food that needs to be replaced when empty and had to wait 10 minutes for things to replenished. All rooms are located up a very steep hill and older people would find it difficult.

              Highly recommended, underrated hotel”

Hotel is in a very accessible location. It’s located at Ao Phai beach which is not too crowded unlike Sai Keaw beach. The breakfast area is the restaurant just outside the hotel, along the beach. It takes about 10-15 min walk to the Sai Keaw area with more restaurants & convenience stalls. Room is new & modern looking as it is recently renovated. Suggest to walk along the beach to check for water activities instead of checking with the hotel staff.

Brand new hotel with warm welcome”

There is a newly built resort. The price is cheap comparing to what you've got. The room is very big and bathroom looks good and big enough. The resort does not locate on the beach. You need to walk few minutes up to the hill. The restaurant is good enough. The beach is calm and not busy. A speedboat stops on the beach; you can ask the boat driver.

              Super B”

Super B room and service. No sea view in the room but a true resort feel hotel. New and clean. Just a street across then you can access to the beach. Far beyond expectation given the room rate is so cheap. Breakfast is soso with flies around but it is totally acceptable as the restaurant is on the beach with sea view and trees around.

Good design hotel, clean and comfortable room. Breakfast at the beach restaurant is perfect.”

The hotel garden and room interior design are beautiful, clean and look luxury than the normal Island’s hotel. The beach restaurant is just perfect environment for every meal, clean and kindness staff. Breakfast with various food and tasty Thai food. Extra bed is perfect in a comfortable room space. Bathroom is airste, clean and comfortable. The price is quite high especially in a high season which should have car survice from the pier and to another beaches as in Koh Laan!

              Great Value for money”

A brand new construction and still in progress this was great accommodation on Koh Samed island. For around $80 CAD per night including breakfast the rooms were clean stylish and with air conditioning. 2 bottles of drinking water included per day and a simple buffet breakfast made this our base. From here you can walk to the two 7 - Eleven stores in Sai Kaeow in 10 minutes. Rent a motorcycle for 300 TB per day including petrol and explore the small island in its entirety. The staff were friendly. There was only Thai channels on the TV though and a bit of construction noise during daylight hours. The place was not very crowded in our stay as only one building is finished. As its all brand new it's all very clean and fresh and everything works perfectly.
