Best resort in Ubud, unforgetable experience! ”

Beautiful resort with rich nature & history, all organic home growed food, unique Javanese bridal houses, natural treated pool with amazing sunset

After vistied all the luxury resorts in Ubud I still think & love Bambu Indah the most! Bambu Indah means beautiful bamboo in Indonesian, the whole place everything all came from nature with history! Entrance, reception, restaurant, spa, meditation building, bridge & toilet are all made by bamboo!! The 11 houses were Javanese bridal houses from many years ago, each one is individually unique, with open bathroom in the back. All the water are naturally treated, even the swimming pool is natural spring water without chemical. Food, vegetable & all ingredients are organic & home grow, there's lake, forecast, huge rice terrace in the back of the resort & perfect view for sunset!...put in short, the whole place is surrounded by the rich creativity and the history of Indonesian, luxury but understated and it touch my heart!

Unforgettable stay at an amazing an innovative resort on the most beautiful land. Worth. It. ”

We loved every minute of our stay at Bambu Indah. The staff was incredibly thoughtful, kind, and helpful. The food was delicious and fresh, largely grown on the property. The aesthetic of the entire resort deserves more than the throwaway phrase of “eco-chic,” it’s a feat of human innovation intertwined with nature. There was some construction on the property as they’re building new houses and making some repairs, but it was hardly the kind of disturbance you’d usually expect. Even the temporary barriers erected in front of new construction were naturally crafted from palm leaves. The riverside pools are so lovely, and we were lucky enough to experience staying in one of the houses as well as one of the tents. If you’re expecting excessive “traditional” luxury you won’t find it here - this resort focuses on natural beauty and sustainability - you need to love the natural world to love Bambu Indah. I can’t say enough good things about this place - many thanks to the Bambu Indah staff!!!

Luxurious Hotel”

Beautiful excluded location, unique villas, and superb services

we enjoyed our stay at bambu indah villa. two months ahead, we requested for a particular house, but ended up staying at kuno house. we were told that another couple reserved the house way more advance than we did, and no email was sent to inform us because of their excluded location. yet, the whole bambu indah villa has internet access, a wifi in fact. we would have appreciated more honesty. we understand that it is more lucrative to favor a couple staying for longer nights than my husband and i who stayed for only three nights. it would have been nice if they were more forthcoming. kuno house was beautiful with high-technology incorporated into a bambo style house. we had a beautiful view of the rice terraces but blocked by trees and other vegetations; it was beautiful nonetheless. bambu indah villa provided great services from booking tours to having dinner at our porch. the breakfast were delicious. overall, we loved the environment in which the bambu indah villa created and provided. it was a wonderful experience to have spent nights there. however, we would not come here again. there were other places in ubud that we stayed in that were equally superb, if not more, without the hefty price.

Lovely location with wonderful unique atmosphere”

Atmosphere, cozy, great smiling staff and unique setting

We had the pleasure of staying in Padi House at Bambu Indah for three days and loved it. If you are looking for a standardized 4 or 5 star hotel vacation, this is not for you. If you are looking for a heart felt experience, intensely unique which might be able to make you find clarity and happiness in your inner being, this is jackpot. The rooms are decorated with taste, the bathrooms are luxuriously simple. The atmosphere is unique and intimate and can not be replicated by any other hotel in the area. Tjok, the Manager was very helpfull and full of ideas on how to fill up our time. The staff could have not been more helpfull and positive, smiles all around, like in a happy little village, untouched by the stresses of modern life. A real jewel. I could not think of going back to Bali without spending more time in this magical place.

Rustic Charm”

Beautiful landscape views

bambu indah is not for everyone but we sure liked it. the rustic javanese cottages perched on the side of a lush green hill are a beautiful location to chill. the hotel is a good 15 minute drive into ubud, however taxis arrive quickly to the hotel once they have been summoned by the front desk staff. we stayed there for 4 nights and took advantage of the on-site restaurant that offered freshly made, appetizing, organic meals each night. a delicious breakfast was included in the cost of our room and could be served either in the beautiful large bamboo structure that houses the restaurant or in the privacy of your own villa.

Jungle living! ”

Wow just wow! We had the moon house for one night and it was by far the best resort that we ever stayed in this lifetime! They served us welcome drinks and towels when we arrived. Our friendly butler Sumadi guided us through. We passed by their own plantation near the reception. Sumadi said that their in house menu changes every day depends what’s available in their organic garden. We then took a lift made of Bamboo down to level 1. Walked thru a bamboo bridge by the river and finally reached the moon house. The greenery view is beautiful overlook the Ayung river and Riverbend house. The private pool looks a lot bigger than in pictures! The resort provides bugs/mozzies repellent, organic shampoo and shower gel. We were worried about mozzies at first but believe it or not, we did not get a single bite! We fall asleep and woke up to the river sound without the provided earplugs. We also have a door front access to the riverside pools. Brekkie was served in the room and I personally love the scrambled tofu which tasted like scrambled eggs. We also had lunch at their woodfire restaurant which was delicious as well, definitely a must try. The resort provides daily activities which guests could sign up for such as yoga, Buffalo washing, cooking classes etc. Oh don’t forget the River Pod, which you could just laze in there for hours! All in all, it was truly a great Bambu Indah experience which we will never forget. Can’t wait to go back there again!

Back to nature, rustic living”

Quiet, Natural, Views

This hotel is great for those who are bored of the luxury resort type of hotels, and are looking for a more authentic and earthy experience. Bambu Indah is not for everyone, it is quite rustic and very eco-living. It is not luxurious but it is comfortable, clean and a unique experience. Definitely worth a try if you are looking to be closer to nature. You need to pick the house you stay in carefully. The website doesn't show enough pictures of the houses, so it is difficult to get a sense of the features of the house. We stayed in the Kuning house for the 1st night. It's charming, but way too small and dark. The floor boards are extremely creaky and the bathroom floor boards have gaps across the entire room, which made it very uncomfortable to walk around on. The only thing we liked about this house was the bed which was very comfortable, and the cool and quiet night air, we slept with the windows open and had the best sleep ever! The hotel kindly upgraded us to the Elora house after we complained about the Kuning House being too small. The Elora House is much more spacious with tons of areas to lounge around, we spent alot of time reading and surfing online (internet connection is very good)on the big day beds. The food at Bambu Indah was def the highlight. Everyday the small but delicious menu would change with lots of vegetarian and healthy options. They use ingredients from their garden and the food is extremely fresh and yummy! One of the main reasons we loved our stay there! The tofu scramble for breakfast is amazing! The natural pool takes a bit of getting used to. Refreshing and great for laps but the moss and algae growing in the pool was not for me. I definitely prefer a traditional pool where I can relax and bob around in.

Great food, beautiful architecture, relaxing

There is no other hotel like Bambu Indah, we felt so close to the culture and nature of Ubud. It was a luxurious and unique experience as we could see the prawns and frogs swimming under our glass floor and have our showers outside. The food is amazing and most planted at their garden. The natural pool is very clean and filled with fresh water. The views are stunning!

Beautifully kept villas overlooking the rice fields with their own vegetable, herb and rice fields.

romantic getaway in a hidden treasure of beauty! bambu indah villa is a great place to unwind and relax, it is hidden from the main section of ubud (approx 10min drive) and can be a little hard for drivers not from the area to find as it has been preserved within nature. there is a beautiful natural lake which converts to a swimming pool and the villas are surrounded by vegetable and herb gardens as well as rice fields. i will definitely visit again!

Uniqueness, peacefulness, sustainability

There is an overall essence that permeates this lovely and unique eco resort, which is one of care and concern not only for the guests but also for our planet! The staff are forever smiling, helpful, attentive and appreciative of the guests who are fortunate enough to be staying at the Bambu Indah. The food was delicious, nutritious and very satisfying! The opportunity to reside in an ancient joglo was amazing and although the surroundings are simple, the experience was very enriching! The sounds of the day and those of the night were completely different -daytime bird song and nighttime frog and gecko music! One word describes it all: INCREDIBLE!!

Bambu Indah is an inspiring Eco conscious, luxury experience. We were blown away at the concept to fruition commitment in living in a responsible, sustainable way. Beautiful rustic villas, good service, wonderful views, a truly unique place to stay!

The stay in Bambu Indah was an unforgettable experience! The villas are just stunning, beautiful rustic finishes and atmosphere. The service was also perfect, rooms were immaculately clean and there were some unforgettable touches like fragrant night-blooming flowers being brought to your room before sleep. The only thing is that you really have to be into rustic to love this place, otherwise choose something else. For me personally it was the best place I have ever stayed, a truly spiritual retreat, would love to come back.

Heaven down a well!”

Bamboo Indah resort is everything that you would wish for in a "big house" designed for family and friends that was the private accommodation of John Hardy, the Bali based, jewelry and household goods designer and manufacturer. He bought with his wife, ten or eleven Javanese bridal rooms overlooking the Java rice fields with facilities and created a Tolkien like environment for his guests. For us the centrepiece is the well based lift down to the riverside grill and river where you can while away, all day if you wish with the swallows and bats and play the bamboo poles that are cleverly designed to play notes. Awesome!

Service, food, surrounds

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this eco-resort. The staff made every effort to ensure it was as comfortable as possible & responded to all my enquiries promptly with a beyond-duty approach. The surrounds were incredibly serene & it was an amazing pleasure to awake to all the sights and sounds each morning. Bambu Indah's unique character not only pampers your soul but takes you into the heart of Indonesian tradition. The rooms are incredibly comfortable, being specifically designed for the climate and thus, surprisingly, sleeping at night came very easily despite the humidity. The selection of incredibly tasty food maintained the Indonesian traditions as well as offering a few international choices for selective eaters, and the restaurant's setting was the highlight of every day. I highly recommend purchasing a complimentary breakfast package. Mine included a complimentary afternoon tea as well & it was a sore fact if ever I missed out on the delicious Balinese rice cake each afternoon. If you are willing to do without the endless flooding of lights & endure a little Balinese humidity till you adjust to the local climate (although A/C is offered in the rooms as well), I would highly recommend this experience to everyone.
