Trusty Bakung Beach.
I've been coming to this place for years. Great location. Near everything but just far enough away to be quiet at night.

Don't bother. Much better available for same cost
Our booking wasn't up to date and couldn't be found. Asked for rooms together, didn't get it. When we asked, we were told we were "lucky to get ground floor", very rudely by the lady at the desk. Pool was cloudy and smelt like way too strong chlorine. The rooms were well apart. One was newly renovated, in a dark corner with renovations being done beside it. The second was in a dark corner, room smelt musty and was covered in mould, pile of dirt on bathroom floor. Our view from our terrace was a pile of broken chairs and tables and rubbish. Would not recommend.

excellent value
Ideal Balinese older style resort to stay for a few days. 200 yards from beach and the swankier, expensive new hotels all along the beach front, that you walk past as you either walk towards airport runway that juts into the see, or head the otherway for sundowners at Boardwalk , under the tree. Breakfast at Bakung is ample for a day chilling round the pool, and although a sundowner and meal equally cheap and good, you can head to Pantai Restaurant, just 200 yards on the beach to see sunset.

Pool Water Quality - Extremely Poor - It Needs Fixing
This is our second stay at Bakung Beach Resort - this time for 28 days. Bakung Beach Resort staff continue to be extremely friendly and helpful, the room continues to be comfortable and clean. Sadly the water quality of the pool, on this visit, was mystery murky green with virtually no clarity to the pool bottom for the most of my stay. Compared to my last stay, this time there was a significant number of guests who were on sun lounges around the pool area but few in the water. I personally expressed my concerns about the pool water quality with the (extremely friendly) front desk staff on a number of occasions and was assured it would be cleared up "in the next few days". By comparison on my last stay (approx 3 weeks) in Oct 2015 the pool water quality was nice and clear (a normal nice clear "blue" color) and appeared clean (although it did feel over chlorinated irritating a number of swimmers eyes) but the majority of the people at the pool were swimming as well as sunning. Bakung Beach Resort you guys do need to fix this pool water quality issue, ongoing, as an obvious priority. Also stating the obvious the pool area and water quality is as equally important to all guests as is the room quality. Our room was great, the pool water quality, on this last visit of August 2016, was a disappointing disgrace.

Very Good in Most Respects
This hotel is well located, about 15 minutes walk south of Kuta Square. The gardens are attractive and peaceful, and the pool is outstanding. Breakfast was varied and well presented and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and had a nice sitting out area. Our only complaint was that the air conditioner did not cool the room sufficiently to keep the mosquitoes at bay. The main door had large gaps and the mosquitoes swarmed in.

Excellent value hotel, clean, friendly staff. Good quiet location but within 15-20 minute walk of Legian party street. Very close to Kuta reefs beach but short walk to Kuta beach. Relaxing pool and garden areas. Breakfast was included in room price (about 2 USD per day extra) and was good but not wide selection. The wifi worked but was slow and often dropped out. AC was weak. Not a fancy hotel/resort so if you are "high maintenance" or need to be pampered, this is not the place for you. I would stay there again.
