The room was unrenovated, totally different from the photos on the agoda website
It's a beautiful resort and at fantastic location but rooms are so tired and it's time for renovation big time. We tried to upgrade to club room but the rooms were dull not worth for money. We decided to get a villa for a night for our anniversary instead which was beautiful.

I set my expectation too high...
My disappointment started upon checking in. We had been told to wait 15 minutes to wait for the room to be ready. More than 15 Minutes passed but no word from the staff, hadn't we asked them, they would have not told us we have to wait for another 30 minutes more because there is electrical problem in the room. Upon checking in, guest are told of "clauses" to everything. The room (private courtyard room) is so basic, so we have to pay more for an upgrade. Still the Junior Club Suite doesn't impress very much. The staff are friendly and helpful but up to some extent only. The breakfast is limited. Service is not so great, slow and just below satisfactory. The faucets and the shower heads are partially obstructed by crystals, maybe because the water is the resort is a bit salty (probably because of bad purification system). The only good thing about the resort is the pool and the location, and some of the amenities. We decided not to try the spa because of initial disappointments.

Great holiday resort
We have stayed at the Bali Mandira each year for the last 10 years, and it never fails to impress. Great location, service food and accomodation.

Unfortunately we stayed here because we looked at the resorts beautiful location and pools and thought yes this us for a treat. What we did not look into was the family superior room which is where we stayed. It was basically a double room with two extra singles put in. There was no balcony and the parents bed was a standard double. For the price we paid it was over priced and awful. Will not stay there again.

Good location, huge hotel
The hotel layout is good, with huge swimming pool and good area for sun loungers, service is great but downside is that the hotel is very strict with towels issuance which causes a lot of inconvenience for a sunny resort. Another downside is the variety on their menu are very limited missing the very common bar food item (calamari; fried chicken wing etc). Over all, a great hotel and just right next to the beach.

Amazing hotel with poor family rooms
Awesome pool, loved the grassed area under the palms, breakfasts were great, staff so attentive and the gardens immaculate. The bathrooms in the family rooms are disgusting, mouldy, dirty and old, but outside that we had a ball.

loved the pools with swim-up pool bar, waterslides and beach
Clean, Older style rooms in lovely tropical garden setting. Pool area was fantastic for kids with waterslides and beach. Loved the swim up pool bar, yummy cocktails, cold beer and excellent service. Azul had amazing food. There was a 21% additional service charge on all food ,beverage and service. Kids club and babysitting service was very convenient. Could not stay in a better location; beachfront and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. Was also an easy walk to both Seminyak and Kuta.

Home away from home
The resort facilities are great but do tend to be expensive in the eating and drinking areas in the upstairs and outside bar facilities. The resort then asks you to pay for the kabana areas if you wish to reserve them, why should they I wonder? Our deluxe cottage was lovely but I feel their rooms are aging and hence problems with water and toilets sometimes and of course the older superior rooms. None the less we had a wonderful time and they are walking distnace to beaches and shopping.

As always the Bali Mandira was outstanding. The staff were amazing and are always smiling, friendly and contribute to having the best holiday. The facilities and grounds are amazing. The first room I checked into on the third floor was amazing the bed and bathrooms were beautiful unfortunately I didn't have a balcony and changed to a room on the first floor. The room was also beautiful though the bed I assume was old and very soft and the mattress slanted. The Mandira though was still fantastic and I will be going back.
