Log cabin comfort in a beautiful setting”
Staff, location, layout
We loved our time here, so much so we shelved our Ulan Ude plans and stayed am extra day.
It's a sizeable property, still in the works, but not disruptively so. We were upgraded to one of their new blocks, which was beautifully constructed in pine, clean bathrooms and comfortable beds. We spent one evening in their private banya, searing hot but wonderfully refreshing.
They have no meals, B&B or full board options. Meals are hearty and plentiful, and served in a room with a lovely view over the Baikal. We were the only guests for the first day, so think they were running with half staff. Meals were preset (although we noticed there were menus) and we weren't able to order drinks for dinner (but there were tea bags and hot water in the corner we helped ourselves to). In truth, it was helpful for us to not need to translate menus and we got a great dining experience.
The hotel is a two minute walk down to the Baikal, and well situated for short hikes to the West following the shore.
The staff were friendly, informative and ever so helpful, particularly Marina and Ekaterina, who went out of their way to sort out some visa registration issues we were having with our previous hotel.
