the best budget hostel in Fort Kochi”

This was the best place to stay if you want a budget hostel in the best location. In fact we booked it again to stay for the last few days as it is round the corner from the bus stop with buses going to the airport frequently and for 75pence! The owner Bobby is the most helpful man you can find, not surprising that it is fully booked a lot of the time. The rooms are basic but all windows have mosquito nets, which is a rare but welcome feature. The terrace is a lovely place to sit, comfortable with tables and chairs, this is where you meet other travellers and spend time chatting with Bobby who will help you with any issues such as finding places to stay in other locations and using public transport. Other travellers had bought fresh fish by the chinese fishing nets and Bobby cooked it for them, a delicious meal I was told. Not too far on your way to jewtown in Bazar road, you will find two shops run by womens co-operatives, one called cochin venice sells clothes and the other across the roaf sells spices. This is clearly the only place to shop ethically and to be sure you are not getting ripped off, no haggling needed here. As backpackers in our mid sixties, first time in india, this is the first place we stayed at. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a budget place in the best location in fort kochi, Bobby's customer care cannot be equalled!

It was fine as accommodation but was not where it says it is, which the guy probably did on purpose so he could get more bookings (i.e. on the map it looks like a decent location, but it is not), although he was a very nice guy in person. Nice basic room ”

Very enjoyable stay. Great location in quiet neighbourhood but within meters of the heart of Fort Cochin. The staff where very welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to make me feel at home. Check in was smooth an efficient. The room was clean, light and well presented. However I feel it was a little basic for the price. The bathroom was very dingy, it was as big as the room itself but only had one dim light by the door, it also had open windows which let the occasional mosquito in. That aside I had an enjoyable stay.

Bobby is a sweetheart”

I felt comfortable as soon as I arrived. I met other guests, we chilled out, they taught me to cook Indian food, and hung out together every night. I can't recommend this place enough.

Great service and location”

The main advantage of this place is staff ;) Very nice people and ready to help. They have helped us with excursion to Backwaters, buying train tickets, finding places. Also this guesthouse is in very comfortable location - close to Princess St. and all attractions. The room was quite big and relatively clean. There was no hot water, but it was not a problem when outside it was +30-+35. In general - nice place to stay.

Nice, clean guesthouse”

stayed with my boyfriend for a week. our room was on top floor but we didn't get the room i paid for at first but a room with no private bathroom/shower. i'm sure that we wouldn't have gotten another room starting from the second night if i would have not complained. no discount/sorry or nothing even tough i paid for 7 nights in a room with bath and got 6. other than that no complains. still would choose another place for next time if i go to kochi again.

The Place is lovely and clean, nice rooftop, and Bobbie always knows what traveler need. He helped us in everything and also went some extra miles for us. If u like an easy going stay, call Bobbie!

It was nice time, the room was clean with very specific painting on the wall. We spent lovely evening at the balcony... And location is really nice, very close to buses from airport and to all attractions!!!!

Quiet and basic”

rooms are a bit hit and miss, air-con rooms are better and fingers crossed you get a room with a good shower.

Good Location”

We arrived and immediately had a language problem. The mother rang her son to inform about us and we were given a room on 2nd floor. Nobody accompnied us and we didnot get any help to carry our luggage 2 floors up. The steps are narrow and me wearing a size 10 shoes it was only half foot on the steps. The room provided was too small (not suitable for double occupancy). No chair, table or cupboard in the room. Power socket was half broken and exposed. Toilet door was missing its bottom pannel and when the shower was on the water came out from the missing panel. Wash basin was outside in the lobby. The tap was not working. The only way to get water was to bend down and turn on the stop cock at the bottom of the basin. No tea or coffee making facility. The photo shows chairs and tables in the terrace which does not exist. No tea or coffee making facility. Food and drinks were awailable in nearby area. Only cold water in taps.

This was the worst place I stayed in India. The bed was very uncomfortable, the room had an ant infestation, and there were holes in the wall that allowed mosquitoes to enter at night.

Good location, dirty room”

We turned up at 9pm and the man on reception did not have a clue we had booked a reservation.... He went upstairs and made a room which was for the staff we believe. The room was small dark and dingy and had a problem with ants the sheets were also filthy.
