Ayutthaya Riverside hotels & places to stay

Stayed here on 7th April 2015 in the Pool Suite. The staff were friendly and welcoming at the front desk. Lobby connects to an art gallery which is very nice and you can purchase the paintings. The architecture leading to the rooms and restaurant is very different and well designed. Standard rooms looks like they're from Greece with an shared swimming pool. The Pool Suite is private, comfortable and peaceful. Although, there is no view from this room overlooking the river. The room has a bath, not a Jacuzzi. The pool is narrow and about 10m long. Enough for 2 people to swim privately, The room comes with Espresso Machine, coffee, kettle and selection of drinks in the fridge from 60 to 120 baht. Best to go to 7/11 up the road (100m turn right out of hotel). The food at this hotel is good, but not the best. Quite expensive, too. But remember, this hotel is the best one available in Ayutthaya with a nice view overlooking the river. Our meal came to 1,700 baht for two people. (I did however have two dishes to myself as the burger was not filling). Would I stay here again? Yes I would, because it is nice but maybe just for one night in the standard room. It's not easy to find a decent hotel in Ayutthaya (or in many of the provinces for that matter). This is a large hotel that can easily cater for (and did) tour groups, conferences, very large functions, etc. Rooms although dated and facilities of a high standard. Comfortable bed and large bathroom. Everything worked. There is a choice of 3 restaurants. An Italian, the large coffee shop (where breakfast is also served), and 'another' on the terrace adjacent to the river. The latter was best choice for dinner as a live duo performed in the evenings - better than the karaoke style performers accompanied by piano in the coffee shop during the evenings. Cuisine was generally good, but service in the coffee shop was appalling due to a lack of staff training. The breakfast buffet was varied with sufficient variety for foreigners, BUT the girl tasked with making omelettes just didn't have a clue about how to fry an egg unless you wanted it solidly very well done. Most travellers if not on business and there for a purpose are there to see the sights. In my previous experience the hotels located inside the old city closest to the monuments aren't much to write home about, and in any case, you need transport to get around to see all the sights. So location isn't in my view especially important. The Krungsi River hotel like no doubt every other Ayutthaya hotel, has its resident fixer located out front who can arrange a personal aircon taxi/guide to take you around for half or all day - and frankly speaking, that's really what you want if sightseeing. So it matters not that your hotel is not slap bang in the city centre. The terrace restaurant was a delight overlooking the river with live music. If you don't want to otherwise spend a fortune on a luxury boutique guesthouse, then the Krungsi River Hotel offers a very good blend of very affordable comfort and facilities (if booked through Agoda at their 50% off rate) and you need look no further!

This is a lovely small hotel in Ayutthaya, just a short tuk tuk ride from the ruins and elephant rides. The hotel has a lovely cafe where breakfast is served in the morning. There is a nice pool by the river which was very clean and great for dipping your feet in after walking around all day. Our room was very clean and stylish with some pretty vases built into cabinets in the wall and an absolutely incredible view of the temple over the river. We also had a balcony leading off the bedroom. The bathroom was really big and nicely decorated. The staff were friendly. We would have liked to have stayed longer if we had more time. We had only paid for one breakfast in advance by accident, but the second breakfast was very good value. The only negative was that there was some building work going on next door to the hotel but we just kept the curtains shut on that side of the room and it didn't bother us (by the time we came back after being out for the day work had stopped, and it wasn't very loud anyway).

We went to Ayothaya Riverside Hotel for one night, and it was an awesome surprise! We were on a train trip and hotel is at walking distance from Railway Station... Though the building is not the newest, room is super clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff is very kind, helpful and kind. Breakfast had a good choice and our kid did not pay for it. It has a floating restaurant, with delicious food and great value for price! Outside the hotel there are always plenty of tuk tuk to bring you to any part of the city. A great place to stay!

One word - awesome, we took train to Ayutthaya, and the homestay is just walking distance from the train station. The aunty is the only receptionist and she is attending to detail so we feel warm welcome, she provides all the information needed to visit around Ayutthaya. The homestay is actually a wooden house by riverside, and the design is really unique so you get to experience living in wooden house, some of the wall has beautiful painting on them as well. You can either book the upstairs or downstairs room, for upstairs room you need to use shared toilet, guess what? The shared toilet is amazingly clean and that's how good they maintain it. I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone who is planning to visit Ayutthaya.

We booked for 2 nights but ended up staying 5. Really peaceful location on the river with excellent staff. Even our small budget room had everything we needed. Breakfast was superb with a good choice. The beautiful teak building and decor are something special. Although further from the main sites than some places these were in easy reach by bikes or tuktuk. Also some of the more atmospheric minor temples and ruins are right next to the guesthouse. These are brilliant and you will usually have them to yourself. The area is an extensive public park with some great wildlife. Although set back from the main road this is a very busy and dangerous highway. The only shops and restaurants require walking along this road. There are also some aggressive dogs around the entrance (these appear to be a problem everywhere in Ayutthaya). Being so far out of town we think the price could be a little lower or the rather old single gear bicycles could free to use rather than 100 baht each per day.

This place is a bit out of the way compared to most places in Ayutthaya, but that's what makes it so great! It is so nice that we made a second trip to Ayutthaya just to stay here again and relax. The guesthouse is located on the Chao Phraya and the neighborhood has very few other places to stay so the markets and food stands are the real deal: the food is not westernized and the prices are cheap since they're used to mostly Thai folks. There are bicycles for rent and it's the perfect way to explore the city, no need for motorbikes or overpriced tuk-tuks. Just bike around and see some of the beautiful temple ruins that Ayutthaya is known for. Ya, the owner, is such a friendly and hospitable fella. We love hanging out in the common area and playing songs with him in the evenings. He has a few guitars for guests to play as well as a cajón. The drinks are a good price too, especially if you're coming from Bangkok or Chiang Mai which are used to heavier tourist traffic. The rooms are beautiful and rustic, with open ceilings and fans to keep the air flowing (don't worry, the beds have mosquito nets!). There are several bathrooms, but the best one is on the upper deck underneath the huge tree. Nothing like a cold shower in the afternoon underneath the shade of that tree!

Good for short stay as a transit hotel.. Great location, it is only a 5 minutes walk from the Ayutthaya Railway station with 2 convenience stores. Lots of local food stores along the road leading to hotel. Hotel has individual room unit at the ground level with direct river view although it is a small sub-branch of the main river. The Thai restaurant at the back of the hotel is worth trying. It is a floating restaurant with nice and slightly pricy Thai food,but there are lots of dinners at night. Do ask for mosquito repellent if you are wearing shorts when you diner at the restaurant.

The hostel's location is not too far from Ayutthaya attractions that you can walk or ride to get there from the hostel. The place looks exactly like the photos, very tidy and clean. You can also see the river view from the balcony when you walk through the bedroom door. And the owner is smiley and kind, she is willing to help you about the hostel or about Ayutthaya if you have any concerns.

The guesthouse had a pretty nice location on the riverside. You could have breakfast, lunch and dinner next to the river. The rooms were cheap but nice. The only problem we encountered was that the guesthouse closes at 11p.m and you have to be inside before that time. So if you want to enjoy the night life this is not the guesthouse for you. The staff was really nice though because we booked and payed 2 nights in advance and after finding out about the curfew we wanted to leave and we got a full refund for the 2nd night.

The River View is a locally / family owned hotel. The river view rooms look out to a beautiful, active temple, the river traffic, and the outdoor dining area below. Highly recommend you choose one of these. We had a suite and it was huge. Kitchenette, fridge, good A/C. This is not a Marriott - but why would you want that - you're in Ayutthaya! Staff were sweet and always helpful. Laundry service prompt and inexpensive. Great bed, nice old school feel. Nice deck. Walk 5 min West to Ong's restaurant, North 3 min to great food by the temple, cross the river (10 Baht for two) for an ATM and to feed the fish. Good food on site. Tuk Tuk from here to anywhere inside Ayutthaya is <120 Baht. We hired a driver for 4 hours for 800 Baht. Local flavor. Real experience. Didn't use pool - too busy sight seeing. Excellent guitarist on the deck every night.

The Seven Seas Riverside Ayutthaya could be the perfect place for a honeymoon, if you not are looking for a 6 star luxurious hotel. It is situated on the riverbank close to Ayutthaya centre. But because of its location at the end of a small soi, it is a very quiet place. No traffic noise at all. But only 5 minutes walk to 7Eleven and other shops, and restaurants. The view from the room and the balcony outside the room is superb. (Our room type was Deluxe Jacuzzi Riverview with Balcony). The room was nice and clean, and the big bathroom very romantic with Jacuzzi and candlelight. Everything was functioning. The owner of the small hotel was very friendly and helpsome with everything. E.g. when we wanted to go and have dinner and shopping downtown, he recommended a very good restaurant, and called for a tuk tuk to bring us there low price. When sitting in the hotels nice restaurant build out above the river he always helped us starting the fan and bringing water and coffee and etc. And always with a big smile. The only minus about our stay was that the kitchen of the hotel was closed. But the owner told he would order food from another restaurant if we wanted that. And there was free coffee or tea and boiled water all 24 hour. Another thing was that the hotel was very difficult to find. We had to ask more people before we found it at the end of a narrow soi. Only a very little sign was telling us where to go from the main street. And don't trust the map on the website showing the location of the hotel. Then you will end 15 - 20km away from the hotel!!! Tell the taxi driver instead to look for a location at U-Thong Rd opposite the Wat Phutthaisawan temple.

traditional thai house by the chao phraya river, your lovely view while having breakfast or coffee. the furniture is thai shabby chic. the mattress is of good quality, fluffy pillows, divinely clean, crisp white sheets, and there's a white thai mosquito net that you can use to protect yourself from mosquitoes & other insects while sleeping. it is chilly and breezy in the morning, no hot shower but the temperature gets warm by midday. there's one common toilet & bath in the upper part of the house, and two other downstairs. toilet and bath is modern & clean. wifi connection is fast and accessible anywhere in the house, so you have internet access even in the comfort of your bedroom. there's a common area where you can watch tv/video, read books, or socialize with other guests. temples are located close by & bike rental is just about 300 meters away. for 50 thb from morning until 8pm, you can bike around the city to visit the temples & museums. the house manager, ms. pennapa is very accommodating and could arrange a tuktuk for you whenever you need it. she could also call a thai masseuse if you want to get a massage in the house. the house's atmosphere is serene most of the time, but could get a bit noisy toward sundown with boats passing, some are carrying tourists singing karaoke. but this entertained me more than it bothered. breakfast is savory thai cuisine, adds up to the real thai living vibe. there is a menu provided where you could order your breakfast of choice for the next day. bottled water and instant coffee are provided. i had the best time at this place. truly a home away from home. it was more that what i expected. i highly recommend this place to those who want peace and quite or whose objective is to really rest and relax apart from visiting the various tourist attractions.

The only downside to this property is its location in the sense that it's far away from both train station and bus terminal, so tuk-tuk drivers are likely to do their best to skin you if they can. On the other hand, the property is located right by the river so if you fancy a breakfast practically at the riverbank, this is your place. Apart from that, the property owners, a family od three really, are so friendly, nice and forthcoming that it by far trumps a bit of an inconvenient location. Accommodation is clean, breakfast is plentiful and practically a la carte (since they ask you what you want and what you don't want), and you can even get a bicycle for your use for free. If I come to Ayutthaya again, will I book the same place again? You bet.

Overall good, especially the scenery around the place, however, there're some issues that worth to point out: - each "house" is a bit close together, you may feel loss of privacy or annoyed if some loud guest is in the unit next to you. - they don't have a real "restaurant" there, just a small cooking place that will prepare your breakfast, but they can also cook a big feast if you tell them beforehand (2-3 days I guess). - you should have car to reach the place; they're 2 km (iirc) from the main road, also, having a car will give you a freedom to go around the area at anytime ,for example, getting beer and snack from a mall nearby (that's over a kilometer through rural road) In short: good place to relax, stay lazy all day, see the river, walk in the nearby rice field and breathe some fresh air.

If you arrive befor 19h go by fairy 5bat/per Otherwise the tuk tuk will charge 100bat to get around the river. 5min drive. 2) extremely friendly young couple The two were soooo nice. She explained everything in a good english and handled the booking of bus to chiang mai. He does all the work on bikes and scooters We even got a little surprise at the end. Lovely 3) comfortable at a verry good price The bed is comftable and the air con is good. There are shared bathrooms so plan your trip downstairs. 4) best way around ayutthaya is definitly the scooter. A mere 200 bat and some 30 bat for gasoil and your of to drive quick from temple to temple and even a bit of the main island. I recommend it a 100 times.

I would so much want to give this place a perfect rating. Tony is an excellent host. This place is bang opposite the train station and the ambiance is perfect for a hostel. Lot of open space and a good restaurant downstairs. The only problem was a lack of even basic toiletries in the toilets. I know this a hostel, but every good hostel that i have stayed in would at least provide some soap and shampoo in the toilets and a hand soap besides the wash basin. Unfortunately these things were missing and i faced some problems as my bags were in the Bangkok airport so i didn't have any of these with me. There is a big 7/1 1 a few meters from the hostel where you would get everything you want. If i would go back to this place in the future? Definitely.

I picked Slowtree as I wanted somewhere to stay that reflected Ayutthaya. I was very happy with my choice. this place is the perfect mix of old and functional. the hard wood floors, plants everywhere and wood panels on the walls give the hostel a strong touch of nature while the comfortable beds, beautifully hand painted artwork and small quirky pieces of furniture around the hostel give the place a nice flair. really enjoyed my stay. only recommendation would be to bring some ear plus as the walls-inside and outside-are paper-thin. l Happy traveling
