A wonderful surprise in the Peak District of UK”
We liked the old historical building and proximity to the wonderful town of Bakewell, we loved seeing Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall nearby, and we loved the unspoilt countryside.
Bagshaw Hotel was a delightful experience. We stayed in the Chateau Suite overlooking the garden and the town of Bakewell. It was a large and comfortable room with a new large bathroom, surprising in a historical building built in 1684. There was a comfortable lounge room next door and access to a garden terrace, where we enjoyed taking our breakfast and looking over Bakewell, or having a glass of wine in the evening. The town was a five minute walk away and it is a really lovely market town, with plenty of country pubs, tea-rooms and restaurants to choose from. The River Wye is a crystal clear river flowing through the town. The hotel is only 10 minutes from Chatsworth House and Haddon Halll, and close to walking trails and lovely villages in the Peak District. It was a delightfully relaxing experience and we would return again. There is a slight inconvenience in that the owner is not on the premises 24 hours/day, but she was so welcoming and helpful to us. We recommend it to anyone.
