Quiet convenient location with an amicable owner”
The Ban Hao Hotel is more of a homestay than a hotel, but it is very comfortable. The location is located next to a convenient mini-mart and is just up the street from the "walking street". The owner was very friendly and smiled all of the time. She even let us check in much earlier than we expected. I would stay at the Ban Hao Hotel again.

Overall is Good”
Not bad, but this is not a hotel or even hostel/ guesthouse. Ban Hao is a homestay which have only one owner, you will feel like stay with your grandma if you choose to stay here. Good thing is Ban Hao is not too commercial, seem like the owner run this business because she retire and just need something to do. Dont reserve here if you dont like a homestay, this is not a proper place for you.

Not a hotel but a homestay”
too cold in Feb, free bike, noisy
The town is one of the most expensive towns in Thailand due to many Thai tourists. Not many white tourists are spotted like in other touristic places like Pai or any of the islands. Yet, every thing seems pricey and 14 usd a night was the low end in Chiang Khan. Run by only one staff owner the breakfast was too basic and had only 4 pieces of bread left and it was self-service and I ate them all but there was another guest and the owner seemed to be worried about it. The toilet was to shared and the floor was uneven that you could have your feet hurt if not wearing slippers. It is not so far or close to the center but the free bike was a plus. The TV didn't work at all as the owner shut the service in the low season but wifi was OK.

Lovely lady and very helpful”
Greeted with a genuine warm welcome which is always a good start and carried on from there..problem with my room on a arrival so i was booked into the large room with 3 beds on my own for same price, so not really an issue at all. Kinda help yourself to coffee and toast in morning..would definitely stay again and thats a lot to do with the really nice lady who runs it..not right on the mekong but very short walk to that and the walking st..
