More about Babylonstoren Farm Hotel

Babylonstoren Farm Hotel is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, dating back to 1692. It has a fruit and vegetable garden of beauty and diversity, unique accommodation, fine food and a sense of wellbeing.

With the Simonsberg, Du Toitskloof and Franschhoek mountains as backdrop, the garden is majestic. Every aspect of Babylonstoren Farm Hotel – including the contemporary Farm Hotel & Spa, the Farm Shop and Bakery – are led by the ever-changing tapestry and botanical diversity of the garden.

At Babylonstoren Farm Hotel’s Farm Hotel, the overall effect is relaxed yet well-heeled with some of the existing farm buildings transformed into sophisticated guest accommodation. Set adjacent to 3,5 ha (8 acres) of cultivated fruit and vegetable garden, the hotel is characterized by thick whitewashed walls, elegant gables and hearty fireplaces that emulate an authentic farm stay experience.

Beautiful Farm Stay”

We stumbled upon Babylonstoren while doing research on accommodation and boy did we not regret booking this and starting off our honeymoon with a blast. The rooms are extremely spacious and quiet in the evening. Guests have their own access to the grounds, there were also bikes and hikes offered. We did both and absolutely loved our experience. The food is second to none with a farm to table concept, everything is incredibly fresh.

Above any expectatiom!”

This is the best hotel I have stayed at, for so many reasons - the design, the location, the service, the uniqueness of the place, the fresh vegetables you can pick for yourself, the big and amazing rooms, the staff, the morning runs in the vineyard - we loved every minute in Babylonstoren. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

All the best of South African farming and a chill vibe”

What a wonderful intro to South Africa. Absolutely stunning location and the most welcoming staff. Food was delicious every day and fresh as can be as it all seems locally sourced from the farm on premises. Spa was also very pleasant. Only thing I’d prefer was if there was a way to control for flies which were moderately annoying in the spa waiting room which would otherwise have been as perfectly pleasant as everywhere else on site. Bicycles were a great way to see more of the beautiful farm which is indeed a real working farm despite how picturesque and perfect it all seems nearer the restaurants and wine tasting room. There are multiple shops on site - scent shop, farm shop and snack shop - each were nicely curated if not a bit pricey.

Dreamy 2-night stay in a farm/ vineyard ”

My husband and I couldn’t be happier with our stay during our honeymoon in SA. It was bliss. We went during the winter month (June) and found it very comfortable. The staff did an excellent job at taking care of us. Kudos to Jerome, Jonathan (Babel) and the lovely guy who took us up the hill for afternoon drinks! The service team were also very brilliant and meticulous. Little touches like leaving hot water bottle in the bed at night were very much appreciated. We sent some laundry to the service team and it came back smelling like heaven! So lovely. There were plenty to do at the farm that 2 nights almost felt like it wasn’t enough. We’d like to try their spa next time :) My only qualm is that the bathroom can get a little chilly (drafty) in the morning since it was winter. We didn’t flag this up during our trip though - I’m sure the team would’ve thought of something to sort it out if we did.

Stunning Place”

This farm and vineyard opened our eyes to more than just a normal "luxury hotel stay" - we were exposed to all the wonderful food and produce they create on the site and were spoiled with! The staff were the friendliest I've ever come across. Thank you for a brilliant time Bablyonstoren

Didn't want to leave ”

What a lovely place. We only stay for one night but wished we'd booked longer. The rooms are fantastic, bright and airy and cosy with log fire. They gave two free bottles of their wine which was great! The grounds are beautiful, nice walks to do, good wine tasting and cellar tour. Babel restaurant was delicious with food grown on the farm. I also had a wonderful time at the spa.

Special Place”

Beautiful grounds and rooms. Produce is organically grown on site. Every aspect of the wine making process and olive oil is hand done. Soaps are made on site. So many things to do in the midst of such beauty; morning harvest, garden walk, mountain drive, farm walk, bicycles, canoes, spa, bread baking. Just delightful.

Super rooms, very well maintained farm, paradise on earth, the best ever massage! The only area to improve in my opinion is the restaurant- service and food menu. Not very welcoming for small kids and the kids food extremely salted. Also same limited menu lunch and dinner.

Great spot for honeymoon”

We stayed here for a couple of nights as part of our honeymoon and I’m so glad we did. If you are after all out luxury this is the place to come. It’s not cheap but worth every penny. The food and wine is amazing, the setting is incredible and there is enough to do to keep you busy (guided walks, bike rides, the spa, pool). Splash out and get one of the rooms with the private pool and spa if it’s a special occasion, we loved it! It’s not clear when you booked but they do book a room in the restaurant for you when you book a hotel room. We booked the meal separately and didn’t need to.

Who doesn’t want a self serve unlimited bar”

Great location, superbe rooms, great facilities. Only minus is that the food is higher priced than other comparable wine yards however this one makes everything from their own gardens so it does make up for the difference. Staff is extremely attentive and you feel at home the minute you walk in

Perfect honeymoon”

What a truly amazing place to start our honeymoon - heaven on earth! We loved it and will definitely be going back. The grounds were gorgeous and we loved that we can handpick vegetable and fruits from the garden. The attention to detail in the rooms and by the staff (from reception to housekeeping) was outstanding. Breakfast was a little repetitive but other than that everything was perfect.

Fabulous Farm Stay”

Pleasant facilities in great surroundings. Forget your high heels, they are not welcomed on this property. Lots of dirt/gravel walkways and plenty of walking. The farmhouse was delightful with an open bar, spa facilities and bottles of wine in the fridge. Loved the healing garden. Property bikes were hit and miss. The pond for canoeing was underwhelming. If you like a relaxing get-away and lots of nature, this place is for you!
