The central location of the city’s riverside hotels means for an ideal base from which to discover the city’s treasure trove of must-see historical sights. Most hotels in Ayutthaya on the riverside rent out bicycles, and there are many routes following the river and exploring the park, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its rambling temples and majestic Buddha images.
Several important attractions also line the banks of the Pa Sak River, including Chankasem Palace, built in the reign of King Maha Thammaraja, and Warophat Phiman Hall, which contains paintings of the royal historic records, Inao literature, Phra Aphai Mani literature and the Ramayana epic.
Hotels in this area also offer riverboat dining cruises with spectacular views of the ancient city and historical temples, often complete with karaoke. The city is also easily accessible from the riverside by tuk tuk or on foot.
