Best Spot on Pai River ”
This serene guesthouse sits on the banks of the river, centrally located just a block or two from walking street. Even though it’s so close to the action (restaurants , bars, massage and weed joints), it’s like being in the countryside. Super clean and quiet. Extended my stay in Pai from 3 to 5 days largely due to the exceptional value for money and overall good vibes at Baan Tawan. Set on the home grounds of Mr. Pook and his family, my cabin was the perfect place to relax after a day on the scooter seeing the sights of beautiful Pai.

Simply love this place! Will return!”
This is an environmentally friendly hotel as they used the existing trees as pillars of the houses, with comfortable room facilities that worked well, a nice river just beside the hotel, a walk from the night market area (away from the noise of night market and traffic), breathtaking mountain view of sunrise, monk crossing the bridge in the morning, personally cooked breakfast (not a great variety ) but sufficient for choices and most of all, awesome staff, especially Khun Pook who spoke good english too. Their email address is actually "baantawanpai@gmail.com".

Worth every penny”
Im very proud of myself to found this place. Lol We're traveling as a couple and 2 cats. This place is pet friendly. Clean, beautiful, with a very nice atmosphere. Operated by the family(i think) and everyone is really caring and kind. Located on the riverside and a short walking distance to the walking street and restaurants, which is really great. Breakfast is also great(Pancake is awesome!). We would totally come back to stay here again on our next trip to Pai!

Beyond Charming”
I NEVER write reviews, but here is the exception. I just completed a 3-night stay at Baan Tawan Guest House in Pai, Thailand. This beautiful riverfront property is the perfect blend of modernity and tradition. The quiet, serene location is perfectly sited on the immediate edge of the town center, easily walkable to all venues and services. The owners/staff are friendly, gracious and speak excellent English. If you are going to Pai to party, don't stay here; you will spoil the ambiance. If you are going to Pai to appreciate the charm of a small Thai town you would be missing the essence by staying anywhere else.

Pretty guesthouse a few hundred meters away from the walking street. Guesthouse surroundings are done very nicely, although I didn't try it they also have their own in-house cafe. Room is basic, no complaints for the price point.

Shame About the Bar Next Door”
Baan Tawan is beautiful in every way. But the Party Bar across the River blasts loud music until 3am :(

Great spot.”
Great older style Thai guest house. Very friendly and helpful staff. Starting to show its age a bit, but very comfortable in a good location by the river. Restaurant serves a really good breakfast, but closed for dinner. Lots of places nearby. Recommended if you like older wooden Thai buildings.

Guesthouse with a bit of an ancient and lovely touch. Good location, as you are by the river Pai and just a short walk near the walking street

Very good but a little tired.”
I stayed at Baan Tawan Guesthouse for a night, breaking the drive from Mae Hong Son to Chiang Mai. The guest house is well situated in a short quiet lane right at the start of the Pai Walking Street. It is virtually on the Pai riverbank. The staff are pleasant and helpful. However the owners could spend a little more on maintenance. The screen doors on our room did not fit properly and the shower was very low on pressure once you adjusted the flow to make it warm. Some the wood railing on the verandah had rotted right away. However despite these imperfections I would stay there again.

Outdated facilities in nice location”
I stayed with my partner in one of the cottages for 2 nights in January. We really wanted to love this place because the owners were so nice, but it really needs some love. The stairs leading up to the deck where the cottage were very thin wood and seemed like they would break every time you took a step. The floorboards in the cottage moved in several places while stepping on them. It seemed as though the floor would cave in. The doors to the outside have a one inch gap underneath so many mosquitos and other insects would get in easily. It gets quite cold up the mountains in Pai at night and we awoke very cold both mornings because of the door gap and thin walls. Unfortunately this also didn’t help with any of the noise coming from nearby bars (which I know they have no control over). The breakfast lasts until 10am and when I went down just a few minutes after 9 there was nothing left. If there’s an option to stay in one of the rooms in the two storey building I would recommend that instead.

Excellent place in Pai”
Baan Tawan is a guest house based on wood cabins. It is located in a great place near the river, 5 minutes of walking from the walking street. The family who runs the place is adorable and kind. The breakfast is ok, it includes eggs, pancakes and fruit. The cabins are big and warm, the area of the guest house is full of trees and plants, you could spend a day only by sitting near the river on their wooden chairs and reading a book. Highly recommended!
