Fantastic Hotel”
We spent a really great stay at Umbra Hotel in Bagan. The hotel is near from the main Pagodas and it is very convenient for sunrise and sunset. They have a nice restaurant around the pool, and anyway, you also have plenty nearby on the street. I would recommend Queen's restaurant that offers gorgeous curry combo. In umbra, you have different range of rooms. I believe we were in one of the simplier ones but it was OK. The hot water was running well, it was clean. They were changing the towels twice a day and they were preparing your bed for the night every evening. The staff is very helpful and nice to have fresh fruit juices around the swimming pool. The breakfast buffet is very nice and you are warmly welcome. The environment is nice. You have a pagoda at the back of the garden. Another thing, use the balloon service offered at the lobby of the hotel (Golden Eagle Ballooning). They are the best. You are first in the air (on time for the sunrise), they are very nice, the take off and landing is so smooth. A real pleasure. And champagne at the arrival!! I really recommend it. It worth the price. Gorgeous to do it above Bagan. It's worthy to stay in Bagan few days and appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the rythme based on the sun.

Great Service!”
We had a wonderful stay at Bagan Umbra! The staff was very friendly and helpful with questions about the area and services available to guests. The pool area was very nice and relaxing after a long day in the sun riding around Bagan. The e-bike rental was an added bonus. A must if you want to see a lot of Bagan. The location was great sandwiched between the temples of Old Bagan and more restaurants in downtown Nyaung-U.

good value for money and great location”
Bagan Umbra is located in the center of New Bagan to Nyaung U road - a great starting point for exploring temples and pagodas of the area. They have free (and relatively fast for Myanmar) Internet access and cycles for rent. Breakfast included pancakes, eggs/omeletes prepared on request, some local noodle-style food and standard juices, coffee and toasts. Good value for money but if you are really on budget I would recommend to search something cheaper at Nyaung U.

Perfect hideaway in Bagan”
Bagan Umbra was great for the three of us traveling in from Yangon. We got a room in one of the older wings and while the bathroom was obviously a little dated and could use a minor touch-up, the room was adequate. The beds were comfortable and the air-conditioning worked well. One of the highlights of the hotel was the staff, they were attentive and quick to help. When our pick-up to the bus station came an hour earlier than expected, the staff searched the hotel grounds for us to inform us. Staff were also very friendly and everyone I came across on the hotel greeted me with a smile. Another highlight was the swimming pool. The main pool is well maintained and provides for the perfect place to relax after a full day of temple visiting. The two other pools leave much to be desired - when we were there, one was under repair and the children's pool looked very dodgy. However, the one working pool makes up for it. Location-wise, the hotel is located at the end of Nyaung U just before Old Bagan begins and is just a few minutes walk away from a couple of restaurants with pretty decent food. The street is pretty quiet compared to the hustle of the other backpackers areas in Nyaung U so if you are looking for the hustle and bustle of backpacker area, this may not be the place for you. We did enjoy the respite though. We were also greeted in the morning by the view of some hot air-balloons passing our way - Although I don't know if this is a regular thing. Our breakfast was inclusive but we found out it costs 5000 Kyat and it is pretty worth it if you aren't expecting too much. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone going to Bagan and looking for a mid-range hotel to stay in.

Lovely resort style accommodation in the Bagan area”
Bagan Umbra Hotel was an absolute delight. I stayed 6 nights in December, 2016. The hotel feels like a resort with two pools and pleasant grounds. The hotel put on a fine Christmas Eve dinner and show. It is a short 20 minute walk to the shops and restaurants in Nyaung U. You can hire e-bikes from the hotel for US$8 a day. For a unique experience, you can hire a horse and cart to visit the temples on the plain from just over the road. I would stay here again if ever in Bagan.

Great by Burmese standards”
Bagan Umbra is located between Nyuang U and Old Bagan, which makes it perfect for exploring the area. Bikes, Ebikes and horsecarts are available for rent from reception. The breakfasts were amazing, best we had in Burma, which were eaten outside in the garden. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There are a good selection of restaurants around the hotel where we walked to, or the town of Nyuang U is about 15 minutes away by bike. When I return to Bagan in in the future, I will stay here again

Good location, value for money”
Me and my friend stayed for two night at Bagan Umbra Hotel. The room was basic and clean. The only issue we had was with the water's low pressure and the drainage was also rather poor (it seems to be a common problem that we came across even in Yangon). In general, it was comfortable for us as we were out for most of the day. The swimming pool is freezing cold although the weather was warm, it was quite an experience for us but we did enjoy jumping into the pool on a hot day. There's another swimming pool (which is older) located in front of our room (Room 404) which was equally cold but it was an older pool that needs some upgrades. The location was good for both of us as it was between Old Bagan/New Bagan and Nyang U. We rented 2 eBikes for 12000kyats (if you rent only one it's 7000kyats and 2000kyats per hour) from a shop about 3-4 shops away from the hotel. I think the shop/bike rental place is called Phi Sone. For food, we went to Harmony Restaurant located next to the hotel and we found it reasonably priced.

Solid Choice”
The Bagan Umbra is three hotels combined into one ... a more basic section, a mid-range section and a swish bit. I believe the swish bit offers the best value. We stayed in the mid-range and were satisfied with the deal. The swimming pools in use were good and clean, the hotel well maintained and it is popular with EU tour groups. The staff are polite and helpful. The in house dining options priced in US dollars now offer not quite such good value to EU citizens as they did before the Euro collapsed against the dollar. However there are several good value dining options nearby and several small shops.

Lovely, well situated hotel with pool ”
A lovely hotel well situated between Nyaung U and Old Bagan with temples all around. Staff were helpful and spoke good English, wifi worked well, and the breakfast (eggs and pancakes made to order) in the garden was worth devoting a bit of time to. The pool was very welcome in the heat of the day and a good bonus compared with other hotels in a similar price range. It's not in town but there's a good row of bar/restaurants very close so we never felt the need to leave the area. Would definitely recommend/stay there again.

Great hotel in Bagan”
The location is great, in Nyaung U, but close to old Bagan can bike to most major temples in 20 mins. The food is great with reasonable price, bike rental just outside of the hotel, also a local BBQ restaurant nearby, many people drive there for dinner. Also a ballon company has office in the hotel. It really has everything you need in Bagan.

All perfect”
Well located (5 minutes by bike in old Bagan) in temples area. Clean and confortable rooms, kindness and helpful staff. 2 beautiful swimming pools. Barbecue restaurant for diner just next to the hotel. Do not hesitate, choose Bagan Umbra hotel.

Almost a 10 but only the new section”
Bagan Umbra has it all, an amazing location for discovering the temples an incredible pool beautiful rooms a great view amazing beds beautiful bathrooms. But only if you stay in the new section. We had booked the oldest villas and walked out of the room and upgraded, it was expensive but very much worth it. In my opinion the old section should be torn down to build another new part. They also rent E-bikes which are fantastic for visiting the area. I would stay again in a second but never in the old villas.

good hotel”
The hotel is situated in Nyang u, on the street to go to old bagan. There are restaurants close, but it's like 2 km from the bus station. It's better to take a tuk tuk. The hotel is big, internet was working at the reception and sometimes in the room. There is a nice swimming pool. The breakfast is a very nice buffet in the garden. Once we eat there for diner and it was actually very good, you should try once. The staff is very kind and helpful. They come twice a day to clean the room and provid some water. The room was not so new, but big, well furnish and comfortable. There is AC which is very important in Bagan! The price is not cheap (30 or 50 $), but this is everywhere in Myanmar if you want a bit of comfort.

Lovely hotel in a great location”
We stayed in a super deluxe room at the Umbra which was lovely. We were on the ground floor overlooking the pool. The room was quiet and a good size with great facilities. The pool was a great size and was welcome after a day of visiting the temples. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We hired e bikes from the hotel in our second day and they arranged for a taxi to take us round the main sights on our first day. A great location to stay i. Bagan.

The best choice for visiting old Bagan”
Great time spent in Bagan Umbra hotel after traveling in train from Mandalay to Bagan. Have a breakfast, hire ebike spend your day observing pagodas and temples of Bagan then have a rest by the hotel pool and then in the afternoon have a nice dinner in the restaurant near by the hotel.

Great location in Bagan”
The location of the Bagan Umbra is the most convenient for temple viewing. A scooter rental shop next door makes getting around a breeze. Restaurant recommendations were good. The newly renovated pool is a great break in the midday. 24 hour service really helps for early dawn pickups to avoid the heat. The staff is very friendly and nice.

Close to Tempels”
all in all Bagan Umbra was a good choice. Breakfast was not really gold and the rooms could need an update but it was clean and quiet with a few Restaurants nearby. The local taxi Mafia had fixed prices, 5000 kt from Jetta to Hotel by horsecart.

Good and very responsible staffs. Very good location”
The staffs are very helpful and caring. They will constantly double check with the bus driver for our trip from bagan to yangon, even this is not their responsibility. Location is perfect because it is very near to old bagan, where all the stupas n pagodas can be found. The place is very quiet and peaceful. Staffs are very polite. Nearby of the hotel there is a few eatery and place for ebike rental. My dad and i really enjoy our stay and it is really the best we have stayed in bagan. We have also go to ngaung u, new bagan and old bagan as backpackers but we still find this hotel to be the best.

Lovely place to stay.”
We stayed 3 nights at the Umbra and really enjoyed it. Our only complaint was the lock on our door that wasn't working properly and they said it was fixed but it was still very dodgy. The breakfast was excellant and location suited us being halfway between Old Bagan and New Bagan. A good place to explore the area from.

A bit of luxury in dusty and dry Bagan”
My friend and I stayed at Umbra for 4 nights while visiting Bagan. This hotel was a relief after a very long and hot bus ride from Mandalay! The swimming pool was nice and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed in one of the basic double rooms in the old part of the hotel, and this was perfectly fine for us. I did however look into some of the new rooms in the new wing and they looked lovely as well, but we were traveling on a budget. The rooms had air-con, a fridge, kettle and a few different TV stations to enjoy when we were exhausted from temple-seeing. Breakfast buffet was ok and had all the basics. In the evenings, they often had some music playing at the pool/restaurant area. Food was a little overpriced, but there are plenty of different places to eat at and you don't have to go very far for them. It was also convenient that you could rent bicycles for $1 for a half day or $2 for a full day. It was pleasant to bike around the temples in the early morning. If traveling between March-June - BEWARE - this is the hottest time of the year and temperatures reach over 40 degrees celsius. The hotel also rents E-bikes or electric scooters for $4 half day and $6 for a full day. Just check to make sure the brakes and lights are working as there are no street lights in Bagan! Overall, if you can afford the luxury, stay here if only for the swimming pool! I recommend getting up early (they start breakfast at 6), go see the temples and come back just before lunch for a swim in the pool and a nap. It gets very hot!
