spartan, utilitarian
large bed, location, spacious room
we stayed one day on 31st so as to avoid the requisite-and-rip-off 'gala dinners' and other new year celebration fees that the more expensive resorts like to charge (shifted to Peace Laguna the next day). As it is, Baanlay Bungalow is spartan, clean enough and spacious, which we like. Has a rustic feel to it. Security is a bit of a concern - the doors are pretty weak and there is of course no safe in it. But the entrance is guarded by people, so that is something. Recommend this for people/groups who just want a place to sleep in and then go out to party. Looks like a family-owned business- and they are pretty helpful.

The worst of the worst
Close to centre, close to centre and close to centre
Don't come here! Stay away! Select something else. This should be @ ½ price for one night backpackers only, with very low demands. "Customer Service" is unknown here. We booked for 5 nights, in advance, but left after three. It cost us too much but we couldn't take it. Ao Nang is on the other hand over exploited; without any kind of smile on their faces rule this place. Go to Koh Lanta instead and experience the real friendly, smiling and service minded people, and at better prices all over. Never again

1 Star hotel-room
Location, location, location.
The place it's good for one night only, walking street, food, street market, dinning. house hotel it's only good if you can get cheaper online, if not pay little more and get something better for your money. Owner and staff operated by indians,NOT good service. If you're lucky breakfast, will start at 11:30am. Its that enough reviews? Thanks.

nasty and a horrible manager, yuck
nothing
although it was a low cost budget hotel you expect more. it was absolutely disgusting rooms. we're okey with simple bungalows, but this was just below all standards. the hotel manager was unwilling to help in any way. not helpful and totally arrogant. do not go there. it's not worth even a dollar.

Cheap, budget hotel
Cheap, clean, ok for one night
This is a very basic hostel centrally located in Ao Nang. Cheap, but clean rooms. Breakfast is served in a dirty, warn restaurant with just one guy doing everything. Incredible long waiting time for a breakfast that is not worth waiting for. Be preapred that there might be some noise during the night, drunk people coming home late, shouting etc. Room standard was ok. From the pictures you might get the impression that breakfast is served overlooking the ocean, but this is another resturant not belonging to the hotel.

the hotel was so and so
overpriced, horrible superior rooms, pour food.
I paid on line for a superior room, I was expecting something nice. The room they gave us was stinky, and with a third matrass in it (that I didn't request and they refused to take away). So we asked to change the room and they didn't have another "superior" room, so we stayed in a standard room (loosing the money!). The bathroom is part of the room, but with no ceiling to isolate it from the rest of the room. Definitively doesn't worth the money!
