Fantastic Little Getaway
Balmer Lawn Hotel is just a short walk out of the beautiful village of Brockenhurst and is a perfect location to visit all that the Bew Forest has to offer. The hotel itself is very nice, clean and has all the facilities you would ask for, the outdoor heated pool is brilliant on a nice hot sunny day, which we were fortunate enough to have while we stayed there. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay.

My thoughts
Location; attractive setting; hotel's external appearance good
We thought: (a) room size rather small (b) bathroom unhelpfully up a step (c) bathroom needed an upgrade (d) bedroom and bathroom decor truly awful - looked like a cheap downmarket hostel for the impecunious (d) we had paid a substantial sum for this room and we did not think it was remotely value for money (e) worse, the hotel wanted to charge a lot more for breakfast, which we declined. (f) never again! (g) we did not eat in, nor did we have any real contact with staff - hence no comments on those subjects. So, not necessarily value 1.

A relaxing stay with excellent hotel facilities
The location was outstanding, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very good.
Very friendly from the time we booked in. My wife asked the location of the leisure facilities and we were then conducted on a full tour of everything available at the hotel by a member of staff. All staff were friendly and courteous. Our room had excellent views over the countryside although for a room only stay the room was somewhat overpriced. Leisure facilities in the hotel were first class. The breakfast was good although again on the expensive side and the dinner menu was very good and value for money. The hotel offers immediate safe access to walking and cycling trails and the village of Brockenhurst has reasonable facilities for a comparatively small village. It is also on the main line railway. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Excellent hotel in beautiful location of the New F
Location, comfort, welcome.
It was short but very nice. I had room service twice, both really quick and very good food. Would recommend.

convenient
closeness to function, friendly staff, situation
We were booked into a 'budget' room but I felt that £99 was still very expensive for room only. The room was stifling hot and open windows led to a great deal of noise from some machinery (possibly air con or heating fans) outside. These two factors led to a rather sleepless night. Due to the fact that we were attending a function elsewhere we were unable to make full use of all hotel facilities but generally it seemed pleasant and well kept.

Lovely
Peaceful, old-fashioned atmosphere; beautiful setting
All the staff I had contct with were friendly and helpful in a particularly natural way - not just 'hotel school' charm.

Excellent location
Friendly service
As a base to explore the New Forest this is the perfect place, despite rather non child friendly policies and overall shabby decor. Hotel facilities are reasonable and the service friendly and relaxed, if a little slap dash.

Great location
Comfortable and clean
We had three rooms for a family group, and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in need of a general refurbishment and all looks rather tired. The service is friendly rather than efficient, and the food is generally good. Bar snacks are good value, otherwise food prices are on the high side to be really good value. Rooms were comfortable and very well equipped, with plenty of storage space. Location has to be the main selling point here, on the outskirts of Brockenhurst and very central for all the area has to offer.
