Villa is clean and comfortable and resort is well maintained. We went during the off-peak season (June) and we felt that we had the whole resort to ourselves. Except for the power outage at night (prolonged to early morning), we had a lovely stay overall.
Worth your Time, Effort, and Money!”
It was our first time traveling together to a familiar but unknown place. We were so tired from the trip and was unsure if we’ll actually like the place... however upon arrival (it was evening already) there was no doubt that the place was a paradise. The trip was worth it. We were greeted with some refreshments “watermelon juice” which really tasted great. The place was beautiful, every nook had beautifully detailed design... truthfully it was like we were in Bali or somewhere in Thailand. We do highly recommend this place to anyone. No regrets and best value for money. What you see is what you get but more. Of course , I won’t lie, there were few a cons which just included some maintenance issues like difficulty opening or closing sliding doors etc... We will definitely come back and enjoy another relaxing time in this wonderful eden by the sea.
My two-night stay at Balai sa Baibai was one of the most relaxing vacations I had in the past few months. Their staff is very cordial and accommodating. Service was great. The place is affiliated with local restaurants and they would deliver food to the resort. They have vegan-friendly food as well. There are only two things i didnt like though, got bitten by mosquitoes a lot (bring mosquito repellant lotion) and the walls seem thin. I could hear the footsteps of the guests staying in the other room as well as the staff bustling/talking outside our room. It served as my alarm clock both mornings but other than that, its a SUPERB place to stay in.
Balinese feels in Camiguin.”
A bit pricey if you compare to other resorts/hotels in the area but ALL WORTH IT! They offer free transfers, very nice breakfast (and afternoon snacks/treats), great pool, nice beach (even if its not your typical white sand) and superb staff service!
The property is totally beautiful and exclusive. Very relaxing atmosphere. We were able to stay at the upstairs Garden View room for 2 nights and 1 night at the Sagay Villa. Villa upgrade is worth the additional expense. Breakfast was great and very filling! Snacks in the afternoon was good! The free pick up and drop off at the airport is a nice touch. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. We definitely recommend staying at this resort!
Nice romantic place to stay ”
Have all the pros can have an hotel: private quite place, big cottage, private pool, good towels, good satellite TV. Cons: the shower water have little flow, and the rooms etc need better maintenance.
Not the luxury resort it claims to be”
I was told by several local people that Balai sa BaiBai is the best resort on Camiguin and its website has nice glossy image pictures. Reality is different. While trying to look "exotic" and "exclusive", it is poorly managed. The first morning at 6:00am there was no water to have a much needed shower and to flush the toilet. Disgusting. When there was water, it only trickled out at very low pressure. I resorted to a large bucket and scoop for "showers" as I had no confidence in their ability to supply water consistently. When I talked to hotel owners/managers of other resorts on the island during the trip, they all stated that the water supply is not a problem, hence my conclusion that it is just inept management at the Balai sa baibai causing this great discomfort and annoyance to their guests. The food and service was OK as was the simple room but it is not worth the room rates they charge, even if you find a discounted rate online. Pool cleanliness is dubious. Caution.
Definitely a romantic place for couples 💞 ”
I loved how private and relaxing the place is. The private pool was awesome, it made me super happy. The bathroom was also good. The villas are must haves if you want privacy. They have a small ref, a microvave, a burner, well, it was almost like a house. I loved it. Thank you for the staff who were so kind to us. I would definitely come back to this place.
Luxury on a budget”
Early checkin. Amazing pool. Complimentary merienda every afternoon. Superb breakfast. Instagrammable resort. "Al fresco" toilet and bath. Bali feels. Everything is exceptional except for a few things. On our last night, we went to the sunset bar at 7pm. The staff said they closed early because there were no customers when they opened at 6pm. They didnt bother to open it for us. Disappointing. Good thing there's another bar nearby. Moreover, nobody cleaned the room during our entire stay. Minibar wasnt replenished either.
Peaceful and beautiful place matched with very accomodating staffs. :)”
We stayed at Pool View King Bed and find the room homey; it reminds me of my grandparents ancestral house. The place is quiet and the amenities are well thought of. They serve merienda for free too - a simple gesture that made us smile. :) Only con for us was when we woke up the next day, we saw traces of rat feces in the bar area where we put in leftover breads and snacks. We checked the room and the sliding door leading to the outdoor bathroom could not be shut close and we guessed that was where the rat came in. The next night we heard rat noise but already secured our food in the ref. Hope something can be done about the door! :( Overall we hd fun and surely will stay here again! :)
We stayed in the Garden View Queen Room for two nights and the villa for one night. Our villa review is separate from this one. Elden and the staff were amazing. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and relaxed. Elden's dog Monty was friendly too! The room was spacious and clean and had an amazing view of the garden. The room had extra touches which made it very special, like a TV which pops out of a box, fantastic fresh coffee with a cafetiere, a free snack and drink in the afternoon, and a free beer every day! The breakfast was lovely and although there is no restaurant, the restaurant delivery service is a great alternative. We are both vegetarian and there were lots of options. It was great eating dinner at the bar, watching the sunset. We will definitely stay here again!
We stayed in this resort for three nights, and on the last night we stayed in the Sagay Villa. We loved the resort and decided to treat ourselves by getting a villa room for our final night.. The outside area had seating, a table to eat at, kitchen facilities, a larger than normal hotel fridge, and a fantastic small pool. The room was well worth the money. Please see our other review for more reasons why you should stay at this resort.
This is our first travel in camiguin and our stay in balai sa baibai is totally awesome! ”
Staffs were friendly during our stay. Though we haven't had much time to enjoy the stay during the day bcoz we are enjoying the beauty of camuigin, yet at the end of the day we are looking forward for the comfy and our cozy villa in balai sa baibai, definitely will consider the place to stay when we get back!
I'd stay again despite the many shortcomings”
Pro's: Beautiful resort, quiet place to relax, spacious room, hot/cold shower, yummy breakfast, free coffee and bottled water in room, separate towels for bath and for pool use Con's: We had many stuff to carry with our own hands, the staff didn't even offer to assist - all he did was to help pick up the slippers from the floor and hand it to my boyfriend, he didn't even bother to carry it himself; lighting in the room was too dim (we stayed at the pool view room); room was newly renovated so it was bigger but still smelled of new paint and cement; tv was now too far from the bed; no bath soap provided; pool was cloudy and not cleaned well
homey, comfy, peaceful.
Very nice stay, staff very approachable and accomodating ”
Value for money”
the place was worth it. staff were all courteous and friendly. they’ve always assisted us in all our needs. The whole balai sa baibai is rich with trees with mountains and the sea as your backdrop. You can definitely relax and just forget about the hustle and bustle of the city
A review I couldn't wait to give :)”
I'm from California, and have a place here in the Philippines, so I'm kinda knowledgeable of West Coast USA nice stuff and Philippine nice stuff. This place was off the charts as far as being a piece of heaven. Everything and everybody there was great. I rented two rooms, the one with pool, for my wife and self and the other one for my father and mother in law. Stayed about 3 nights, HIGHLY RECOMMEND ! Especially if your looking for a small place, a quite place, a beautiful place and great customer service.
Serenity In Camiguin”
The place is beautiful. If you want to tour the Island or just to relax in the resort, this is the place to stay. I love having a living room, dining area and your own dip pool in the villa. The bathroom is an experience. Its a small resort so it dose'nt get crowded. it was fully booked when we were there but we rarely see any guest, except during breakfast. Special mention to Mae who always attends to our needs. Staff here are very helpful and courteous. When you stay here be sure to watch the magnificent sunset at the bar. Suggestion to the owner, have a restaurant, that's the only thing missing in this beautiful resort.
Worth every penny spent!”
Staff are very friendly and accomodating! We stayed at one of their villas, The place is exceptional. My kids enjoyed the pool a lot. Food is superb too and presented beautifully . We’ll definitely be back and stay there again when in camiguin
