Great local, food and staff”
Very basic accommodations but laid back and perfect. The food was excellent and the staff were amazing. So kind to us and our kids. Bamboo beach is off the beaten path and away from the crowds. Beautiful.

Very good”
Great value... The cabins were basic but clean and had everything we needed. The hotel staff were great (Thanks Nick!) and even though the hotel is a little far away from other amenities, it is on the prettiest beach on the island and Ban Phu Lae’s restaurant was excellent! I would go back.

Excellent”
Simple beach front accommodation on the last beach on the west side of Koh Lanta before the national park. Lovely helpful staff and beautiful remote location. Not the place to stay if you want to travel around/see lots of Koh Lanta & go out to restaurants/bars (unless you've very happy driving a motorbike around twisty steep island roads in the dark) but perfect for a secluded beach get away.

Great place at the end of the road”
Great little place at the end of the road. I was afraid that my first visit to Koh Lanta 12 years ago would be my last. Back then there were no rave parties, no thumping techno music. Everything I'd read recently about Koh Lanta told me to stay far away, but then there's Bamboo Bay, down here at the end of the road. What Lanta was like a decade ago. Quiet, relaxing, pretty beach, no traffic on the road, chill crowd, and of course this great resort. First off, the staff speak excellent English and were helpful in making onward bookings. Soft spoken and sincerely respectful. Food was excellent, every meal was a treat. Even breakfast, rice soup, usually a pretty bland meal, was very tasty with hints of lemon grass. Recommend the seafood salad, sensational. Good coffee too. Stayed 2 nights in a hillside air con room. Very clean and pleasantly decorated. Cool quiet air con, hot shower, very comfortable bed. Slept great. Glass doors offered a beautiful filtered sea view, great to wake up to. Blood pressure dropped 10 points within 24 hours. Balcony was large with built in bench and a mat with pillows. Great reading spot. A bit far from anything, but that's really a good thing not a negative. Rented scooter will get you to the nearest village if you wish. Could easily and happily have stayed longer.

Quite bungalows only steps away from its own beach. Great food. Great staff.”
This is a great place on a nice beach with jungle clad hillsides as a backdrop. The restaurant has great food and the staff go out of thier way to make you feel at home. Its located on the quiet, less developed, southern end of the island, great for couples looking to escape the party crowd but close enough to get to all the madness for a night out on the town. You'll want to rent motorbikes to get around. Beachfront bungalows are only steps away from the beach.

Excellent place to stay in a quite location ”
The food is excellent, even if you don't stay you should come for dinner
I have no need to look anywhere else to stay on lanta. Baan Phu Lae has wonderful beachfront bungalows that strike a perfect balance between simplicity and luxury. The restaurant has fantastic food and is worth visiting for dinner and the view if you happen to be staying somewhere else. Bann Phu Lae sites on a small but georgeous stretch of sandy beach with fantastic sunset views. The location is in a quite, less visited part of the island so you'll want to rent a motorbike which is easily arranged. The staff work very hard, 7 days a week for the entire season. They are very kind and authentic but some might have limited English skills. Be kind, a little Thai shows some respect and goes a long way towards breaking the ice and revealing a beautifull person who is eager to please.

Great location, lovely beach, friendly staff”
Location, restaurant, traditional Thai features, terrace for drinks with sunset views
The beach is lovely and the resort is just yards from the sea. The restaurant served excellent food (we also liked the food at the Bamboo Bay resort next door). There is a terrace area which was great to relax on with a glass of wine and watch the sun set. The bungalows are typical of what you would expect and sufficient if getting a little run down in places, and the bed was about the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The staff were efficient (with the exception of check in arrangements) and very friendly. If we had to criticise something the Manger, who is obviously quite a character, was not always friendly and focused on his guests. Its a pity you can not book a bungalow with breakfast included.

We absolutely loved our stay at Baan Puh Lae! Great staff, amazing food, beautiful beach (only downside: not so much shadow...), basic but clean bungalows right at the beach - good choice for people who are looking for a very relaxed and peaceful location & atmosphere in Koh Lanta.

Wonderful holiday”
We had a wonderful 5 day stay in the very nice hillside bungalow. Perfect location in Bamboo Bay - very quiet place, beautiful nature, very close to the National Park. Staff is really kind and helpful, everything was very well organized (snorkling tour, motocycle, transfers). You can join the tours by boat directly from the beach. Great reastaurant - the food was the best we had in Thailand (also vegetarian and western food is available). You can see many monkeys, butterflies, birds, geccos and monitor lizards close to the place.

Paradise. Everything I hoped for and more.”
I loved this place so much. It's family-run and the staff is small and very friendly. The restaurant food is good, and the restaurant is a beautiful chill place to hang out. I booked a fan hut on the beach, but decided to go for the second-row fan hut, which was raised higher with a sweeping view. You can't go wrong (although I think the bigger aircon huts set further back wouldn't be as nice a view). The hut is basic but clean with a great place to relax in front. The beach is gorgeous and chill. If you want peace and quiet and a place to relax and do nothing, this is perfect. I can't wait to return.

Don't go there”
I had booked two nights and came from a wonderful and much cheaper place in the Northern part of Koh Lanta. After only one night and left. It was a nightmare there. My bungalow was open and insects and bugs got in everywhere. I really don't like lizards in my clothes, cockroaches hiding in the outdoor furniture, and ants all over the bathroom. After complaining to the staff they talked to me as if I was ridiculous. The is wonderful but the nearest restaurants are not good and the food is overpriced compared to what you get.

The location is perfect, right on the beautiful Bamboo Beach. Island trip to Koh Rok was unreal!! The staff could not be nicer or more accommodating--I made lifelong friends! The bungalows are not luxurious by any means, but definitely comfy and cozy. Would highly recommend! A hidden gem!

Wonderful stay on Bamboo Bay”
Fabulous beach, lovely huts with spectacular views and fantastic restaurant with huge servings of both Thai and Western food. Friendly, helpful and kind owners. Beach toys and floaties provided for the kids and even a few sweet cats meowing around for children to play with. Only suggestion would be for one of the main servers to crack a smile once in a while-it would make the stay even more friendly and pleasant. All and all a great place. We can't wait to return!

Lovely quiet spot”
The location couldn't be better. The bungalows are set on a hill overlooking a small beach. The view from the restaurant is spectacular and they'll cook whatever you like any time. The beach only has three hotels and the scene is very mellow so you'll be disappointed if you are looking to party. However the water is very clear and the sand is soft, so it's a great place to relax and enjoy the view. The national park is a short walk away and has its own small beach and a nice hiking trail. The bungalows aren't sealed tight, so expect a few ants and mosquitoes, but overall the room and bathroom were very clean.

Hidden Gem on the Best Beach on Lanta”
I was traveling Koh Lanta previously and had stopped into Bamboo Bay. The beach here is incredible. I was destined to come back. When I did, I booked a beach bungalow at Baan Phu Lae. It was everything I could have dreamed of. Breezy beach bungalow where you fall asleep listening to the crash of the ocean. Cozy restaurant/bar where you can charge everything to your room for the week. The staff takes very good care of you and the food/drinks are excellent. Don't be scared of not having AC if you book a bungalow without. You get a great cool breeze every night from the water and the beds have mosquito nets so you can comfortable sleep with the windows open. They keep a good monitor over the property, so we did not worry about theft of being bothered. You are quite tucked away from anything busy, its an amazing way to slow down and relax and really soak up the sun and the beach. You will need a moped to get into town if you want, but everything you need is at the resort, if you choose to not leave. The couple who runs the resort can book all your excursions for you if needed. Highly recommend.

Not fancy, not luxurious, not 5 star, but PERFECT!”
Only a few air conditioned rooms, others with fans, manage the Mosquitos by burning coils, cottages are rustic, paths unfinished, sometimes things are rickety, but it's the most perfect place to escape. The beach is untouched, no development other than 2 very small eco complexes, almost no one on the beach, the view is stunning, the staff are gorgeous inside and out and the food is outstanding. This has got to be my favourite place in the whole world.

Bungalows are cosy and clean, the beach is great (also for swimming) and offers stunning views. The restaurant is pretty nice with real good food, especially the cocktails are fantastic. Nice staff. By far much more than you could expect for the price and by far our best stay during the Thailand trip. (free pick-up and drop off anywhere at Koh Lanta is included in the price)

Look no further than Baan Phu Lae”
Look no further than Baan Phu Lae Located on Ko Lanta Island, Bambou Bay, we stayed at this rustic resort for 5 nights in their thatched roof bungalow located directly in front of the beach. Some have air conditioning but ours did not which was not a problem in November despite the hot weather as we had a nice breeze coming through the two windows and the use of a fan. The bed was firm yet comfortable and the room was clean. A safe is provided in each bungalow and an open terrace with two lounge chairs overlooking a small grassy area and sandy beach are perfect for lounging and reading. The beach had huge waves which made it a lot of fun to swim in. There are rocky areas and clear areas. Even saw one person snorkelling near the rocky area. What makes this resort so very special is its welcoming staff who made our stay so enjoyable. Always a smile, and a genuine will to ensure their guests have a quality stay. The on-site open restaurant provides excellent and delicious meals for a reasonable price in a beautiful and stunning setting. The sunsets each evening were incredible and different each evening. We also noted the many people from other resorts coming to eat here as the food, in my humble opinion, was exceptional. Also, the location of the restaurant on the beach creates a wonderful atmosphere. We ate there everyday and we're not once disappointed. Also recommend their margaritas at happy hour (made from scratch, no mix). You can also use their lounge chairs day and night situated in the restaurant that does not in any way encumber your view. As for activities, we went hiking from the resort to the waterfall and on the way back saw an elephant being ridden bareback along our path which is something else that could be done as well. Another hike from the resort was to the National Park and their lighthouse. We also walked along their beach each day. Not too many people which was nice and exactly what we were looking for. Sincere th
