Our bathroom had a problem, and I called the attention of the receptionist Ms. Cherish. She asked us to wait. After a while, they transferred us to a bigger room with no extra cost. Overall we are satisfied with our stay. A seafood carinderia was nearby, where we ate twice. It is also near the plaza/center. The WIFI signal also reached our room, but quite intermittently. However, breakfast had limited selection. We had a good time at Balay da Blas.
Our room Had only 1 double bed where the aircon was situated. We did notify that we were 5 in our family. So to accomodate the 2 kids, they converted the 2 wooden chair to a bed and had a mattress to make it a bed. So the living room was now comverted to a bedroom of sorts. The problem was the aircon is not capable of making tje whole room cool enough. We had to request for 2 electric fans. The water. In the cr had low pressure so that black water or putik came out making the toilet bowl black and the tiles in the shower room dirty. Food in their resto was a little bit expensive so we opted to go find a cheaper place to eat.
The place is situated just around the town so getting around is easy. And for a spacious room with its own kitchen and bathroom the price is relatively cheap. The staff are nice and accommodating, except for the girl who checked the items in the fridge who was frowning at us. We got a bit excited that there are items in the fridge but got disappointed that you need to pay for them. Also, no free drinking water and coffee. There is also no free shampoo 🙁 So you better bring your own.
Value for Money”
I booked this place mainly for its proximity to the centennial arena. The place is very clean and the staff are helpful. It won't bother me if the breakfast would be added in the room fee. I think with that, it will be less hassle, especially for business travelers who usually request for Official Receipts. I also hope that there's a Senior Citizen discount option available when booking here in Agoda.
The room was very spacious and very clean. The staff acted immediately when I had to ask the pillowcase be replaced because it smelt and looked like someone just used it. I love that the room felt homey. The place is just a walking distance from everything although not exactly near from the center - that is if you don't mind walking. Would love to stay there again next time.
Worth every penny!!!”
Stayed 2 nights at balay da blas. Our room was clean and very spacious. The saramsam restaurant is very convenient located just beside the hotel. Special thanks to Kevin who is super nice and hard working:-). I would stay at balay da blas again when we are in Laoag.
Spacious room with a touch of Spanish ambience”
We were upgraded to Executive suite and considered as this was the best room that we had during our Ilocos trip. The suite is very spacious, could accomodate maybe up to 4 persons, bathroom is also big, clean and full amenities. Wifi is available for free, unfortunately its signal does not have strong access through our room, so we need to stay in front of our room when we need to access internet. Breakfast was paid, we did not book room with breakfast, but cheap and quite delicious especially the mangus.
Friendly pension with well-appointed rooms”
we stayed for three nights at balay da blas and were quite satisfied with the service, location and room size. the hotel is away from downtown and the traffic of laoag city center, but the walk to attractions is only 15 minutes. the hotel was efficient in arranging a couple of full day, private tours for us, and all charges were consolidated on one bill. there is free wifi access, although as in most of the philippines the bandwidth is constrained, but we were able to handle e-mail and flight check-ins. since the property was patterned after a mexican hacienda, the eating area is a lovely patio in the courtyard. we would definitely stay here on future ilocos norte trips.
Great location in Ilocos”
the pension house is located centrally in laoag so it's a nice way to see both ends of ilocos. booked a junior suite and got an upgrade to the executive suite. it was clean, with dining and living area and kitchenette. it was simple but enough for our needs. breakfast wasn't part of what we booked in the hotel but you can choose what you want for breakfast at very affordable prices. you can also have meals from their restaurant, the popular saramsam, delivered to the pension house and you can eat your lunch or dinner at the lovely garden area. all in all, we enjoyed our stay and will gladly book here again on our next visit.
Very nice hotel in the Ilocano tradition”
This hotel was a real find, the decor is very well done with lots of idiosyncratic touches. The owner collects antiques, and they are placed at many different spots in the hotel. It is rustic but comfortable. Service was warm and friendly.
Excellent for the price”
Nice hotel in Ilocano style with a pleasant patio in front. I had the junior suite for 24€: it’s a room plus a sitting room with a mock kitchenette, that is an area shaped like a kitchen with even a sink and a hood but nothing else, no kitchenware, not even a kettle (maybe they had a project that failed....). The decor is very pleasant, the room comfortable and spacious. The bathroom small but sufficient, with hot shower (mind, you have to switch in the boiler), soap dispenser. No hair dryer. The air conditioner is pretty noisy. WiFi only works in the lobby but it’s fast. Breakfast is not included but you have a good choice. The centre is not far but not reachable on foot, first because they have no maps and second because the roads are full of traffic with no sidewalk; a tricycle can get you there in about 5 minutes for 20 pesos. They accept credit cards.
place is okay!
Everything is fine but a there was no Wifi connection in rooms.
The place was great! The rooms are big! The staff are nice!
We enjoyed our stay in that wonderful suite. Just like I did the first time a few years back in the same pension . The place was just like my ancestral home in the province in Aparri, Cagayan . I would definitely stay there again .
Everything is fantastic. The rooms we stayed in were spacious, clean and comfortable. What made our stay more enjoyable are the staff, very accommodating and eager to please. We ate at the saramsam a few times, food was great. I highly recommend this hotel, would love to go back again.
Value for money”
What I like most about this hotel is the value for money. The room is spacious and the food in the restaurant is good and at reasonable price. Facilities wise, nothing much just the basic which for me is okay. If I will go back in Laoag, I'll stay here again.
A touch of old world charm”
Deluxe rooms are apartment sized, and it’s like stepping back 100 years to an era of genteel living, but with modern appointments (TV, a/c, good bathroom etc). Facilities were clean. However, a little too distant from the town centre, and decent restaurants (but the in-house restaurant is quite good). A quiet, tranquil spot. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel had a homey feel with interiors that spoke of good taste. A lamp at the bedroom would be nice though. The food at the coffee shop was very delicious. They served local food at highly reasonable prices.
