horrible guest house (it's not a hotel)”
I had a horrible experience with this hotel, booked for 3 nights, double bed with air con. But air con was not even sufficient for that smaller size room. I had spent 2 nights in unpleasant room temperature and finally I had to ask for a fan for 3rd night. My room was on 4th floor (top floor) and it's more hotter in the day time. And above that, on the 3rd night there was no water in bathroom, and got replied that there was some fault with water tank and it's took almost 2 hours to get repaired. So we couldn't took a evening bath after returning from the beach. Horrible! And even more worst that again there was no water in bathroom in mid night and around 1.30am hotel manager cell phone as there is no reception staff available after 6pm. So we couldn't used toilet for whole night and use our bottled drinking water to wash hand. only got relief on next morning. Even the location is not good as it's just situated in front of a filthy narrow lane which is full of sewage mud and your taxi can't go inside to the lane. I would recommend to look hotels near the beach not in the city as there is not much option and not so good. Better just visit this beautiful island and look for hotel once you reach there.
Clean, large room, friendly staff, close to beach.”
I was at Ban Rak Samed for 3 nights and everything went well. The staffs were friendly and attentive. You can be at the beach in 5-10 minutes walk and the 7-11 is not too far. I'd recommend this hotel to any backpackers who look for affordable price with a good quality.
My mom and I were on a holiday trip in Koh Samed. It was our first time in the island for the both of us. Finding the hotel was not hard since it's only a walking distance from the pier and to the beach as well. The only trouble we got was the street going to the hotel because it was raining for a week before we arrived so the streets were all muddy. The good thing is that the soil is not that soft so whenever we step, our feet didn't sink. The hotel room was ok. I was on a budget so the room was perfectly fine for us. The bed was huge and comfortable enough and the room was clean. We were just there to sleep since we spent all day at the beach.
Staff is very kind and helpful. So many Mosquitos! Not far away from the beach. Water is not clean. A little bit hard to find it. The TV is not that useful because only Thai language that I can not understand. In a word, it still a good place to stay.
Stay away Just horrible”
I can honestly say that was the worst hotel I have ever been to, its not even a hotel its a room. We were put in a room which is directly on the street, it was noisy all the time couldn't sleep one hour, either motorcycles passing by, or atvs and people talking loudly or some running water in the building which is super noisy.
Lovely, simple new clean hotel”
this is a nice hotel, and i enjoyed my stay. its not on the beach or even by the beach for that matter, but its not a far walk. if you want to be in the busier part by the beach, this isn't for you. but if you want to be about a 5-10 minutes walk to the beach, and little food spots, but in a quiet spot, this may be more for you. i enjoyed my stay here, and have nothing negative to say about my stay. except.... sometimes the person who worked there would be hard to find. she would disappear for periods of time, but other than that i would recommend this hotel.
beutifull renovated hotel, great service,”
we stayed there 4 nights in november, the hotel and a couple of restaurants were the only thing i liked at koh samed. it looks like koh samet was a beautifull island but the attendence of so many tourists/people made it luck of cleanless. Honestly the hotel is a great deal.specially for the money. i would definetlly stay again in this hotel :)
Lovely hotel at a great price”
the hotel and the rooms were beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. the rooms were of a really good size and everything was brand new. sai keaw beach is about five-ten minute walk away, but it's quite nice to stay a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of the beach. internet was a little sketchy but that is probably due to the internet on the island. i'd pay double what we paid for staying here! grab yourselves a bargain!
Good location and clean room”
our stay was very pleasant. our room was clean, nicely designed and despite only having a fan... a cool room that was quite spacious. staff were not unfriendly but could maybe be a little more friendly. there is a short walk from the main road to the hotel which is partly flooded with months of rotting, floating items in it. would maybe be nice if that could be drained so guests dont have to try not to step into it while getting to and from hotel. hotel is a short walk from the resort and beach (5 min walk). close to many restaurants.
When I booked the cheapest room I was expecting inhospitable conditions, but didn't expect the room to be unliveable. Initially they gave me the room A3 which had a laundry room attached that was filled with mould and with no air vent to let the mould out. That night was torture and the air was unbreathable. The following morning they agreed to change my room but were pushing for me to pay extra. I told them I don't need AC since it's not that hot in October, I don't care about twin bed/double bed. I just want a decent room for that money (not the cheapest room you can find in Koh Samed by far). The rest of the stay was better but I'm pretty sure the bed had bed bugs or some crawly insects because I've got disgusting swollen bites all over my body like I've never had before in my life! Had to go to the pharmacy to get a cream as the itch was unbereable. So if u go there, better bring along clean sheets and be sure you can handle the smell before the night's sleep.
An horrible smell in the room”
The room was really stinky, horrible, almost impossible to sleep. A smell of sewer. Maybe we were not lucky and this is not their fault, but you can't give a room to the customers when it stinks like this. Furthermore, the air conditioning was not working ...
I have rarely been so pissed !, to spend 15-20 minutes to explain that you want a towel but get a soap, twice in two days is Requested to pay, though I found the receipt that I paid through Agoda, that eventually led him to believe I want to speak to the manager and she also speaks only Thai, no, unless you have a strong mind and a lot of time, choose another hotel !!
Decent hotel if you dont expect anything”
Would recommend this hotel only if you do not expect a lot. The rooms were clean , however the bathroom could have been better equipped with soaps etc. The geyser wasn't working. The staff was polite, language however was big barrier. There are a lot of start dogs right in front of the hotel , so if one is planning to get back late in the night, one needs to ensure that you dont run over the dogs or get bitten. It wasn't worth the price i paid for it at all, however due to year end madness can't complaint too much on the price point.
The worst hotel ever in my life”
I stayed there alone for 1 night, unfortunately it was my worst experience ever in my life particularly with the staff at the reception desk who looked like a tomboy was unhelpful and tried to cheat me by asking for a room key deposit of 500 bahts. Unluckily, i gave her that deposit and forgot to ask about the receipt, then when checking out i asked about getting the deposit back but she said she never asked any deposit from customers. We argued for a while and finally i told her that if i did not get my money back i would call the police so she gave it back. Another bad i got was the air con, it did not work properly and not cool enough so i had to check and clean the filter inside by myself, then the problem was fixed. In conclusion, avoid staying there !!!
Don't stay here”
Terrible. The sewer smell goes into the room and it really stinks bad. The room is 2 doors from the front desk and people come and go 24 hours. No tv for English people. No English speaking people. Very bad dont stay here. Too much money for bad service and room. There are many better places. This place is for Thai only
1) the staff didn't talk english all that much 2) when using their laundry service we got a bag filled with (some) of our clothes + some other residents clothes too. 3) got a really bad flu/allergy thingy the day we got there and after five days we left and, voila, i was cured in 24 hrs. Mold?
Not more than average”
Excellent location about 5 minutes from the pier and 10 from the beach and near every restaurants and bars. The hotel access is real mess ! full of dirt and water but i guess they can't do nothing about it. You have what you pay for and not more here, big enough and very clean rooms, a table outside for the smokers and a few Tv channel for the rainy days. For the bad part Staff is nor friendly or unfriendly they're just inexistant ! saw a men at check in only, and the check out was made by the owner of the food store on front of the hotel (maybe a friend). The internet connexion is unstable and almost inexistant as well. They will ask you a deposit (500 bht) for the keys. Called a staff member for check in a bit later as we were stuck on the rain but they asked a 150 bahts per hours late (!!!!). Overall average .. But for a 700 bahts what do you really expect :)
Very bad hotel”
Very bad location, room not clean, heather water doesnt work so we took only cold shower,no service room to clean, cant ask anything to the reception cause never here, big bed but give only small blanquette for one person and dont even clean and also the water to evacuation was just underthe bed so smell a lot inside the room.i really dont recommend this hotel to anybody.
Good for value money”
I booked 3 rooms there but one of room at first floor had a bad smell inside. The guy at front desk could speak English a little bit. Difficult to find the hotel when arrived. 10-15min to walk to beach. Overall everything is good. Really nice beach and nightlife is awesome.
Nice room and kind service”
Ban Rak Samed Hotel it's a new guest house located near the pier. It suits you if you need a comfortable place where taking your time, without the rush of moving around the island on a taxi or a motorbike. It's not the laid back place where join the relax of the beach, but it's clean, without mosquitos and 10 minutes walk from the first beach. Ui, the girl managing the place, is very nice. We walked from the pier to the Hotel despite our heavy luggage, you don't need the taxi.
