Beautiful "campus"; rooms are just OK but they do have a/c which is a plus in the hot Bagan summers. Great location to hop on and e-bike and go south, north, or east to explore the villages and temples.

A very pleasant place.Best feature was the view across an empty swimming pool, seeing hand puppets draped over tree branches leading to an old Buddhist Pagoda a 100m away. peaceful and awesome.

I stayed 2 nights. Good points are (1) Swimming pool, (2) Staffs are friendly and helpful. They helped to arrange horse cart, air tickets, and airport transport. (3) Restaurant is good, but the one outside next door is excellent and cheaper.

        Excellent value!”
People are very friendly in Bagan, and the staff at Umbra were no exception. Also very helpful with advice on where to go/what to do. I had a basic room but it was clean and had everything I needed. The grounds, pool, restaurant, etc. were all surprisingly very nice for the cost of the room. Great value overall.

The Hotel is not ones of the most expensive and have two different accommodation, old and new sides. I would definitely recommend the new apartments. Save some time to enjoy the swimming pool and the happy hour. Some good restaurant nearby. Some sunrise and sunset temples walking distance but I would recommend rent a electric bike with the hotel and spend all day long around the amazing Temples and Pagodas.

        Good Stay”
Hotel is well located with lots of restuarants close by, within walking distance. Staff are friendly, breakfast is good and the gardens are beautiful with two swimming pools. I believe there are older and new rooms. Think we stayed in the older rooms which could do with some refreshing , rooms are a bit dark and need to be updated ( the green paint should be the first to go), but clean and comfortable all the same.

Amazing pool! The hotel staff were super helpful with my various requests. The room was clean and bug-free, but not very spacious though. Location was great too (a few minutes drive / ~1.5km walk to Bu Lel Thi pagoda - where I went for amazing sunset and sunrise views)

hotel with good facilities, big pools and a nice garden”
nice hotel, staff is amazingly helpful, in general very good service. Rooms were a bit smaller than other hotels we have stayed in Myanmar, but the facilities were great. The hotel had 2 big pools, so just perfect to pitch in after long day out viewing temples and pagodas...dinner was good, just more expensive comparing to other places around.

The service is 2nd to none. The pool and pagoda is brilliant of a night. The double delux room is possibly the best room iv stayed in Asia at that price. The breakfast is also good with a wide variety of items. Only thing occasional get people clearibg there throats in the pool its a local thing I think

        Beware”
Stayed in Grand Deluxe room which was great, but looking out on the large pool we saw a group of local men soaping themselves and putting on shampoo. They then proceeded to use the pool as a bath. I complained to the Front Desk Manager but nothing was done. You pay extra for the better rooms but anyone can use the large pool, so why bother. Just pay for a standard room and you get the use of the large pool. The staff are fantastic but after paying a lot of money, we only got a better room and that was it.

Great staff and location near the temples”
If you are looking for a relaxing retreat in Bagan, this is a great hotel. It is near the temples and there are good restaurants just beside it for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is superb and so is the staff service. They helped us fix a problem with our bus going to Yangon without us asking for it, very efficient. Recommending this for a group of friends and family

Enjoyable Stay, Refreshing Pool, Not so Good Toilet”
Stayed for a couple of days in one of their Superior rooms. The room was clean and good. The infinity pool is very refreshing after a touring around Bagan and its view by the pagoda while sipping happy hour cocktails was enjoyable. Only drawback was the toilet - although it was big, the layout was not optimal; there was no shower curtain or division between the shower area from the rest of the toilet, making the entire toilet so wet after shower. Hotel provides electric bike rental which is very convenient. The staff were helpful and polite.

        Good location, value for money”
The poolside, location and clean room
Me and my friend stayed for two night at Bagan Umbra Hotel. The room was basic and clean. The only issue we had was with the water's low pressure and the drainage was also rather poor (it seems to be a common problem that we came across even in Yangon). In general, it was comfortable for us as we were out for most of the day. The swimming pool is freezing cold although the weather was warm, it was quite an experience for us but we did enjoy jumping into the pool on a hot day. There's another swimming pool (which is older) located in front of our room (Room 404) which was equally cold but it was an older pool that needs some upgrades. The location was good for both of us as it was between Old Bagan/New Bagan and Nyang U. We rented 2 eBikes for 12000kyats (if you rent only one it's 7000kyats and 2000kyats per hour) from a shop about 3-4 shops away from the hotel. I think the shop/bike rental place is called Phi Sone. For food, we went to Harmony Restaurant located next to the hotel and we found it reasonably priced.

Very helpful staff (let us check in at 4am in the morning and have breakfast without any additional charge). The location is good with an awesome local barbecue just at the exit of the hotel.
The standard rooms are basic (if not poor) but the bed is great. The 2 swimming pools are very appreciated after a long day visiting the temples (however water is cold in December). Staff is great, helped us organize our days. The breakfast buffet is good. I don't recommend the massage in the hotel which is quite expensive and not really good. I strongly recommend to go eat dinner just at the exit of the hotel at the harmony barbecue restaurant. The prices are honest (far more affordable than the dinner option at the hotel) and the food is great.

        Location, food and environment
We arrived very early in the morning, about 6am by night bus from Yangon. The hotel let us checked in immediately without charge. The location is very good, restaurants around, lots choices. I think stay in this area is better than at the new Bagan. If you like to visit new Bagan, rent a electric bike. Stay in old Bagan was worth.

The location of the hotel is ideal - halfway along the main road situated back from the road so you are aware from the car / traffic noise. Having said that, the standard room could best be described as simple barracks-style in one of several rows to the front and side of the hotel - great for backpackers but not so great for someone expecting comfort. I was able to move up to a Deluxe room which was well appounted and had more light as well as access to the pool area. Service and reception were sometimes frustrating - e.g. getting an early wake-up call, finding a taxi and checking out in the early morning. Room service overlooked re-doing my room one day ... That unfavourably coloured my stay.

        room, view, pool, staff, food
Bagan Umbra has it all, an amazing location for discovering the temples an incredible pool beautiful rooms a great view amazing beds beautiful bathrooms. But only if you stay in the new section. We had booked the oldest villas and walked out of the room and upgraded, it was expensive but very much worth it. In my opinion the old section should be torn down to build another new part. They also rent E-bikes which are fantastic for visiting the area. I would stay again in a second but never in the old villas.

The hotel is conveniently located between Old Bagan and Nayung Oo, with close proximity to the major temples and pagodas. The hotel also has a pool so bring your swimsuit. My favourite part about the hotel included the wide selection of breakfast and the BBQ buffett in the evening. The downside is the unmodern bathroom.
