Great location, great staff!”
Our stay at The Little Red Dot turned out suprisingly well. The Little Red Dot was not my initial choice since I was travelling with a 15 and 7 year old. Because of an event most hotels however, were fully booked or charged exorbitant high subcharges. I picked The Little Red Dot because most hostels have a minimum age of 12. I had booked ourselves in the female dorm. The staff was extremely friendly, room was clean and mosquito free. Location of this hostel is excellent. The only setback was the fact that the AC temperature is preset. The first night we had Siberian temperatures and only a very small blanket. I got a few extra blankets, which was abolutely no problem. The next day the staff asked how we slept and when I told them we had frozen our butts of, they adjusted the temperature. Breakfast is simple but ok, you can eat as much as you want. I would certainly stay here again and recommend this hostel as suitable for people travelling with small children.
Good Location in the City and great value 4 money”
Love the hostel, great atmosphere to mingle with others- provided if you are ready to do so : ). Great value for money. You can save quite a bit on transportation, food and attraction tickets. The hostel is next to the bus terminal to Malaysia- KL and Malacca. Because it is in the city and still one of the hostels nearer to the airport- you save a lot on the transportation. Cheaper Taxi fares : ). And with the lavender food square only 2 mins walk away with some of the best local food selection which is at local prices. I managed to get a meal as low as US$2.... Great hostel, I recommend this great little red dot to any backpacker any time. Cheers
Great location, people, and super clean”
explained the map to me, so after that everything becomes so easy, the place is so easy to find, at first i got lost, coz i always get lost everywhere i go, but after that i can reach little red dot, from lavander station, wearing a blindfold, oh thy have free toast, coffe, tea, and crials and milk every morning, david will give u a shot of green tea as well, i would sugest if ur from the airport just get a cab goin to little red dot, since its just 20 to 25 sgd, ( its hard to carry bags alliver town) tell driver, its near king george lavander give the addrress number and they can gps it... C u. Will be back soon! Oh i wish the wifi is accesible to the room aswell, yet u can use wifi in the lobby, so thats ok
i've had bad experiences with dormitories. however, my stay @ the little red dot changes everything. this place is very comfortable to stay. the room and the toilet is very, very clean. the staff are quite friendly too. they answer my questions promptly and with clear instructions and answers. the hostel is also located nearby a food court so accessibility to food is not an issue at all as the food court operates til late at night. and also, since the hostel is by the main road, one can easily access the public transportation even in the wee hours of the morning.
Difficulties to find the dot”
the little red dot is located a bit far from the lavender mrt station (especially if you carry heavy backpacks). however, there is a frequent bus service (from lavender mrt) which stops very close to the hostel. the room and bathrooms were clean. however, you have to walk across the roofed terrace to reach them, or go downstairs. breakfast and (small) blanket are included (can be a bit cold in the room with ac); some noise coming from the big lavender street outside, but it isn't too loud. adapter can be borrowed against a deposit. free internet; printing possible for a few cents. all in all a pleasant stay. we would go there again.
"Great Place with Great Price"”
My stay in Backpacker's Hostel @ Little Red Dot not too long, just for rest for a while from late flight...
Good clean place close to Lavander MRT”
The Little Red Dot Hostel is a decent place with reasonable prizes and situated near Lavander MRT so its pretty easy go from place to place. The shared washrooms are extremely clean and the hostel staff is very helpful and welcoming. The hostel atmosphere is very good with a spacious out door area to eat and relax.
Cozy and lovely hostel”
The Lavender MRT station is walking distance to the hostel but in case of rainy days, you'll get drenched. There's a nice hawker center nearby too. However there is no money changer nearby the hostel. The nearest money changer is at Little India (which is also in walking distance, around 10-15 minutes) The toilets are clean and sufficient. The beds are clean and simple but good enough for a night sleep. Blankets are long enough for girls of average height but then again the rooms are not that cold at night. (It is Singapore anyway) There're pretty huge lockers available in the room and it's huge enough to put your backpacks. Breakfast served is simple bread and cereal. Instant coffee and tea are served too. Good enough for a simple breakfast. The receptionists are really helpful and gave good tips to travel
Great location but small rooms”
We stayed there only to see Singapore and for this reason the Red dot was perfect. Located in the middle of Singapore with a small step to all important Locations like Little India or the colonial District. You can easily go by bus to see al of the great city spots. The best on our tour was Little India. Great food and friendly peaceful people
Discount Tickets- Universal Studio/Great Location”
This is a great hostel, I simply love the place where it is located. I was on my way to KL and the hostel is less than 100 meters away from the bus station for bus to KL, Malacca and many more places in Malaysia. And for me the food square 1 minute away is a major plus to try the great singapore local food... I missed the food and hostel already. The beds are very comfortable as well unlike some hostels where they provide poor quality metal beds, theirs is wooden, I spend lots of time in the hostel meeting other people... wonderful hostel that I will recommend this to all travelers - safe for ladies too.
Friendly place, good location.”
The Little Red Dot was in the beginning a temporary solution while searching for a place to stay during my internship. I ended up staying 3 weeks there. My view is that the place is perfectly fit for travellers, as I mentionned in the "pros" the place is: - Cheap, - Safe (pass required for entrance, lockers in rooms), - Well located (a few minutes away from Lavender MRT), - The staff is nice and helpful, - Other customers are also travelers.
One of the best hostel i have stayed in Singapore. Justine the caretaker in the day is very supportive and charming. Uncle Allen Comes in late night at the reception. he is very interesting old man who wears two watches . There is old and very interesting story behind his watches. to know that stay there an wait for him to come late night and tell the story. The is 20 bed pod room downstairs which is very comfortable also there are 6 bed and 8 bed drom upstairs which are nice.
Staff are very helpful and make staying in Singapore very easy. The rooms are OK but small. Also spent a night in a pod which was OK but wouldn't stay long term. The room is very dark and little room for bags. Also the lounge area plays music until past 12 which would be fine but the walls are very thin. Breakfast is good toast and hit drinks. And the lounge area is open and lovely to relax in.
Lovely hostel, great location, nice staff”
Stayed at Little red dot for two nights, good hostel for short stays, value for money.
Good as usual”
This is a backpackers...I usually avoid them but I often stay here in transit as I know the staff are good, they are cheap for Singapore, A short walk from the trains, the air con is o.k. the free breakfast is o.k. and I wouldn't want to risk trying another backpackers. A couple was staying with their young kids this time as the red dot offers some flexibility in their accomodation. I will use the red dot again.
Good for my needs”
Was upgraded to a coccoon bed, which was a nice bonus. Everything was as in the reviews by other guests, so I support what most of the earlier guests commented on. I just wanted a bed to sleep in, and the bed was new and thus comforable. Would go again if I want a similar budget hostel, and am alone (better to look for a budget hotel double bedroom if you are not alone). It would be ideal if a light be provided at the stairs (for safety, so as not to trip down the stairs at night) to the lower sleeping floor. Very happy with the hostel.
Nice hostels with friendly staff”
this hostel is a proper place for young people who enjoy walking & do sightseeing. near that hostel, there is a good park & a stadium. i like walking around there and see how singaporean do their activity everyday. mrt station is 10 minutes far and the closest bus station is only 3 minutes by walk. i also like how the staff (i forget his name) welcome me when i come at night. hope i can meet him again someday.. the last, dot forget to bring your own towel
This hostel has best common space among most of the hostels in Singapore , so you get to meet lot of new people and make friends. Upper droms are good and clean. The capsule bed downstairs are good for people who want to sleep quietly . The area and capsule drom downstairs is bit congested as compared to upsatirs normal droms. The staff is cool and helpful. Breakfast is basic bread , butter , jam and tea/coffee.2 metro stations nearyby. Over all good hostel will come again here definitely.
not for me ”
first time ever i have tried hostel and the day i checked in i had to cancel the stay after having few issues like the room and the lockers ( take one with you to lock up ur stuff otherwise you have to pay to get one for $4.00 and rent a towel will cost you remember to take one with you)))) as i think its waist of money to pay for it ,,,after i did left the place kindly the owner refunded the money which was nice of him ,, the place was not for me not even wifi in the rooms only downstair at the lobby ,,,, the photos showing how good its looking says different story its nothing like it ,,,,stairs to get to the rooms and if you have a heavy bag well you know the rest ,,,lucky another hostel few blocks away was perfect ,,,the staff was nice and very kind ,,thanks again ,,
I'm a regular here as I don't want to risk a new backpackers and this one works for me. I use this place as a stopover and have checked in quite late. They will also let you hang around after checkout for your later flight. I like the little red dot.
