Think twice if you want to book this hotel”
It used to be a good hotel I believe, but obviously it is aged and lack of maintenance. What i can not tolerate is the cleanliness, the room was dirty, stained bed sheet/ towel, horrible toilet- hot water functions intermittent.
Value for Money”
I love this hotel, this is the best of my 3-hotel Myanmar experiences so far. I got our family room at a reasonable price. I thought I had made a wrong decision when I read the whinings and comments in different reviews after I book. But it was all worth it. I don't mind that our room was not on the main building, you can go there anyway and you have access to pool too. The room is super comfortable and clean. The breakfast was way better than my hotels in Yangon (even Yangon hotels are pricier). The staff are very helpful. They let us check-in at 6am(as that's the normal time for the bus to arrive). You can leave your luggage too when you check out. The hotel is near to alot of temples. There's a bike & e-bike rentals nearby. Btw, it's near also to Queen Restaurant, the foods are the best. Try Myanmar Traditional Foods, there are lots of side dishes, and the price is very reasonable. We ate there for 2days.
All facilities are so bad.
Dont cheated by the images and appearance of the hotel, this hotel is literally aged. The management never bother to maintain the hotel, there are many newer hotel along the road.
Poor customer service”
We checked out during weekday (non- peak) but they insisted to follow the check out time at 12pm. Breakfast was poor, they do not replenish the foods, less variety, and the presentation is yucky.
Quiet rooms, decent location, unhelpful staff”
We stayed here for a few days this time, and it's not a bad stay. You do get the feeling that the place is run to make money, not be a hospitable place to stay, though. The desk staff are rather unhelpful until you enquire about something that they can charge you for. They have a very basic knowledge of the area, and aren't willing to give you much information - instead suggesting you book one of their guides. Otherwise, nice hot showers and big rooms make it comfortable for the time you are there.
Too expensive for a two star class hotel”
Room was adequate but not cleaned after first night. 30USD for this room was way too high. Shower was either very cold or scalding hot. Breakfast would have been so much better if they had put heaters (burners or candles) under the stainless steel warming pans that they kept the food in....cold poached eggs, cold baked beans, cold fried potatoes, cold everything. Staff were very polite and helpful but i guess their management doesn't know much about running good places to stay.
Better than expected but a little grubby in places. ”
The hotel situated along a road with numerous restaurants, which made lunch and dinner easy. Bicycles or a taxi is definitely needed to get to the temples, I wouldn't recommend the hotel owned bicycles as they are old and don't have any gears. Staff are very helpful and booked our taxis to see sunrise and sunset. Our twin room was spacious and the beds okay, but the sheets and towels had multiple stains. Breakfast was good, a little cold at times but plenty to set you up for the day. All in all, I would stay here again.
nice place with swimming pool”
This place is well located, it has nice swimming pool with sunchairs. It looks nice. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Unfortunately we stayed in different building, so we had few steps to have breakfast and use of all amenities. The staff is really nice and helpful. Breakfast is really good! There is also bike rental.
Pool was dark green - I nor most other guests dared to use it and no-one put their head under! Only 2 TV channels. E bike I rented there was very old, slow and battery ran out (Got much better elsewhere for same price). Room was ok and clean with functioning AC and coffee facilities. Sink emptied directly into middle of standing area in bathroom - not nice to stand in your toothpaste spit! Breakfast was OK most days but only a buffet (good) on 1 day out of 4. Restaurant staff very nice.
Nice to have a pool”
We stayed in the outside complex and given a dank and smelly downstairs room, but upon request moved us to a much nicer upstairs room without question. Unfortunately no mozzie screens so couldn't open windows, and had to use own mozzie net. Bitten here more than anywhere in Myanmar. Breakfast was good but flat cold, even at 6am opening, but staff happily warmed the eggs for us. Pool is nice, and welcome after a hot and dusty day sightseeing. Overall, it doesn't deserve the bad reviews, but really needs to sort out it's mosquito problem.
OK in the end”
First day was not good as the room ended up with puddles of water after rain in the night. We were moved to another room on request. Internet connection was very poor except for early morning. Breakfast was OK though not spectacular. Staff arranged transport etc well - that was very much appreciated.
Great location in a peaceful part of Bagan”
The location is great. The staff are friendly. The rooms are large and comfortable. It is a 2 star property so one expects a few glitches such as broken shower fitting. Not a complaint at all. The spa was a bonus. Hot water took ages to come through but that is the case all over Myanmar. The swimming pool is lovely - just a pity it was not swimming season. A few more lounges around the pool and soft cushioning on them would be great. Poolside bar is an asset - why is it not open and serving drinks? All up a great place to stay.
I have stayed here before, which is why I chose this hotel again. Nothing much had changed(in a bad way). That staff are friendly and helpful enough but for the number of staff that were there it was Farely dirty. The pool was only occasionally clean looking enough to swim in, the outside "bar" and seating area were covered in bird poo, on occasion the bathroom would smell like a public(Burmese) urinal. Breakfast was also disappointing. I understand that it is low season but only offering a single fried egg, two slices of toast with condiments and a banana is pretty poor. I remember the restaurant having a great breakfast and al a carte menu. So our stay was a little bit disappointing. The queen restaurant next door is great for reasonably priced meals, quick, polite efficient staff and The food is pretty tastey too. The lacquerware factory across the road is great for some gift shopping and the nanda restaurant(traditional Burmese puppet show) on the same road is great for an entertaining dinner. The hotel can organize you transport for the day to go exploring the many stupas and pagodas via horse cart, air conditioned taxi or electric bikes and even excursions outside the area such as mount popa and the farming communities. Or in season graba seat on a hot air balloon. Bagan is one of my favorite places to visit but I think I'll have to find a new hotel. Only book this hotel during the peak/dry season with the extra customers you'll probably see the hotel at its best.
Centrally located in Old Bagan”
Stayed in a standard room for one night at a discounted price. Since we got a very good price and planned on a full day sightseeing tour of Bagan on bicycles, the room was fine with us and we knew in advance before our booking through reviews that all standard rooms are in a double storey building located 40m away and not part of the nicely advertised main hotel building. Only superior and deluxe rooms are in the main hotel building which was nice and cosy with good landscaping but rather expensive. No wifi in our room. Free buffet breakfast was just average and lack of variety. The good points are it's in the centre of old Bagan and very friendly staff. They also got us the cheaper E-lite bus tickets with hotel pick-up to Bagan bus station included to Yangon. The trip was very comfortable with excellent on-board service. Since our departure was in the evening, we are allowed to use the shower at the pool. Located next door is the highly recommended Queen restaurant which serves excellent food. There are also many other restaurants within walking distance. Bagan Princess is a good and affordable hotel if the price is right for rooms in the main hotel building.
Comfortable, but a bit un-maintained”
It was great, in hot season is a swimmingpool definitely recommended. The only bad things were that it could have been better maintained (broken shower) and the wifi wasn't working (but we saw the positive side about going offline).
Ok, nothing impressive”
We stayed for 4 days before and during the water festival. Standard room was not well maintained, sink was not attached stably, many times it almost fell off, shower fell off, etc. If they keep standard room to regular "Standard" and make sure things all work, it would be much better. But staff were helpful though, we rented electric bikes, bicycles, taxis, and flights easily through front desk. We enjoyed Bagan overall. It was a truly beautiful town to visit.
Historical hotel, with nice pool”
The room is big, around 50sqm. But twin beds are very small, only 0.9meter wide. Choose the room on the 2nd floor, it's bright and facing the pool. Otherwise, your room will be dark and damp. The wifi will be disconnected in the daytime, but it will be pretty fast at mid-night. I even can use skpye to talk with my friends. There's a restaurant "Queen“ next door， delicious food and good wifi. A lot of motorbike rental shops ccross the street. Do not ask the hotel to hire horsecart for you, just try get one by yourself.
Bagan is a must for all Burma travellers”
We had four very nice nights at Bagan Princess. The Room was clean and large and everything was working fine, if something did not hte staff would come and help. on our last Day we were able to leave our luggage after check out and still also use the Pool (which is nice too) You have Restaurants Close by even with international cuisine. Bike and E-bike rental at the Hotel or on the opposite side to get everywhere quickly .
A great experience”
It was wonderful, we had just gotten off an overnight bus to Bagan, 5 in the morning, and we knew that they would not let us check in till 2 pm because that is policy. But we get there and tell them what happened. They let us relax by the pool and get us a room that freed up by 10. The service was wonderful the entire way through. They helped us with everything and the breakfast was one of the best I have had in the 2 months I have been on the road. They were great all the way through. They even had a pool. It was fantastic.
