Quiet and isolated”
Stayed here with my husband as we were finishing the Mae Hong Son loop on our bicycles. The rooms are clean but a bit dated. The bathroom was very clean and the shower and toilet were separate which was nice. The grounds are very quiet and relaxing. The bed was comfortable but we saw a few ants on the mattress under the sheet. But the resort is in the middle of the jungle so bugs are expected. The fridge was a bit dirty but was working. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There wasn't a hot water kettle in the room but we asked for one and they gave us the only one they had, which was very nice. The food at the restaurant was sub par so if you have transport I would suggest getting food and bringing it back to the resort to eat. Overall the stay was nice and quiet, which is what we were looking for but I won't pay full price.

Great little stay”
Looking at other reviews, part of the charm of this place is the slightly worn appearance of it. Yet it's clean, the caretaker is very friendly, they will do you a tasty and inexpensive meal and breakfast is good. We stayed for one night passing through on bicycles, but would have lingered longer if time permitted

Excellent”
Beautiful place and scenery. We was in a group of 6 and had 2 young children, we was the only people at the resort so received top care from fantastic hosts. We would definitely go again only down side is it's about 50km from Chaing Mai but if you have a vehicle or don't mind avoiding people this is a perfect place to go.

Lovely location but rundown”
I love this place but will not be coming back. It desperately needs renovation. The bedding had not been changed, only straightened after the last guests. Hot shower switched on and off constantly. Water in swimming pool murky. Quality of breakfast much lower than before. Fridge dirty. Kitchen also not clean. Staff needs training. No English spoken. Please save this wonderful place before it's too late.

Such nice staff ”
We stayed here for one night on the way to Pai. We'ed been in a small car accident and the staff and manager were so kind and helpful - printing off documents etc. Not far from Nature elephant sanctuary where we had spent the day. This is a great option for somewhere to stay after seeing the elephants rather than go back to Chiang Mai.

Country Retreat”
Beautiful, slightly rustic oasis in the middle of picturesque countryside! Staff very friendly with little english but great sign language :) Food simple but fresh. A refreshing change from busy Chiang Mai and also a good overnight for cyclists. Lovely pool too!!

Outstanding natural and peaceful surroundings”
Perfect either for peaceful relaxation in natural and beautiful surroundings, or for an overnight stay on the way from Chiangmai to Pai. You absolutely do need your own transportation to get there, and the track from route 1095 to the resort is difficult to find even though thr position on Google Maps is accurate. Their rooms have very comfortable beds, hot water, air-conditioning , mini-fridge - but no TV. Staff are exceptional. Ask for electric thermos. Excellent breakfast of scrambled eggs with plenty of toast. No brewed coffee.

Regret for choosing this resort ”
When we got there at about 9:30 pm, it was very dark with no other guests. The road into the resort is dark and bumpy. The door & windows are hard to lock. Our breakfast is only porridge with instant coffee or tea, or scrambled egg with toasts. Can't ask for other kinds or more. There were only 2 staff doing everything, in fact they didn't do much. No daily cleaning or even making beds. The place is very old with no maintenance and not clean. We were very disappointed with the money we paid. Asked for extra bed and got just a small mattress on the floor. The place is very isolated and small, no activities. No food for lunch and dinner. Not recommended for anyone unless you can go starving.

The staff will bend over backwards for you!”
Staff is outstanding! The peaceful setting is wonderfully relaxing! The pool is very nice.
Our daughter had a nasty cold and the staff was very concerned for her well fare. They could not have been more thoughtful or helpful. It is a small, family owned resort, so dinner had to be ordered at least two hours ahead of time. We requested a room with two beds to accommodate three adults and we're a bit disappointed that our daughter's bed consisted of a thin foam cushion on the floor. When we asked for a more substantial mattress or cot, they brought in another cushion to provide double the foam. We took a half day tour at a very reasonable rate and saw so.e of the attractions in the area. It was a very relaxing three days and the staff was wonderful.

A quiet peaceful resort in the Hills”
Location, pool and staff friendliness
After two days of travel we were happy to have several days of rest. This small resort is about 45 kms out of Chiang Mai and is isolated. Would not suit disabled or family with small children. Resort staff helpful and friendly, clean rooms. The quiet open location on the side of a hill suited us fine. Short walk to small local village and highway to Pai.

Peaceful hotel but very unconvenient location”
Exterior, food, staff
The staffs were good, the dinner we had was very nice, the hotel condition quite okay, such a peaceful place to relax if you don't have any plan to do in the center of Chiangmai... Very dificult to get a transport to the center, especially after 8pm, and it's too expensive... Over half an hour on the car to get to the center so it was an unexpected plan for us... I would come back if we have a long trip and just for relaxation...

What the four seasons should be”
Nature, resort, peace
We visited the four seasons in Mae Rim which also has rice fields and rice barns and an infinity pool. Baan Rai Lanna is a twentieth of the cost and is set in real rainforest and much more idyllic. The staff were very helpful and the manager speaks excellent English. It is a little hard to find, look out for the sign and keep driving up a dirt track after the road ends, but worth visiting. Perfect for real peace and beautiful nature and surroundings.
