"Money well spent"”
Despite all the confusion and kerfuffle at first, I was glad to have chosen this accommodation! Balay de la Rama Bed and Breakfast is very well situated. It was not hard to find at all, contrary to what people had told us in the beginning. It was very convenient in terms of public transportation and is near the town and city. The staff are great too,and helpful. The rooms are nice and air conditioned and my husband loved the fact that there's no tv in the rooms. The rates are also very reasonable, and you get what you paid for. Compared to other hotel accommodations in Daraga or Legaspi,Albay, Philippines, I would say that Balay de la Rama Bed and Breakfast would be the best choice for people who know the place very well. I would stay in this house again when I go back to Bicol. Thank you Balay de la Rama.:)
Pleasant stay. Full amenities. Value for money.”
Balay de la Rama is the family home of the De la Rama family & is being run by their son, Jess, who lives on the ground floor. What is impressive about this place is the investment he & his sister put in to renovate their home & make it completely at par with any other company-run hotel in the Albay area. The result is an up-to-date facility with full amenities such as airconditioning, automatic shower heaters & wi-fi in a cozy home atmosphere. Now, what is even more impressive is that they charge only Php1200 (about 30 USD, as of this writing) per night for a double-occupancy room -- a lot less than all the other comparable hotels in the area. You & your companion get all that plus breakfast included! Jess & his staff are friendly, helpful & give you their personal attention which is more than what you're gonna get at chain hotels. My mom & I had a pleasant stay at Balay de la Rama & there's nothing bad I can say about the place. It's most likely the best value for money you're gonna get in all of Albay. I definitely recommend it to other travelers.
Loved the place! Couldn t get better!”
This place is probably the best accomodation in the town. All the rooms are new, with hot shower, air con and free wifi. Super clean! All the management tries his best to make you feel at home, nice filippino breakfast, arranges tours in the region.... The location is perfect next to all the main attractions (10min. from Cagsawa ruins , 15min. from aiport & Lignon hill, 10 min from Daraga church). And the VIEW!!! Amazing! Couldn t get a better view on Mount Mayon than this one! No actually you can get better! On my second day, I decided to take this tour to visit the Coconut farm and that is a MUST DO if you are staying in Balay de la Rama! Fresh coconuts diectly from the tree, amazing view on Mount Mayon & the Cagsawa Ruins (the coconut farm is located only 10 min walk from the B&B at the top of the hill). We ended this wondeful day by a camping experience (the B&B is renting out tents) at the farm, with marinated squids grilled on wooden fire... and in the background we couldn t see the fire comming out of the Mount Mayon! One of those magic moment which makes you crossing the world!
I recommend this place!”
Thanks to Karen, the owner, for the warm welcome during our three nights stay. I love their breakfast the most esp. the turon they serve everyday. I could have asked for more as it is my favorite...haha! The location is excellent close to buses, tricycles, ATV ride and Cagsawa ruins. There is a coffee shop nearby called Pritti Coffee which is nice. Thanks to Karen for our pleasant stay in her B&B and her helpful ways. After staying at her place we made it to Subic Beach in Matnog. Sorsogon and enjoyed it. The bangkero she suggested was very kind. On our way back to Legaspi City we passed by Balai de la Rama and all we got are pleasant memories. Thanks also to her staff for assisting us carry our luggages and making sure our yummy breakfast is ready at our desired time. There was no instance we felt like strangers. They treat you like a family in a home away from home. Thanks again Karen and staff. We enjoyed our stay in Daraga, Albay. I highly recommend this place to anyone.
A home in Albay”
This place is truly a definition of a home away from home. The place looks like a rest house turned bed and breakfast. The place is comfy and relaxing to stay. The room is good except for the faucet in the sink. Though their staff offered to have it repair but we refused because it will take a while. The breakfast is delicious and can fill up the stomach. The hotel is near the Daraga Church and is 10 minutes away from the airport. The staff especially Karen is very accommodating and welcoming. She made our stay much more convenient. Thanks Balay de la Rama. ❤️👍🏻
super satisfied stay at Balay de la Rama ”
Sure all establishments boasts of good food, good location, good ambience... but one thing that makes Balay de la Rama B&B "different" from the rest is the way they treat their guests... as if they are their relatives. When I requested that our room be placed on a floor where we can always see Mayon Volcano, how happy we were that it was granted. It was a room that is so comfortable and so homey for us. One thing i cannot forget is when i texted the owner Mr. Jess and informed him about my health problem at that time that we were supposed to have another tour. Immediately he replied and wished me well and sent a calamansi juice for me. How deeply touched i was, being a mother. Mr. Jess might not know it but it made my heart happy knowing that he sees to it all clients are in good shape and in good health. Aside from that, Vanni, their tour guide who drove our family for the Albay Provincial Tour, is so respectful and so knowledgeable about the places. And we can't forget also King, the photographer at Cagsawa Ruins, where we had funny pics with his camera tricks. Also Frederick, the tour guide at Hoyop-hoyopan Cave. He is so funny and we had a nice tour also. We will miss everything and we are thankful to God that everything went well with our Legazpi vacation. Until our last day at Legazpi, Mr. Jess was "hands on" he hired a taxi cab on our way to the airport. We shall hold dearly in our hearts our Legazpi vacation. If God willing and we will be back, our top choice will be Balay de la Rama once again. More power to Balay de la Rama and to its owners Mr. Jess and Mam Karen and to your children, God bless and all the best! See you soon!
Very Friendly and Accommodating Staff”
Very nice stay with Balay de la Rama Bed and Breakfast!!! Ate Karen (main front desk staff) was very friendly and very accommodating :) Location is 10 minutes away from the airport via tricycle and is also near Cagsawa Ruins (one jeep ride away, minimum fare). Free breakfast is very satisfying (hindi tinipid kumbaga). Deluxe rooms are not sized similarly, but that's no problem. Toiletries and towels are available. You can leave your luggage with them with no additional cost. Me and my friends definitely recommend this! :)
Incredible Short Vacation”
Balay de la Rama is a nice and cozy bed and breakfast. Ideal for family or couples that are travelling and looking for a relaxing ambiance. The host is very kind and accommodating. The breakfasts are so tasty and were plated like in a hotel. Since we got a room near the garden we requested if they can serve it there to make our experience extra special and they did. Its like we own the house (hahaha) coz their family/staff are so nice. Our room was spacious and very clean, they also have hot and cold shower. The location is near an local restaurant that serves authentic local food (Balay sa Bicol) and Cagsawa Ruins.
Convinient location going to the Visayas”
Our family were traveling to the Visayas when we stayed in Balay de la Rama for a night. Karen was very responsive and accommodating. She waited for our arrival and made sure that we have everything we need for a restful evening- clean room and fresh linens, and even extra bed for our companion. We requested for our breakfast to be packed as we had to leave early to catch our ferry in Sorsogon. At 4:30am, the staff was up with our breakfast prepared for the next leg of our trip. Some areas where they can improve on is the signage of the place— make it bigger and more visible so they are easier to find, as well as invest in a shower with better water pressure (it’s nice that they have hot and cold shower). Best thing about the place are the staff, the homey vibe and the location (along the diversion road). Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would choose to stay with them again. Highly recommended!
Your pay for more than the price!”
We spent 2 days and 1 night at Balay De La Rama, the room was spacious, the internet connection is quite slow but if you're on vacation, it's not an issue. The place has a homey feel. It's quite far from Legazpi center, you have to ride a specific jeepney to reach the place or take the tricycle. Good thing the jeepney we rode knew the place. All in all, the place feels like home. The breakfast is so good. We will be back.
Great Bed and Breakfast”
My Stay at Balay de la Rama Bed and Breakfast , was awesome, very clean and tidy room, with a awesome view of Mount Mayon, Breakfast was excellent, The Owner and his lovely wife make sure your well looked after, and if you need a tour see Jess he does awesome tours Atvs, Waterfalls and thats a must to see, id go back to there anytime, thank you for a great stay
Book early, coz its worth it”
I don't want to trash hotels in the Philippines - as a country it has so much to offer beyond just resorts - but they tend to struggle with consumer welfare and quality, unfortunately especially in the Legaspi area. Balay de la Rama is a resounding exception, it is lovely, safe, clean, and well-maintained. It seemed like it was staffed by family members, who all seemed very committed to their family business rather than the usual front-desk kuya who is brow-beaten by the management and may never have the word "raise" enter his universe during his lifetime. Extra points (in my opinion) for lacking TVs in the bedrooms - they're clearly investing the savings into making your stay more pleasant.
Beautiful bed & breakfast ”
Balay de la Rama need to update their pictures as they really do not do this place justice!!! We had a lovely room on the top floor, very traditional and beautifully styled. The room was large, spacious and incredibly comfortable with a private bathroom (and separate shower with hot water)! The room had a huge window and the communal outside area / stairwell had a great view of the Mayon volcano. Breakfast was very enjoyable. Staff were also wonderful and very kind. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this bed & breakfast to all.
comfort stay in Legazpi”
thank you Balay de la Rama for the very comfortable stay in Legazpi. rooms are very spacious, toilet is very clean. Location is very near Cagsawa Ruins and old Daraga Church.
I love Balay de la Rama 😍😍😍”
I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for the service and care we received at Balay de la Rama Bed and Breakfast Food are great Friendly staff Good Location Value for Money Spacious room will stay again recommended
Lovely, quaint hotel with very good service”
Balay dela Rama is very lovely, clean, and has a very helpful staff. The place is also nice, and is the perfect answer if you're on a tight budget. Location-wise, it is only a few minutes from Daraga Church and Cagsawa Ruins, and is about only half a minute ride to Embarcadero in Legazpi. Transportation is not a problem as well as there are lots of jeepneys and tricycles along the street. All in all, I would highly recommend this place and would say that this is one of the best accommodations if you want value for your money.
comfortable and relaxing”
Balay de la Rama, being the residence itself of the owner, makes me feel at home, with its quite surroundings and nice garden. The owner is accommodating and friendly as well as his staff. The room is not that big, not enough space to move around, but that's okay. It would have been nicer if we're given a room on the second or third floor because it offers a good view of the Mayon. There's just one thing which I'm not comfortable about the room --the toilet and bathroom which is shared with the other room. Overall, our stay with the hotel is just okay.
Karen and all the staff are very accomodating. The room is very nice and clean. Balay de la Rama is very accessible to tourist spots. Breakfast ala King and Queen! .You'll experience a wonderful view of Mayon volcano at the terrace especially in the morning. We will definitely go back to this place and is highly recommended!
my birthday during storm”
1. owner was really friendly and nice. she was always concern about where are we going for that day since shes always ready to offer tips for commuting. tricycle is always a rip off so as much as possible try jeepneys 8pesos per pax vs 70-100pesos per way (5-10min tricycle). 2. breakfast was great. i love their turon! different fruits everyday. 3. very accesible to tourists spot. 1 jeep away to cagsawa ruins. 1 jeep away daraga and other famous fast food chain (biggs,graceland,1st colonial grill) again i recommend jeeps instead of tryks. 3. staffs are approachable and friendly. are return trip was at 6pm. owner was kind enough to have us a late check out at an affordable price and was considerate since there was a tropical storm (urduja?) overall, it was a good choice and just in case ill return to albay, i will still book balay dela rama and recommend it to friends. stayed: dec10-12 and dec 12-15 2017 thank you te! ❤
Felt Like Home”
Getting there It was raining when I arrived at LGP airport. I planned to commute but it was raining so hard I decided to take an airport taxi. Taxi drivers know where Balay de la Rama is and will cost you around Php150.00. The landmark is a diversion road, a big mango tree and a red gate. Stay I arrived around 10am, they are quite strict regarding check in hours. (Check in at 2pm, check out at 12pm) despite the fact that I included a note on my confirmed reservation regarding early check in and flight time. Since it was way too early, the owner suggested a city tour along with the other guest which will last for around half a day. It wasn't really my plan to get a package tour, but since I have someone to share the cost with me, I went on. Breakfast is included, room is large (balcony), sheets are clean, pillows are good, shower room is great - they will provide basic soap and towel. Stores are located beside so you can grab something. I'm not really sure if they are strict regarding bringing of outside food. Tour The tour cost around 900 for a group of 5. Check their website/Facebook for further details. The tour guide used a van, so you can carry your luggage with you. He was friendly, honest and will take care of you during the tour. If you are to avail of the package, ask for his name -------Boie (boy) or engineer as the call him. Cons If you plan to stroll at night, ask for keys to the main door (which is included with the keys provided). I wasn't informed of this and had to knock on the door late at night for a couple of minutes. There's no room tv. Even a small tv will do, just to keep something from the night. There's a big tv in the reception area though. Strict check in hours despite early notice of early check in. Should have been informed to adjust arrival time. Generally, experience was good. Some flaws to be improved. very approachable and welcoming staffs. Perfect location.
