We traveled to Amed from Tulamben. We were pleasantly surprised by the area and resort. Its a ways up the coast of Amed away from the more populated and crowded areas of Amed but that was part of the charm for us. Resort was beautiful, room was spacious, so was the bathroom and the exterior had a beautiful setup including tables and chairs and a huge bed to lounge and enjoy the splendid view. Restaurant was good but sometimes did not have some of the items listed on the menu. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We dove with their dive shop and were very happy with Nick and his crew. They had very knowledgeable dive masters and provided us with great diving sites every day but were a little short on gear. Most of their gear was old and they could benefit from some new gear but we brought all of our own dive gear. We did have an issue with my husband BCD and they tried to repair the BCD and lent us one of their own. I really like the Baliku and I would stay again but be advised, your room comes with a great view but their are many, many stairs to climb every day in order to get to your room and the view. Also, you need water shoes or dive boots as the beaches have a lot of stones and can be extremely harsh on your feet.

Beautiful Hotel- Peaceful Location- Best Food we h”
Baliku was a perfect place to get away and relax. My husband and I were able to explore the coast on a scooter with ease, and snorkel from the beach. The only downside of staying at Baliku was part of what made it so enjoyable- it is very remote and communication systems showed it. Our SIM card didn't work at the resort, and wi-Fi was spotty depending on the time of day. We also learned that though many businesses advertise accepting Visa cards, it is pretty common for the card readers to not be connecting properly so it's worth having enough cash on hand to cover the bill just in case. Though the hotel and location of Baliku were very nice, our favorite thing about Baliku was the food. We branched out a little to other restaurants out of traveler guilt, but if we go back again, we'll eat every meal at Baliku as every thing we had was absolutely excellent. We would have never expected our hotel to produce the best food of our trip but so far they did.

Beautiful place a bit deserted”
Baliku is a besutiful place with nice rooms and great balconies. The view is just breathtaking. As I was the only guest for a while it is difficult to judge how service would be if there was more people. Dive center is excellent with good guides and nice dive spots around. Only little downside was the internet. If you depend on checking e-mails there is no granted access.

Ok until the end”
Spacious rooms, air conditioning, view
The resort is not amongst the other hotels and shops in Amed, so you do need some form of transportation if you would like to visit other restaurants (shops or dives shops) in the area. The rooms are spacious (4 star by any other standard, no), but nice and the outdoor space for relaxing and/or reading is one of the best features of ea room. The food in the restaurant Is very good and they offer a selection of meals not limited to Indonesian cuisine. Not great. The wifi is a real problem. It seemed to randomly, and just barely, have enough strength at times to download my emails. I was told if I wanted to use a cc (either in the restaurant, activities, or for the use of the motor bike), I would need to wait until the end of my stay for them to process everything at once bc there is a problem with the system. Fine. When I checked out, i reviewed the bill and was asked again if I would pay in cash or cc. Handing my cc over, the man says to me that I need to come with him on a motorbike bc my card has a chip and I need to put in my pin and they don't have a signal at the hotel. This is a 4 star hotel. I told him it is also a regular cc and I'm not getting on a morotbike. We settled that bill. I get on a boat to Gili T. The driver of the boat gets a phone call on his cell, yells my name out and says its for me. On the third attempt (because we are at sea) it's the owner of the hotel yelling and saying I did not pay my bill for scuba diving and snorkeling and I must give the boat crew the $40 (boat crew and hotel not related) right now! In my experience, if there's been an error on either side there is an amicable and decent way to deal with a misunderstanding (or mistake by the hotel not including the activities on my final bill), but this hostile, embarrassing approach!? Not only was he rude and aggressive, but accusatory as if I did it on purpose. I gave the boat crew the money but wow! Would not recommend and an insulting experience.

Nice Hillside Dive Resort”
View, Food, Scuba Diving
Arrived rather late and there were staff waiting for us to check in. Keep in mind this is a small 9 villa resort built on the hillside. At night there typically is only the security guards. since the resort is on the hillside, there are a lot of stairs to climb to get the best view. to me it was worth it. The room is a bit old and worn down and slightly unclean, but all seems very functional for a scuba diver. I really like the large bathtub to soak myself and gear, plus the bright clean area to prepare the gear before the days diving. it also has a pool built into the hillside, also used for the training dives. It seems clean, but I think they need to change water. the food here is great, I really liked all the Balinese style food. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the timing of breakfast that starts at 7:30 am and diving 8:15 am. A real rush to order the food, wait, eat, gear up... dive. the dive center and site is super near the resort. And it is one if the prime dive centers and sites for amed. Overall as a diver, I would recommend this place. Ideally you need to pre order your breakfast the night before to save a few extra minutes.

Lovely, quiet hotel”
The location - close to restaurants, the water view and the rooms
The hotel is beautifully designed with fish ponds between each of the rooms and a small patio at the front of each room, screened by plants to provide privacy. The rooms are lovely - well maintained, very clean, nice outdoor bathrooms and serviced daily. The hotel is located at the end of a lane and is very quiet.
