Brilliant simply brilliant”

Location, Staff, Rooms

well what can i say about the baan manusarn except brilliant. we had the very great pleasure of staying at this hotel on 3 seperate occasions during our tour of thailand in december 2012. it was our first hotel when we arrived in bangkok (2 nights), we returned again a week later (2 nights) and finally stayed again on our last night before leaving for the airport. everyone involved in this home from home, from the on-site owner to the lovely lady who cleaned our room, could not have been more friendly or helpful. from suggesting local attractions to organising the various taxi's they were amazing from the word go. being able to use the kitchen, dining room and lounge areas whenever you wanted to made it feel like we were actually family members not guests. waking up at 3am and wandering downstairs to make myself a cup of coffee and watch a little tv was just surreal and is really what sets this place apart from your normal everyday boring hotel. although it may appear on the map to be 'out of the way' it is perfectly located for all that bangkok has to offer. literally a two minute stroll takes you to thewet pier where for just 15 baht (32p) you can catch the express river boat right to downtown bangkok. even the world famous back-packers paradise khaosan road is but a short 60 baht (£1.25) tuk-tuk ride away too and you have to go there. we have nothing but the highest praise for the baan manusarn and very strongly recommend you try to work it so you can stay there at least for one night during your time in bangkok. trust me you will not regret it one little bit.

Fabulous, Affordable Bed and Breakfast in Bangkok!”

Very clean, extremely helpful, friendly and courteous people, lovely setting-decor and very comfortable accomodation, close proximity to boat taxi #15 and good restaurants

We intended to stay just one night but stayed longer due to the absolutely wonderful atmosphere of Baan Manusarn. Ann, Keaw and Ying-the new Thai owners have been meticulously thoughtful in creating a bed and breakfast where anyone would feel welcome with open arms. Their smiles, support and kindness was so appreciated. They helped us with all of our travel plans-being so patient with us as we regularly changed our minds about where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see. They provided information about interesting sites to visit around the area and taught us about Thai culture through their guidance, wonderful resource library and quick email access. Most of all, it was fun to sit and chat with them, as they are all such kind, jovial people. The accomodation is very clean-nice towels, bedding and incredibly soft pillows! All of the rooms are thoughtfully, uniquely decorated in a tranquil and tastelful style. There is a very home like feel and positive energy throughout the space. Morning breakfast, included in the very reasonable accomodation price, is served in the light filled kitchen-available for guest use-gazing out at a lovely courtyard garden. Ann presented us with a different fruit tray each morning/ sampling many different local fruits such as rose apple and mangosteen "the queen of all fruits", in addition to a large English style continental breakfast. Baan Manusarn is in an excellent location-directly across from the Thai garden market by the #15 boat taxi pier (Thewes). It is away from the noise and bustle of Bangkok but a short walk to all of the action on the main streets and a short river taxi ride away from the popular tourist destinations of Kaosan road, Grand Palace and Wat Po. It provides the perfect balance for experiencing Bangkok without all the noise and is very close to some excellent restaurants and food stands. The current two nights for the price of one cannot be beat for the quality, service and enjoyable experience!

Grateful to be here”

Clean, Hospitable, Cheap

Firstly i would like to say Khab Kun Kap for Yin and her staff from Mianmar. We are very grateful in Baan Manusarn. This Guest House so warm welcome for every body. Clean room with attached bathroom. Unfortunately, the bed is so hard. May be its time to change with the new one. Yin and staf was so kind and very very very friendly. She teached us about Thai. How to speak with thai. She help me to make itenerary. Give the right direction to town. The breakfast is simple but enough for me with very delicious seasonal fruit. Though far from MRT or BTS, but its very near with pier for chaopraya river transport and very easy to go to Palace, Wat Arun, and Wat Po by boat.Everything is fantastic. Walk distance to Khaosan Road. I love Baan Manusarn and recomended for everyone. If you need taxi to everywhere just tell to Yin for help because taxi driver will charging to much. Thank You Yin. Extremely convenient quality accommodation”

Excellent and informative staff, river taxi proximity, superior nearby restaurants

The Baan Manusarn guesthouse in Bangkok is the place to stay! We loved it's proximity to 15 baht river ferry rides to the cities major Wat sites and Grand Palace as well as the excellent food surrounding it. What really makes a place, though, is the people. The thoughtful hostess ensuring that we knew how to get to places easily and inexpensively as well as giving us great ideas for our visit. They were always quick to help us, whether to set up a DVD player in our room to enjoy their excellent DVD collection or serving us hot, outstanding breakfasts. Nang, the owner of the small coffee and tea shop at the entrance to the guest house was equally helpful. Trying both his classic iced Thai tea and green tea latte is a must! We loved the restaurant at the end of the Thewes pier (2 minute walk) as well as the one 5 minutes walking distance across the canal (Steve's) which is ranked in the top 10 of the 2,000+ in Bangkok. delights.

Beautiful rooms, friendly staff--great!”

Nice rooms, great staff, feels like home, great location near river

baan manusarn may have been the best hotel we stayed at on our 2-month long trip. the rooms are spacious and gorgeous. the staff is very helpful and friendly. the location is perfect--in a nice neighborhood with lots of restaurants and half a block from thewet pier (which makes taking the riverboat and skipping bangkok traffic easy). i would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting bangkok. it's a wonderful, peaceful base from which to explore the city.

Charming guesthouse with ideal location!”

Big spotless room with clean bathroom

Staying at Baan Manusarn was the right decision! This guest house is super charming, has big and beautiful rooms (and we loved the wooden floors) with clean bathrooms. It is perfectly located, not too far and not too close from Khao San Road and there are plenty of good and cheap restaurants around. But probably the best thing about this place is the excellent service. The owners were extremely nice and thoughtful, showing us good places to visit and how to get there. At the end of our stay, Anne helped us booking a bus ticket to the north of Thailand, which saved us a lot of time and money. On our next trip to Bangkok, we'll definitely stay here again!

Our stay at Baan Manusarn”

Welcoming staff, room size, breakfast

We stayed one night at Baan Manusarn and despite our late arrival at 11.30PM we received a very warm welcome from the staff. It was a very good stay. Breakfast was particularly good. Baan Manusarn is like a big house where the staff makes you feel at home. We chose this hotel cause we wanted to be close to the backpackers's area ( )but we have to say it wasn't exactly nearby. We had to walk for 20 minutes. The hotel is in a very quiet area. DVDs and Books and guidebooks are available in the main room. Again, big plus for the staff's kindness.

The owner and staff were very helpful and charming, they really looked after us. The area is lovely as well, fairly quiet which is unusual for Bangkok but there are at least two good restaurants very nearby and a good local market. It is very handy for the river ferry and also the canal ferry which goes to the main railway station and is free! We would thoroughly recomend Baan Manusarn.

The staff and the service

If you want to get the real thai experience this is the place for you. At Baan Manusarn you feel like at home. The staff is VERY helpful and nice. I'd go as far as saying that this is the best guesthouse I've ever been to. Although are you looking for a 5-star hotel in the middle of Siam you will be disappointed. The rooms are nice and mine even had a big balcony but it isn't the penthouse in some of the 100 m+ skyscrapers in Bangkok. The style is different and this is far more like home.

We loved our stay so much we extended it and booked another 2 nights for after our travels in Vietnam & Cambodia. This little gem is located very close to buses and water taxis and only 100 baht taxi to skytrain to airport. A nice 15 minute stroll will also get you to Khaosan Road for those who wish to seek out the busy nightlife. The ladies who run the Baan are very helpful and only to willing to give advice if needed.

Good workers and manager, far location”

kind, friendly, far from khao san road

baan manusarn is like a cozy guesthouse. the breakfast is same everyday, sausage, egg and bread. if you are staying for a long period of time, i would recommend you to not add the breakfast when booking a room. bangkok is a hot city, so i think its better to go to a better air-conditioned room. the air conditioning was bad. however, the lady at the counter, miss anne, was a great person who was really friendly and who let us put our belongings in the counter after check out. aside from the air conditioning, the room was okay. it was really big and the bathroom was big too. however, yes, it was far from khao san road and many tuk tuk drivers cost 80 baht from khao san to there. (that was a bargain, they actually asked for 150 at the beginning) the location wasnt so good cuz it was really far away. but they were friendly.

Mick and I loved this small Baan. Perfectly located near buses and water taxis. Of a day the traffic bustles along the street but come night time it is so peaceful. Gorgeous room, fantastic location, warm staff. ”

Right next to Thewet Pier and 15 baht river transport!

One stop away from Pra Athit by riverboat to the mayhem that is Khao San Road. I've been to Bangkok so many times and wish I'd found this place earlier. It offers so much and you're in a real part of Thailand just on the outskirts of the tourist formed area of Khao San. You can be in Khao san in a few mins but yet get the quiet, ambient, loveliness that this guest house offers up. A taxi from Khao San costs 47baht or travel by boat at 15baht per person. The guesthouse is superbly clean, free wifi and two computers to use for free. There is a cafe on site serving lovely fresh coffee and juices, blended, iced etc and an array of cakes. The hosts are so warm and friendly. The shared bathroom situation is between two rooms and is fab. I don't think it's necessary to pay for a private toilet, it already feels like a private bathroom being in between both room and accessible directly from your room. Breakfast is simple but fab, cereals, fresh fruit and sausage, ham, egg and toast. Loved staying here so much, booked for two days and still here! Two extra days booked.
