I've stayed in a few hostels. This is one of my favourites. Lovely staff so welcoming and smiling. The hostel is so chilled and peaceful. Good showers. Breakfast is included but me personally I don't eat breakfast so didn't have any. Kantiang bay itself is a lovely part of Koh lanta. Very welcoming feel to the whole place , gorgeous beach, lovely food and people . The hostel is a 2 minute walk from the bay itself. I'd definitely stay again, if you want a party hostel this isn't for you. But if you want somewhere to enjoy the surroundings, relax, and have a good sleep then this is for you. thank you for being so welcoming.

The location wins all. We stayed here for 10 days and it was hard to leave. We stayed in a fan room (all we could afford) which was fine for us, but a little less robust against the intrusion of wildlife than the pricier bungalows. This didn't bother us though because the surroundings are so beautiful and the beach is right on your doorstep. We did have a little trouble finding the place as the map implied it was near Kantiang Bay, it is not, it is right on Klong Jark beach (hence the name) just something to be aware of. Klong Jark is better than Kantiang Bay anyway. Oh and a big thank you to the woman who runs the place, she was amazing. So friendly, capable and helpful. She helped make our stay relaxed and enjoyable and helped arrange our onward travel. If you're going to Ko Lanta try your best to stay here. It's wonderful.

I originally chose to stay here because on a map it was very close to the scuba diving school I was attending. I originally intended to move to another place on the island, but the hotel and it's area was so lovely and relaxing that I just talked to the front desk and stayed here for another 4 nights. This was a perfect place to recharge and its views are amazing. It's just a walk down the steps to the beach, the beach bars, and even the resort restaurants. I'm looking forward to returning to this lovely, chill, simple hotel next year for vacation. The staff were so kind, and the on-site massage has the best view ever and the most efficacious Thai massage I've ever had. She was pulling me and kneeling on me and getting out kinks I never realized I had! All while watching the sunset over the bay (and on the other end of the spectrum, I totally fell asleep during an aloe vera massage after getting sunburned the next day. ;) ) 5 stars, a++++, would stay again (plan to stay again).

Our stay at Bamboo Bay was great. The location is beautiful and the beach is a nice, secluded, and quiet place. The food is fantastic, although more expensive than eating local down the street. It is very necessary to rent a motorbike here, which Bamboo Bay does well and at a reasonable price. However, the staff was not the friendliest. The owner or main manager was nicer, however we felt she had an ulterior moment each time she came to speak with us - whether this was for booking the most expensive island tour, getting us to use the motorbike more than we had planned, or using more expensive transport to and from the airport. Overall, great experience at Bamboo Bay, just be wary of the manager manning reception dawn to dusk.

Location - The hotel reception is up a steep slope but the apartments are slightly lower and can be reached via a long flight of stairs. It can be quite challenging if you have luggage as you will have to lift your luggage up the stairs when you check out. The hotel is no more than a 10 minute walk to the beach, we usually access the beach via Why Not Bar. Out of the rest of the hotels in the region, this was the most reasonably priced and it did not disappoint. Staff - were helpful and friendly, they speak limited English but most can understand a little English. They were happy to help arrange for a car and early breakfast on our last day when we checked out early. They were happy to help call our tour agency which we booked a tour from, even though we didn't book through the front desk. Only one small incident marred our impression of the staff - on the last day, as we were leaving the hotel one of the ladies claimed we stained two hand towels during our stay and wanted 100 baht for each of the towels. We could barely make out the stains but after scrutinising the towels found some faded yellow stains. It didn't look like it wouldn't wash out with some bleaching and we thought it was quite cheeky that they wanted money for them. After some haggling, they finally reluctantly waived the 'additional charges' off. Cleanliness wise, the rooms were made up every day and the sheets changed. Air freshener was also sprayed to freshen up the room. We had no issues with cleanliness. Facilities - There was a small pool which was good for soaking and probably 4-5 strokes worth if you wanted to swim. It was fairly clean, there were some insects on the bottom but the water was generally clear and clean. Room - Bed was comfortable enough, comprising of two single mattresses pushed together; not luxurious but not expecting it since its only a 3 star hotel. The sheets were lightly stained or torn in some places sometimes but it was clean and washed. The kettle was a little f

The staff was one of the major reasons we extended our stay. Exceptional team! Just the hardest working and loveliest people! always smiling and up for a joke. The kitchen also is amazing. A few nights we went some where else for dinner but we would always return to Kantiang Bay View‘s restaurant the next night. Especially for the cocktails, fire show and live music every single night at the on-site Why Not Bar. Kantiang bay view is situated on a lonely beach which is less than 50m away from the Bunalows. For the daytrips you don’t have to travel far as you’ll be picked up right at this bay . Since the Hotel is in the South of Lanta the most beautiful lonely beaches and jungle landscapes are within reach as well as everything else one could possibly need. (ATM, 7/11, souvenir shops, scooter rental, pharmacy and massage ) still it is far enough from all the touristy masses up north. We‘ll definitely come back!

Excellent location. Competitive prices. Most accommodating staff. Highly recommend for romantic getaway, relax or active holidays. Beach(Kantiang Bay) is 3 mins walk down the hill to the main street and another 3-4 along small street. Walk is nothing for younger people but might be a bit challenging for seniors or people with limitations. The slope is okey to drive on motorbike as well. Food delicious. Room view is stunning- full sea view. Apart from regular facilities room has big wooden desk and petit sofa. No hairdryer or kettle but staff is very helpful. Very atmospheric Sood Yod bar. Excellent place for meditation and mind peace. In overall one of the best places I stayed. Bon voyage!

I was traveling Koh Lanta previously and had stopped into Bamboo Bay. The beach here is incredible. I was destined to come back. When I did, I booked a beach bungalow at Baan Phu Lae. It was everything I could have dreamed of. Breezy beach bungalow where you fall asleep listening to the crash of the ocean. Cozy restaurant/bar where you can charge everything to your room for the week. The staff takes very good care of you and the food/drinks are excellent. Don't be scared of not having AC if you book a bungalow without. You get a great cool breeze every night from the water and the beds have mosquito nets so you can comfortable sleep with the windows open. They keep a good monitor over the property, so we did not worry about theft of being bothered. You are quite tucked away from anything busy, its an amazing way to slow down and relax and really soak up the sun and the beach. You will need a moped to get into town if you want, but everything you need is at the resort, if you choose to not leave. The couple who runs the resort can book all your excursions for you if needed. Highly recommend.

I've stayed in the kantiang bay area many times in the past, but this was my first stay at The Sea@Lanta. It's located about 1km from kantiang bay, but has it's own quiet little bay directly opposite, along with a couple of small places to eat and drink. The hotel is very modern, very clean, and the rooms are well equipped with everything you would need; cable TV, kettle, WiFi, hot water shower, air condition, large comfortable bed, table and seating area, balcony and seating area. It's also nice and quiet in the evening. The view from the room (even from the bed) was directly out over the sea, giving a great view of Koh Haa in the distance, and a perfect view of the sunsets during the time I was there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. On arrival, I was greeted by the owner, who always seemed to be on hand to help guests. I cannot fault this hotel at all. Incredible value for money and extremely comfortable place to stay. I will certainly be staying here again in the future.

This was a great room, which was clean, affordable and secure. The beach was quiet, with not too many people. Good restaurants around, especially the small Thai place down the road(not the bigger one to the left)! At night, the owner joins his band to jam and with the locals and tourists with some great music. Everybody can join in, just watch out for the free shots, which is strong local made brew, kinda like moonshine!

Just back from 7 nights @ the Kantiang Oasis (April 2016) and I had to leave a review because I truly felt blessed to have stayed there. From the moment I arrived and shown to my room to leaving and them organising travel for me the staff were absolutely brilliant, knowing when to ask did I need anything to knowing when to leave me alone the balance was perfect. The room I stayed in (for the money) was lovely, a typical Thai style room, good size, very clean and exactly what I needed (would also be suitable for couples as well). The room was cleaned every day and towels, fridge etc. all replenished. Breakfast was basic but lovely and the main thing the room and staff was great they made me feel so welcome!!! I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who wants to stay in the best part of Koh Lanta (in my opinion - Kantiang Bay) easily accessible to the 7/11 (24 hrs) massage places and restaurant and the amazing Why Not Bar (on the beach)!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! David Stranack

The cheapest we found in Koh Lanta south beaches, such as Kantiang and Bamboo. The nature is awesome, the bungalows are 300m from the beach, and they're pretty comfortable if you're ok with living simply. Only cold shower as most Thai hotels, and the toilet in the fan room is dirty with something that cannot be washed. The staff were cool but very insistent in us to buy them trips at higher prices than in the town. After some talk we could get normal prices. Would not recommend for a family, but it's a nice place for a couple to relax a few days

i really just loved this place. it was clean and tidy for the price. i paid per night (thanks agoda) in the off season. the view was just incredible, the swimming pool great, one of the best beaches on koh lanta (kan tiang bay). also excellent food and i really loved the staff here. they were great to hang out with. would also be good for a romantic getaway but i left the husband in sydney bed was also super comfortable. i loved this place. koh lata is pretty quiet in the off season so if you're not into the quiet life - probably not for you. wifi in public areas. tv with international movies etc and dvd.

When we arrived, we were told there was no kitchen. The hotel staff said they could bring in food for us. We were served a very simple entree of a little rice and veg/or rice with little sample of chicken. We were not given any choice of food...just served whatever food to us. We were told not to worry about the cost...it wouldn't cost very much at all. After two days, we insisted on knowing the cost. We were told 250 baht per person per meal! That's 1000baht per day for one couple. We were also told that if we wanted to purchase food/water or whatever off the property, we would be charged 200 baht for transport! We asked Agoda to intervene for us...staying at this hotel was so stressful! There are many other options for accommodation. Take the time to find to find the right accommodation for you and your family. You won't regret putting in the time!

Incredibly well positioned location. Clean, upmarket accommodation, big rooms, aircon, bar fridge, good shower, great pool, friendly, honest staff. Large pool/ beach towels. Excellent wifi available even at the far end of the beach. Try the boiled rice with chicken for breakfast! Free use of kayaks is a huge bonus. Good selection of restaurants nearby. Try Sunset Restaurant at the end of the beach - delicious cashew nut chicken. 100 baht cocktail special 6-8pm. Kayak right out bay for Ao Nuy beach. Awesome little beach shack restaurant with the best Masssaman curry and great fried rice. Very friendly owners. Kayak left out the bay Bamboo Beach - restaurants and bars

This hotel was our favorite in Asia. If you look for a secluded place to relax this is it. It's on the south of the island so a bit far from the activities but you can still book island tours from the hotel. However be prepared to travel longer from Krabi airport to reach the hotel. Warning : their airport transfer service is not free and actually quite expensive, they give you indications on how to take the bus if you want. We arrived on a weekday so until the weekend very few people. The place looks just amazing. Well designed bungalows and luxurious greenery. They have a private beach and pool, a beach bar and restaurant ( very good and ok prices ). We choose a luxurious bungalow but the cheapest ones are really nice too. There is a good mosquito net in the room, a tv and many DVD and books you can borrow. It is in the nature so there are quite a lot of small geckos / lizards and we even found a cockroach. We had to remove them from the room sometimes but our friend in another bungalow got nothing so this is bad luck. These things happen in tropical countries but the hotel is still really clean. If you are really afraid of them be warned but the mosquito net will protect you in any case. The staff is really nice and cheerful. Wish our stay was longer, we really loved this place.

PROS: -most stunning view from room -beautiful villas -amazing garden throughout the resort, very well taken care off -amazing pool with panoramic views of mountains and beach -close to restaurants and mini mart -wonderful and friendly service staff -nice private balcony with hammock and bean bag chairs -monkeys! -5 min walk down to the beach -quiet area of the island -cheap moped rental on site CONS: -restaurant (breakfast was very poor, and the food was extremely low quality for the price they charged) NOTE: -best places to eat in this area of the island are Pad Thai Rock & Roll and Drunken Sailor (1-2 min walk) -Pad Thai Rock & Roll is closed April 30-June 10 SUMMARY: we absolutely loved it here! Perfect place to relax, felt very welcome in this sleepy little bay

This was my second stay at Phuchawee (1st time for my wife) and we loved it. Phuchawee is a relatively small, family run resort, consisting of about 8 villas. The staff are very helpful, but respect your privacy (this is an important cultural difference to understand when staying here). e.g. If you need anything (housekeeping etc), just ask and it will be done, otherwise they respect your privacy and leave you to your own devices. The villas are located on the side of the hill, so expect a steep walk up to your villa. However, the walk is well worth it as the villas are well equipped, spacious, comfortable, and offer great views of the bay (and Ko Haa if you get the right villa). It's a very quiet location away from the noisy bars on the beach. As the owners are relatives of the neighboring resort, Phuteri Lanta (also a great place to stay), we were told we could use the pool and dining area there if we wanted. The place has everything we needed; a home from home.

This was our 2nd stay at Puteri and we were not disappointed. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are fantastic. The only low point was the view from the room compared to our previous stay. Our previous stay we had a sea view balcony, but this time we were facing the mountains and under the cover of some trees. The owner has invested quite heavily in developing the resort since our stay in March 2016; they now have a swimming pool that overlooks the town (great for sunsets), and the new villas look very well designed and built. The resort itself is far enough away from all the beach bars etc that you do not hear the noise, but close enough to take the short walk to the beach and local shops etc. The rooms are on higher ground, so be prepared for a bit of uphill walking. I highly recommend Puteri, it's a great little hideaway in one of (if not the) best bays on Koh Lanta. Very handy for the must do places such as Pad Thai Rock 'n' Roll, Scubafish, Drunken Sailor, and the Bad Penny.

Our room #2 had AC, but one of the windows in our room was broken with tissue paper “sealing” the hole. The steps to our room were falling apart and the railings were not stable. Our AC broke one of the nights and they didn’t refund the extra money paid for an AC room. I’d definitely recommend trying one of the other options close by. We enjoyed our time in Bambú Bay, but there were about 3 other accommodation options there that appeared to be much nicer. Bambú Bay itself is quiet and laid back with no motorized water vehicles. There are about 4 restaurants to choose from. The beach has lovely clear water and you can spend the day just relaxing on the beach.

A twenty or so bungalows, situated in a quiet garden, with a lot of space between them. Some have airco, some a fan. Some are old-fashion thai-style (on poles, wood and bamboo), most are modern, concrete. Ours (old fashion style) had the basic things we expect in a bungalow, except a fridge. Closet water pipe leaks a little, toilet door swings open all the time, we repair it. Two minutes walking along a path between trees leads to a fine beach, with three other small resorts with restaurant and bar, and Samita Travel Agency with a good humoured and alert lady. That small distance makes Sun Moon a relatively quiet place, where in the night we enjoyed the concert of the frogs. We kept our food well locked, because first day there were some monkeys quite eager to share our fruit. Sometimes a monitor lizard crossed our way to the beach, and we saw some pond herons tread on the water leaves. There were the usual minahs, doves and coucals. That beach is one of the last beaches in the south. Our taxidriver asked 800 Bht to bring us, but after some dealing was content with 500 Bht, and it took half an hour. The owner (Tum) and his wife do their best to maintain everything, but it was clear they lacked some capable staff. There is wifi at the entrance at the street, and there are also a restaurant and a bar (with pool billiard). The young bartenders seemed to love loud music (pop, reggae), but were quite willing to turn the level down when asked. Rental of motobikes is offered by the travel agency, and by the shop/restaurant at the opposite of the street. Another restaurant and one other shop are at walking distance. Elephant trekking round the corner, and the National Park with its beautiful trail and beaches is on two minutes motobike distance. I noticed some nasty remarks on internet about the owner and his temper. I can only add that to us Tum appeared as maybe a little bit stressed, but very friendly, courtious and helpful, as well as his wife.

We originally booked our 5 night stay in one of the bungalows upgrading to one of the bigger rooms after the first night. The bungalow was great. Basic but great value, hot shower, a/c. Comfortable bed. We decided to take a look at one of the other rooms and decided that the little extra cost got us even more value. The rooms are huge. King sized bed. Kitchenette and a decent bathroom. Zareena took great care of us and even surprised us with traditional Thai breakfast every morning. The location is also amazing, just off the main road into the jungle within walking distance (5 mins or so) to Kantiang Bay or a short motorbike ride to some of the other beautiful beaches on the island. We actually returned to Koh Lanta after spending a couple of days on phi phi, and checked into another place on klong Kong beach. But I hindsight we should have rebooked at Phu Life again. Next time I'm in Lanta I'll be sure to rebook!

Overall we were happy with our stay at Phra Nang. It has an authentic charm and is in a great location right on Ba Kan Tieng beach. In considering the fact this is a 3 star hotel it is a good standard of cleanliness and good value for money. Our only real issue was, as mentioned by others, that the adjacent bar played loud music until 1am every night. This is fine if you want to get involved, as we did one night, but something to consider if you want early nights and are a light sleeper. Koh Lanta is a great island with culture

A true gem in Koh Lanta Yai, albeit still relatively unknown among locals in both Lanta and Krabi Town (which can be a problem when it comes to getting a taxi). Keep the hotel's telephone number at hand. My only regret was that I didn't stay longer (only 1 night) but the stay was nonetheless memorable. The room was impressive both in terms of design aesthetics and size. The high ceiling, coupled with the white theme really accentuates the space within. Furthermore, the Houben gave us a top floor room with a commanding view of Kan Tiang Bay. Choose from a selection of DVD movies for in-room entertainment, or you could take a dip in its infinity pool or just relax by the pool with a good book.

Amazing little place. There are about 5 aircon bungalow/houses and a swimming pool with a great view. The standard of the rooms was fantastic for the price but the best thing about this place was definitely the couple who run it. Very helpful and warm. Besides friendly chitchat they also gave us an amazing amount of advice and help. We rented a motorbike from them and it was the cheapest deal in our area plus once we came back before dark and said we not going to ride anymore they gave us even more discount. Highly recommended. Oh! And they have western coffee available throughout the day. Win!

We are a couple who are used to staying in business hotels (Hilton, Conrad etc.) and have previously been to Banyan Tree, Phuket and Pimalai definitely compares to these hotels. We stayed at a beautiful pool villa on the hills overlooking the ocean and had a lovely time just eating and drinking at resort grounds (food and drink quality was up to expectations), having massages at the Pimalai Spa (really good the second day around!), snorkeling around the various southern islands, swimming in our private pool etc. I was planning this trip as a surprise birthday getaway for my boyfriend and I was really worried about the transportation (as you will need to go by car - ferry - car route to get to the resort which in total would take 2+ hours) but the resort executed it well and we arrived at the resort and back at the airport without any problems. However, it should be mentioned that the resort does group transfers and I was not expecting this as it was not highlighted to me when I arranged it. This means you may be travelling with a large (and noisy) group who may or may not keep you waiting. Further, there weren't enough seats for all of us on the last day on the ferry. May I suggest to Pimalai to allow for private transfers (as is done at Banyan Tree with choice of different luxury cars)? The resort is not cheap though and our stay here came up to the same as when we stayed at the Banyan Tree, so be prepared to spend a fair bit if you are going to spend all your time (and meals) at the resort! The Ban Kan Tiang Bay beach is pretty good - fine, powdery sands (no rocks on the Pimalai side) and the waters were fairly clear. TIP: Ask the resort for a map of the resort grounds so you can decide on which villa you would like to stay in. There are beach front suites and there are villas (with and without pools) which are set on the higher grounds of the resort overlooking the hill slope and ocean - simply beautifu
