    Great staff!”

    Staff, location and value

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Balay Bakasyunan. The female staff were super friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean, which is always a big consideration when I travel. It is about a 10-minute walk to Ayala Center through the local neighborhood, which is safe; the staff will also gladly phone a cab for you if you must venture further out. The breakfast is nothing special, but what does one expect for $12/night? I was more than satisfied. All in all, this is a great place; I will return when I catch my flight our of Cebu next month!

    Best hostel in Lahug.”

clean room, kind staff, very safe location

It was really good stylish hostel. To travel Philippine, I always care about the cleanliness, especially of the bathroom, but there was no problem in this hostel. And you also don't need to care about the safety around the place, it is in "village" where is very secure area. I already stayed tens of hotels and hostels in Cebu City, I can say with confidence that this is the best place if you wanna stay under $30.

Safe and secure place within city limits”

This hostel is located inside a village within city limits. It is safe and secure. Fifteen minutes walk to Ayala and the French Bakery and Wine. As a foreigner, we did not have a hard time to find the hostel. There were signs beside the road. Mobile app called Waze also helped. We stayed in their room for 2 persons. We had a pleasant experience. The bedsheet and towels were clean. The bathroom was clean and the water was strong. There was a lock in the bathroom door which was enough to secure us. We did not have a problem using the bathroom. At night, we had a good rest. I love this place. Will come back again soon.

Best hostel except for the transportation!”

Comfortable, friendly guest, use of kitchen

Probably the best hostel in Cebu and the whole Philippines. Reality kind lady owner w 6 girl staff. Very safe in a gated residential area like some ranch in California! The only issue is transportation and difficult to find even for a cabbie. It is about 20m walk from Parklane hotel and it will cost 50pesos by taxi to get there! It is not recommended for transit or first time traveller in Cebu but ideal for someone who likes Cebu and wants to explore the city slowly! I would suggest the owner use Bike rental as a solution to the problem!

    Clean, Staff, Style

Initially booked our stay for Monday but due to change of plans we had to stay in Cebu city on Saturday instead. Contacted the hotel and got to speak with the owner. She was nice enough to move my booking to Saturday with no extra charge. Awesome customer service! The place is in a quiet neighborhood and is only a few minutes walk away from establishments. Very much worth the money.

    Convenience, Clean, Quiet

This time I stayed they installed cable TV. Not that watching TV is the best thing to do on vacation, but it doesn't hurt to have the option. Also as usual, the lovely staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating to my needs. I was able to get Taxi service with ease any time of the day and got to explore the local neighborhood a little more and enjoy some local snacks. This place is spacious and one of the better hostels i've ever stayed at. I am forgetful with names but girls who work at this hostel are super nice. Thanks to them!

    Homey accommodation”

Staff, value for money, quiet location

I was alone in this place when I stayed there and it worked for me because I was keen on finishing my term paper. I met Rachelle and Shana (or was it Shaya?) and had a great dinner with them. We also exchanged stories which, to me, was fascinating and entertaining. I stayed in a female dorm and it was comfortable. The sheets were clean and homey. I just wish this house converted into a hostel would provide towels. Also, I like the homey feel of the place although it is far out from the main street. But if you are looking for a home away from home, I think this is a great place to stay in. Inform the receptionists ahead of time if you need a cab. You can also order fastfod granted that it has to be before 9pm. All in all, my stay was pleasant.

    Too far from main street”

    Price, Staff, Philippine style house

The location is too far from main street. And there's nothing around the hostel. You have to walk about 10 to 15 minutes in hot weather to take a taxi. I took a taxi from Ayala mall and the driver didn't know this place. I needed to use my cellphone(google map) to locate this place. I would spend 10$ more and choose to stay at the better location. Other than that, This place is good for the price.

    affordable, friendly staff, quite surroundings

My stay was quick and pleasant since I was just staying for a layover. The place is an old house converted to a hostel, located inside a residential village. It is centrally located in the city, although walking towards the main road (about 1k walk) can be a problem especially a night. You'll be quite dependent calling for a cab to be able to head out. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are basic yet comfortable.

The hosts were super friendly and helpful. The house was beautiful and well kept. Food service was nice and major shopping areas were within walking distance. Blanch was a great host. Would stay again

Awesome. I got a lot of needed rest and was met with smiles. I was served great local dishes of food and enjoyed the large space inside and and outside. The backyard is ideal to enjoy breakfast and the neighborhood is great for its quiet and peaceful environment. I really enjoyed the friendly staff and the helpful attitude they had. The house host was lovely and most accommodating. I would stay again indeed. Also help with taxi was great and I had no problem getting to places I needed to. Especially the airport. Thank u!

    Friendly staff

We are a group of 8 people. Some occupied the room for 2, others in the dorm-type, while 4 of us in the room for 4. All, except for the air conditioning in the room for is good. The "room for 4" is too small for 4 occupants. Air conditioning is okay in the lower deck, but it's very hot (like you're in a hot kitchen) in the upper deck. We already informed the owner during the 2nd day of our stay and promised s/he would check on this. In the meantime, the staff just let us use a stand fan. Air conditioning in the dorm-type room is far better, just that you won't have your privacy if there are other guests. Up to you.

Chill place to stay and very homey”

My friends and I arrived here around 7pm and we were greeted by 3 of the staff members. They were a bit intimidating at first but approachable as time passed by. This place is inside a subdivision which alone tells you that it is very secure. The downside is that it's not really that accessible since it's quite far from the highway. You also need to walk from the highway to here which is not ideal if you go out at night.
