Beautiful resort, to-die-for food, amazing staff”
The Baan Phu Lae is the most amazing resort! We stayed there for 4 nights while visiting Thailand from the US, and could not have been happier with the experience and accommodations. The scenery and beach are gorgeous. The staff are extremely kind, hospitable and talented. The food, oh the food, is AMAZING! I work in the culinary industry and I have to believe the food at Baan Phu Lae is some of the best (if not the best) on Koh Lanta. The bungalows are very cute and if you get one on the beach (recommended), the sea breezes and the white noise from the gently lapping waves at night are really something special. We requested laundry service on our third day and upon receiving our clothes back, it was evident the laundry was done with great care. We highly recommend staying at this wonderful, family-run resort! (Only one note of caution: since Baan Phu Lae is not on a “party beach” (which has so many great benefits including quiet nights without loud music/bass and instead, gently lapping waves) it is inevitably more appealing to families, which means kids. There were anywhere from 5-10 young kids staying at Baan Phu Lae while we were there.)
Hidden Gem on the Best Beach on Lanta”
I was traveling Koh Lanta previously and had stopped into Bamboo Bay. The beach here is incredible. I was destined to come back. When I did, I booked a beach bungalow at Baan Phu Lae. It was everything I could have dreamed of. Breezy beach bungalow where you fall asleep listening to the crash of the ocean. Cozy restaurant/bar where you can charge everything to your room for the week. The staff takes very good care of you and the food/drinks are excellent. Don't be scared of not having AC if you book a bungalow without. You get a great cool breeze every night from the water and the beds have mosquito nets so you can comfortable sleep with the windows open. They keep a good monitor over the property, so we did not worry about theft of being bothered. You are quite tucked away from anything busy, its an amazing way to slow down and relax and really soak up the sun and the beach. You will need a moped to get into town if you want, but everything you need is at the resort, if you choose to not leave. The couple who runs the resort can book all your excursions for you if needed. Highly recommend.
Look no further than Baan Phu Lae”
Look no further than Baan Phu Lae Located on Ko Lanta Island, Bambou Bay, we stayed at this rustic resort for 5 nights in their thatched roof bungalow located directly in front of the beach. Some have air conditioning but ours did not which was not a problem in November despite the hot weather as we had a nice breeze coming through the two windows and the use of a fan. The bed was firm yet comfortable and the room was clean. A safe is provided in each bungalow and an open terrace with two lounge chairs overlooking a small grassy area and sandy beach are perfect for lounging and reading. The beach had huge waves which made it a lot of fun to swim in. There are rocky areas and clear areas. Even saw one person snorkelling near the rocky area. What makes this resort so very special is its welcoming staff who made our stay so enjoyable. Always a smile, and a genuine will to ensure their guests have a quality stay. The on-site open restaurant provides excellent and delicious meals for a reasonable price in a beautiful and stunning setting. The sunsets each evening were incredible and different each evening. We also noted the many people from other resorts coming to eat here as the food, in my humble opinion, was exceptional. Also, the location of the restaurant on the beach creates a wonderful atmosphere. We ate there everyday and we're not once disappointed. Also recommend their margaritas at happy hour (made from scratch, no mix). You can also use their lounge chairs day and night situated in the restaurant that does not in any way encumber your view. As for activities, we went hiking from the resort to the waterfall and on the way back saw an elephant being ridden bareback along our path which is something else that could be done as well. Another hike from the resort was to the National Park and their lighthouse. We also walked along their beach each day. Not too many people which was nice and exactly what we were looking for. Sincere th
Excellent place to stay in a quite location ”
I have no need to look anywhere else to stay on lanta. Baan Phu Lae has wonderful beachfront bungalows that strike a perfect balance between simplicity and luxury. The restaurant has fantastic food and is worth visiting for dinner and the view if you happen to be staying somewhere else. Bann Phu Lae sites on a small but georgeous stretch of sandy beach with fantastic sunset views. The location is in a quite, less visited part of the island so you'll want to rent a motorbike which is easily arranged. The staff work very hard, 7 days a week for the entire season. They are very kind and authentic but some might have limited English skills. Be kind, a little Thai shows some respect and goes a long way towards breaking the ice and revealing a beautifull person who is eager to please.
Sad to say goodbye to this paradise!”
Baan Phu Lee is unlike another accommodations on Koh Lanta. It is in the very Southern tip of the island, where you can enjoy the truly tranquil facing Bamboo Bay! The food is great and the lady at the reception is very friendly, helpful and honest. We really enjoyed our stay here though it was too short! If you're looking for a peace of mind, this is Baan Phu Lae is the place to be!
Paradise”
10/10...I have spent 7 months around SE Asia and can honestly say Baan Phu Lae easily surpasses any other resort. The accommodation is clean, with beautiful balconies over looking a really nice beach. The staff work tirelessly to keep the grounds in near perfect condition. The food is exceptional, which is a relief to those concerned with travellers stomach. Plenty of local dishes to pick from as well as cooking a great pizza! Orn was our first point of contact for anything we needed and her knowledge really helped us a lot. A big thank you to Rosie the barman for creating a fun atmosphere and Nick/Wat for all their work. The restaurant opens out over the beach providing the perfect setting for a relaxing break. The beach itself is also the best on the island, with good snorkelling and calm waters for a swim. Genuinely would recommend Bann Phu Lae to anyone looking for paradise.
The best place to stay in Ko Lanta”
Baan Phu Lae was the best resort we stayed during our Thailand trip so far. We are overhelmed by the nice and calm location next to the beach where we dined almost every day. Everything is tasty, but my girlfriend points out that the Mango with sticky rice is the best you may find during your vacation. Baan Phu Lae met our imagination of the perfect place to stay. Ko Lanta also offers enough things to do for a whole week. The stuff helps you to arrange everything.
Spectacular location with amazing staff”
We absolutely loved Baan Phu Lae! Nick and his team made us feel so welcomed; the bay in front of the lodge was rocky but so beautiful; our room was lovely and quaint and all in all we just didn't want to leave at the end of our stay! It's quite secluded - make sure you arrange with the lodge to pick you up as you can't get there on a tuk tuk. Our food and cocktails were great, and the dining/ chilling area was awesome at sunset! When we asked, Nick told us that the snorkeling wasn't amazing, but advised us to snorkel around the rocks in front of the Bamboo Bay Resort (where we hired our snorkeling gear) and it was surprisingly pretty. We would highly recommend Baan Phu Lae if you're up for a holiday of relaxation!
Great location . . . remote!”
baan phu lae is remote. really great staff but baan phu lae was lacking certain things i take for granted (only free drinking water the first day, then you had to buy it, trash wasn't emptied daily). there was a septic smell the entire time in the bungalow. the walk up to the bungalow might be challanging for some. i was under the impression that the bungalow was on the beach, but it was set back in the woods, so the view was not as great. loved sitting in the hammock listening to the birds. the beach is rocky, but there are places to swim. the sunset is out of this world!
Pleasant bungalows with sea view”
this was my third stay at baan phu lae since 2010. i like its proximity to the national park, far away from bars and shops and nightlife. if you enjoy peace and quiet and being close to nature, this is a very good option. since my last stay in november 2011, the bungalows have been improved upon. while previously quite rustic, they are now freshly painted and decorated. the restaurant at bpl is outstanding. many guests from other resorts come to dine there. expect delicious fruit shakes and freshly-caught seafood, along with plenty of thai and western options to suit most palates.
Very pleasant stay”
Our stay at Baan Phu Lae was very pleasant. Especially the waiters and Nick, the main receptionist, were very kind and pleasant people and one night even asked us to share their dinner with them when they had finished working. The bar/restaurant is very nicely decorated and the beach is really quiet and peaceful. What I did not like about the location, however, was that there are really many rocks and stones in the water and only when the tide is at its highest, you have a "proper" beach. At all other times you have to get across many rocks to go swimming, which kept my mom from going into the water most times, since she did not want to hurt her feet. Maybe it would a good idea to bring water sandels with you to be able to get into the water without actually getting hurt. Also, someone who has never been to this beach needs to be aware that it is really secluded (which I liked a lot) and that there are no shops at all that you could walk to (you would have to take a scooter or car which you would have to rent at a different beach beforehand). The only option you have, if you want to dine somewhere else, is to go to one of the (very few, like 3) different accomodations that are at the same beach. Nevertheless, I would still recommend a stay at Baan Phu Lae as the bungalows and the food are really very nice which make it a perfect place to relax, moreover since you will definitely not be disturbed by loud music or party. Oh and btw: most bungalows have their own private hammock in the front!
Great place”
We have been to Thailand five times and this is our favourite place to relax. We booked Baan Phu Lae for second time, it is very quiet place in Lanta, bungalows are great with fantastic view, staff is very kind and helpful, kitchen is great.
Great place at the end of the road”
Great little place at the end of the road. I was afraid that my first visit to Koh Lanta 12 years ago would be my last. Back then there were no rave parties, no thumping techno music. Everything I'd read recently about Koh Lanta told me to stay far away, but then there's Bamboo Bay, down here at the end of the road. What Lanta was like a decade ago. Quiet, relaxing, pretty beach, no traffic on the road, chill crowd, and of course this great resort. First off, the staff speak excellent English and were helpful in making onward bookings. Soft spoken and sincerely respectful. Food was excellent, every meal was a treat. Even breakfast, rice soup, usually a pretty bland meal, was very tasty with hints of lemon grass. Recommend the seafood salad, sensational. Good coffee too. Stayed 2 nights in a hillside air con room. Very clean and pleasantly decorated. Cool quiet air con, hot shower, very comfortable bed. Slept great. Glass doors offered a beautiful filtered sea view, great to wake up to. Blood pressure dropped 10 points within 24 hours. Balcony was large with built in bench and a mat with pillows. Great reading spot. A bit far from anything, but that's really a good thing not a negative. Rented scooter will get you to the nearest village if you wish. Could easily and happily have stayed longer.
Wonderful stay”
We absolutely loved our stay at Baan Puh Lae! Great staff, amazing food, beautiful beach (only downside: not so much shadow...), basic but clean bungalows right at the beach - good choice for people who are looking for a very relaxed and peaceful location & atmosphere in Koh Lanta.
Quiet and lovely spot”
We loved Baan Phu Lae! The bungalows are breezy and comfortable and about 20 steps from the water. The restaurant is crazy good; we happily ate all of our meals there. They have snorkles and floats you can borrow
Wonderful place”
Absolutely fabulous. The bay is unlike the bigger beaches of koh lanta - there are only two resorts here, and there's a feeling of a lot of space between them. The beach is a little on the rocky side, but there are so few people, that you easily find a place for you. The bungalows are spacious and high standard, compared to many other places we've seen in Thailand. Good working and quiet AC. Great view from the room. Food in the restaurant is delicious. The staff extremely friendly and helpful. The only downside really is that there are no beds in the shade on the beach, but other than that, the place is perfect really.
thailand the way it used to be...”
Ban phu lae Recommended for those seeking a great location, and not in need of boutique amenities. Pros - Great location if you want a chill beach experience. Only 3 guest houses on the whole beach! - Super friendly staff. Yea, saying Thai people are friendly is like saying German’s are uber-organized and un-funny, but this crew is friendly even more so. - Tasty cocktails, served overlooking the beach - Restaurant/bar is right on the beach - Most rooms are on the beach (get a fan only room, the AC rooms are just up the hill) Cons - Rooms are clean and rustic, but a bit more on the “haven’t been updated in 10 years rustic” - Not the beach for the big party, it’s aways from what action there is on Lanta
Very Besutifull”
we stayd some nights in baan phu lae and enjoyed it a lot. the calm location with only a few people and other resorts makes you feel to have a beach for your own.
A unique Pearl”
Baan phu lae is a unique Pearl, cottages are so near to the Beach that the waves sound can be heared all day and night. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid back and the staff is extremely helpfull.
Cosy bungalows in beautiful location”
The hotel is located in a very beautiful location, on one of the best beaches of koh Lanta. It's our favourite beach there, as there are always hardly any people on the long, beautiful, wide beach surrounded by lush jungles. It is far away from the main tourist area, nut it makes it really special. The rooms are very simple, but beachfront, which makes it all. It's lovely just to sit on your terrace and enjoy the view and feel the breeze. It's very relaxing. Good for romantic couples. The food in the restaurant is very nice and the prices are ok.
