Homely and safe and spotless clean”

Free Wifi, Fridge, TV, New towels and bottled drinking waters daily

Baan Nam Sai Hotel feels more like a homely guesthouse than a hotel but I love everything about this place. It's cheap, safe (CCTVs and secure card lock at the front door), spotless clean, comfy, strategically located in central Chiang Mai (in the Old City) and best of all, it offers great and really friendly service. The hotel is run by 3 wonderful ladies. We arrived late that day at about 12.30am but one of the ladies kindly waited for us and checked us in with smiles and very patiently explained the surrounding places of interests i.e. Night Bazaar, Warorot Market, Sunday Market etc. and gave us a map. Plus, the hotel is only 3 minutes walk away from the nearest 7-Eleven and has many great restaurants and massage parlors nearby. The room is really spacious and has a large laundry hanger in the balcony. It has all the stuff that we need: free wifi, a fridge, a TV with many english channels, daily change of towels, bottled drinking waters, soap/shampoo, and is cleaned everyday. The only small issue we had was the slight sewer smell that emitted from the shower drain once a while. It was bearable and we didn't have to change rooms. All we did was to keep the bathroom door closed. And the electric heater works great too. I highly recommend this guesthouse for anyone who loves a clean and comfy place to rest their souls after all the exploring in Chiang Mai and it's only 20mins cab from the airport.

Nice rooms and no pressure”

Secure, great location and no pressure to buy tours, etc.

Baan Nam Sai was a great option in the Old City of Chiang Mai. It is near everything while not being overly loud or busy. Chiang Mai is known for being full of inexpensive places to stay where they pressure you into booking tours, cooking classes, etc., through them. I never felt any pressure to book anything through Baan Nam Sai, which I was very happy about. The room was large and comfortable and was essentially a standard hotel room at a fraction of the standard hotel room price. The only critique I have is that occasionally (in the afternoons) the bathroom let off a weird smell (it smelled a little like when you drano pipes). We just closed our bathroom door and it did not make our room smell bad. For us, this was not an issue at all.

Lovely hotel ”

worth with $$ spended.

while we are searching the hotel location with the taxi driver, i saw a woman standing at the gate and finally i found that she is the owner of the baan nam sai hotel....mdm tina. she was waiting for my arrival as i had e-mailed to inform the hotel reception my estimate arrival time. we received a warm ariival with sweet smiles from the hotel staffs. upon check in, tina gave me a chiang mail city map and showed me the way to my destinations. the hotel not located along the mail road at cm old city which provided quiet envoirnment to room guests. room rate is very resonable, free wifi, big clean room with cable tv and ice box. laundry service is cheap too. 1 minute walk from the hotel you can find the motor cycle rental shop as well as internet center. surrounding have many hotels too. food corners, mini bars and 7-eleven 24 hours shops are available as well. i like this hotel and would like to recomended to those traveller who is going to visit chiang mai.

Staff were always smiling and eager to help”

Clean, great location, friendly and helpful staff

We stayed 4 nights at the Baan Nam Sai Hotel in Chiang Mai. We found the hotel to be very clean and the room was cleaned every day (which was a nice change from other places we've stayed). The location of the hotel was excellent - we didn't have to walk too far to go where we wanted. We are also right by the Sunday Night Market, which was a bonus. The staff at the hotel were always there to help us, especially with all the different tours we wanted to book. Nong was so helpful and always had a smile on her face. She helped us book all of our trips and even provided which ones she thought were best (and they all turned out to be good). Down the road is a good, cheap bar (Kafe) and excellent massage places. Overall, we had a great stay at the Baan Name Sai Hotel and would definitely come back.

Exceeding expectation”

Staff are warm and friendly

baan nam sai is located in the heart of the old walled city of chiang mai, it benefits from being close to tapee gate and surrounds itself by numerous temples and places of interest. there are many opportunities for the adventurous traveller to hire motorcycles within easy walking distance or unique dining experiences for those less than willing to venture out. the weekly night market is also close by therefore giving everyone staying at this guest house the option to sample thai culture. to conclude, i would certainly stay at baan nam sai in the future and look forward to seeing them again soon, well done!

Extremely Happy”

Very helpful staff, close to local restaurants and quiet location.

Was very glad to be staying at Baan Nam Sai.The ladies who run the hotel were very happy to help us with any enquiry we had at all. The rooms were large and clean and had the basic amenities, TV with several English channels, cold A/C and fridge. Some reviews note that the beds are rather hard, while this is true compared to my bed at home I had no problem at all getting a good nights sleep. The hotel is within easy walking distance to local restaurants, massage places and main streets from which to hail a tuk tuk or songthaews. Even though it is close to these things its far enough away to be quiet. We had a room upstairs and a keycard is required to access the stairwell so we felt secure. I am a budget traveller and this is a very well run and maintained budget hotel, whenever Im back in Chiang Mai this is were I will be staying.

Great Hotel for the price. Clean and tidy.”

The two lovely Thai girls that work here. Safe and Secure. Cheap.

Would highly recommend this hotel as a budget hotel in Chiang Mai. I found the staff to be particularly helpful. I was sick for a few days when I first arrived and they looked after me etc The hotel is in the old city and is centrally located. Everything is handy shops restaurants etc I felt safe and secure in the hotel and there seems to be someone always around. The two lovely Thai girls that work here do a great job and are very helpful. My room was cleaned daily with the sheets and towels changed. Rooms are spacious with an on suite at least mine was. My bed was quite hard but I like it like that. Breakfast was not included but I found a lovely little restaurant a short walk up the lane called Angels Secrets. Originally I planned to find somewhere else to stay in Chiang Mai but I liked the hotel so much that I stayed on for another week. Would definitely come back again. The hotel is nothing flash but I think a good cheap option for Chiang Mai.

Like home”

After traveling for 2 weeks, this place was a haven. Quiet, Internet that works, and ac that works! The staff were actually helpful and not pushy!

This place was perfect. Close to just about everything in the old city, and 25 min walk to the night bazar. The room was nice, more furnished than other places we stayed at for the same price. It had a tv, a balcony for drying clothes, a window, and great staff. They brought us complimentary water and fresh towels everyday. They even went out of the way to get our laundry done in a rush. All of the other hotels we stayed at we're owned by other cultures, mostly Indian. This was the first Thai hotel. They were much friendlier, didn't push us into any tours or mislead us into something we didn't want. The hotel itself is secured through a main entrance door that requires a pass card, while they also close the driveway gate at night for extra security and deference for hooligans. Next time I come to Chiang Mai I'm saving time and just staying here.

I like this place and will be back!”

Quiet but central location, well priced, fridge in room

It's a great choice for Chiang Mai - within the walls of the old city, but in a quiet alley, it is close to everything without the noise. Our room had a little area where you could hang out a few clothes to dry if you are into a bit of basin washing. This was a refreshing change after so many places with signs saying 'no washing in the rooms'. I know this is because they want you to use their laundry service, but washing out a few pairs of socks and jocks is all you need sometimes. The wifi is strong, the shower is hot. Good stuff.

Great value for money, and amazing service!”

Location, service, price

the room was basic but very clean and comfortable. drinking water was provided, as was shampoo and soap. the internet connection was fast and reliable, and the tv had lots of channels (though it was a bit fuzzy, but who cares). bed was hard, but this is common across asia, and it's good for your back! also, some people may be put off by the instantaneous hot water heater in the bathroom as it doesn't exactly look very classy - but it has its advantages. the water gets hot instantly, and you don't need to worry about people in other rooms using the shower making your water freezing or boiling. the people working here were some of the friendliest and most helpful people i have come across. they were able to help me book a taxi to a nearby resort, and happily recommended local places to eat, see, and shop. they also didn't try to thrust any tours or treks onto me, which a lot of other places apparently do. location was great - walking distance to saturday and sunday markets, as well as the night bazaar. you get the best of both worlds here - thai places and "farang" places (burritos, burgers etc.) are all within walking distance. personally i don't see the point of travelling to asia and only eating western food - but each to their own i suppose! even though there was lots of nightlife nearby, the soi that this place was located on was very quiet and i had no problem with noise at night - and i am a very light sleeper. the place can be a bit difficult to locate on maps - but if you look for rathviti road it's nearby. the taxi driver from the airport had no problem finding it, and neither did any of the songthaew drivers (say "moon muang soi haa") and they will know where it is. they don't provide breakfast, but there are heaps of places very close by to eat - there's even a fairly good "organic" place right next door. i will be back next time i'm in chiang mai!

Good Location, Comfortable, Quiet, Nice Staff”

Location, Furnishings, Clean, Drying Rack, Nice Breakfast, Free Wifi

We booked this hotel for two nights on Agoda because we didn't want to hunt all over town for a hotel on our first nights. Well, we stayed for 6 nights and came back again for another three. The rooms are super clean (cleaned every day including fresh towels). The fridge is good size and spotless and restocked with two complimentary bottles of drinking water each day. The room is large for Thailand with a desk, night tables, an armoir, a TV stand with cubby holes for your things. Good-sized bathroom with hot water shower. The double bed was comfortable (all beds in Thailand are somewhat hard - this one was better than most). There is a small room off the side with a window and slider doors and a drying rack for drying your clothes, which is a great feature. Also there is a small table and chairs outside the room in the walk way as well. Staff is super friendly, breakfast is good (frsh fruit and museli and yogurt or eggs and bacon and toast. Plus tea, coffee or Milo chocolate mix.) The room is very quiet. Someone mentioned in another review that there was a disco near by - but we never heard anything during our stay here. The hotel is very conviently located off Moonmuang Soi 5, right in the heart of the Old City and only a few blocks away from the Sunday Market and great reataurants (like Blue Diamond for fresh salads and organic food) and cooking schools. Only con I can think of is the mirrors in the room were slightly dirty, but we just wiped them clean with a tissue. Highly recommend this hotel.

Great value, great room, great location”

The staff, the location, the internet

I chose this hotel based on the reviews and I can now add my positive review to many others. It is on a quiet street in the old city but still an easy walk to all the attractions. There is no food but morning coffee and tea are provided along with a room fridge which was very handy. Yes the bed is hard - welcome to Thailand! We slept very well for the 6 nights we stayed. The staff is outstanding! They arranged a car and driver for us for an excursion which turned out to be almost all day; the driver was right on time, the car almost brand new, and the price was better than the tour prices!. I would recommend this hotel without reservation!

Conveniently located in Soi 5 Moon Muang Road . Close to Cafes / Restaurants & a few Bars / Massage

nice small hotel not far from thapae gate. hotel is run by 3 ladies in fairly quiet soi 5 , moon muang rd. just around the corner to chiang mai saloon restaurant / bar & euro- bar & un bar. all good places to have a cheap & lovely meal & a quiet beer. biggest & bestest hamburger in chiang mai at un bar served with onion rings . yummy . i stayed in a superior room for 3 weeks & found room quite suitable. plenty of room with good efficient & quiet air-con. old tv but a decent mid-size fridge & a decent size wardrobe. bathroom is small with an instant water heater & shower was always hot. bathroom wasnt flash. no hot water in bathroom sink. but you make do. there is a 2 set selection for brekky. i only had coffee, muesli with fresh fruit & yoghurt followed by toast & marmalade / jam. it was simple but very tasty. only cost usd $3 . other choice was bacon & eggs etc. staff are always happy & friendly. i will definately stay there again & would definately recommend anyone else to stay there as well. good , cheap & centrally located .suitable for couples.
