Beautiful setting, nice stay”

Really beautiful setting. You may struggle to find staff members around this accomodation, but we quite like to just be left to ourselves so that was fine for us. We were unlucky one night that a group of people were playing REALLY loud thumping music right outside our bungallo from 10pm until we had to ask/yell at them to turn it down/move away from our bungaloo at about 1 or 2am. Other than that really good though. Think we got a newer bungalo to start and then moved to an older one at the back when we extended our stay - it was really full of bugs (probably 30+ mosquitos buzzing around the light). We fixed this my buying bug spray at the shop so not a big issue. Didn't have the same problem in the newer bungalo.

The cabins are well separated and set in a grassy plot with limestone peaks behind, and very close to the river. The breakfast was very dull, and the staff were rather disinterested, which really let the place down

Basic”

We enjoyed the location of the Banana Bungalows, however, the room was very basic. The bed was typical for Asia, on the harder side. The towels were very old and rough and small. The staff paid very little attention to us. There was nobody available for check in or out and we had to wait for somebody to notice us waiting. Breakfast was included but after eating in one day we opted to eat out. At night music from the river is pumping til late which was a bit challenging. Our hut also bumped up against another behind us and we could hear their tv and talking. It definitely got the job done but there was nothing special about this place. I wouldn’t recommend to friends or family.

A fuir ”

One simple advise: try not to stay here. Why? After your long journey, you are facing a host that is simply not welcoming. No smile nor a kind word. Ur presence even seems to annoy him. The room is ok but you need to ask the host for a towel to take ur shower. Again as he does not bring it or seems to care, you have to go and ask (again)! The shower is hot but barely has power. If your bungalow is on the front you Will have loud music all day & night (and a poor view) The wifi is simply not working AT ALL. Oh and yes...if ur lucky The view is amazing but is that enough? This Town is cool and you can find SO many better places than this one for the same price :)

A nice bungalow in a pleasant part of Vang Vieng”

Great location with no view on the ugly city centre (yet only a few steps away), friendly and helpful staff (not a given in Laos), comfy room and clean toilets

As there are bungalows we weren't sure who and what we will find upon arrival. It turned out there was a 24h reception of friendly staff. The bungalow itself was clean and spacious. There is self-service coffee/ tea available and hot water, toilets are clean and even have hot water. The camp is located in the nicer (at least to our liking) side of town, with a direct access to a lovely walking path to one of the hills. For all travel essentials the town center is only 5 min walk over a pretty bridge, yet you're far away not to disturb the views not the atmosphere. According to us, the place to stay in Vang Vieng.

Best place to stay in Vang Vieng”

Absolutely beautiful location just across the foot bridge from the center of town. Excellent unobstructed views, watching sunset over the mountains from our bungalow was beautiful. Just steps away from local bbqs along the river, so the music can be a bit loud, but otherwise an ideal location. Wifi is basically non-existent unless you're standing at reception. Super clean room, cold A/C, really nicely maintained and modern inside as well as out. Definitely the place to stay in Vang Vieng.

Love the Ambience ”

The place is strategically place in the heart of Vang Vieng but still has a compound of its own, with gorgeous backyard of stunning paddy field which i never failed to catch a sunset everyday. expect a few things, and probably could use a little improvement in the future: 1) no housekeeping along the stay 2) our booking clearly stated provided breakfast, but no one ready to entertain us for breakfast. 3) the staffs despite very friendly and quiet helpful, their english proficiency are a bit lacking made it a bit hard to communicate and get the points across. but i believe this place is quiet a gem in Vang Vieng, for sure.

Excellent and cheap accommodation!!!!!!!!”

Location, surroundings and free Tea & coffee

After the walk across the wooden bridge we found this gorgeous place, hammocks everywhere and each hut has one, free tea and coffee at the communal areas which is also where you get the wifi, it can be a bit hit a miss but just reboot the rooter and you are all good. Staff are friendly and helpful. You are near to all the bars and restaurants but far enough away to enjoy all the peace and quiet by the river. The shared bathrooms are clean. We stayed in hut with shared bathroom and it was clean and basic but a tad on the small side but who cares when the surroundings look like they do there! I will defiantly stay here if I ever went back to Vang Vieng

relaxing atmosphere but still close to the city”

location, bungalow design, beautiful views

I would highly recommend the Banana Bungalow. The location is across the river (across a pedestrian bridge) but an easy 2 minute walk into the small town. We loved being away from all of the noise of the town, in a very quiet area, with absolutely beautiful mountain views. The hotel has two types of bungalows, the cheaper share a common bathroom and hot shower, which are kept quite clean. The more expensive have their own bathrooms and are VERY comfortable! I would recommend going to the hotel, and checking out the rooms to see what you'd prefer, and talking with the very nice owner.

Quite bungalow across the river”

walking distance from bus station, quite location, hammock

We enjoyed our three night stay at Banana Bungalow. We walked across the bamboo bridge from town and it was an easy walk from the bus station. It was across the river so it was nice and quite. The bungalow had a bug net which was needed. Also you can walk or take a mountain bike from this area to two different caves and a lagoon. The sunsets were beautiful and the huge mountain was visible from the hammocks. Free coffee and tea was an added plus.

Amazing!”

Great Location, Great View, Great Place

I could not give more credit to myself for choosing this place! But of course all credit goes to Banana Bungalow and its staff. They don't speak much English but are very helpful and will ensure you have a comfortable stay. The rooms are basic (which was all I needed) and more importantly, clean. I noticed there were rooms that had shared bathrooms and those that were en suite (mine was en suite), so be mindful of which one you choose depending on how picky you are. There's a spot outside for you to build a campfire which is great once the sun goes down as it can get a little chilly. You can be rest assured most guests will flock to the fire once its up and crackling. There are also two cute huts in the garden where you can have your coffee/tea/wifi and mingle with other guests (cups and spoons are there for your use but be sure to wash up after). The location of this place is fantastic! You get the view of the hills on one side and the river on the other. Everything happens here, so its a great place to stay. I definitely recommend it to the non-5-star-hotel travelers.

Decent bungalow and great location”

location on other side of the river was great, bungalows seem to have been updated, restaurant in town serves great food

We came to Banana Bungalows admittedly not expecting much (Lonely Planet calls the bungalows "dilapidated") but were pleasantly surprised to find that the bungalows seemed to have been updated. The location (a short walk over the bridge from the fray of town) was excellent. I'm not 100% sure the sheets and pillow cases had been changed for us (the bed seemed to have been re-made but not with fresh linens - kinda gross so I slept with a light sleeping bag I brought instead) but the bungalow otherwise seemed clean. We also inadvertently ate at the hotel's restaurant in town ("Banana Restaurant") just on the other side of the river with great river/karst views, and the food was delicious. Overall, for the price, not a bad deal, and a great location.

Could be better”

It wasn't so bad, but we've expected more than what we got. The location of the hotel is great; many restaurants, street food, shops and bars all in walking distance. And not noisy because the hotel is on the other side of the river -- the more peaceful side, where there is a small wooden bridge you can use to cross to Vang Vieng downtown. However, our bungalow looked old and worn out compare to others around. The room was kinda dusty and the floor mats were very dirty. And we found two cockroaches one night during our stay which we understand that sometimes you just can't avoid it in nature but still very unpleasant experience. If you like the isolated environment, nice mountain view and good location, maybe this is the right place for you. But we'd rather try other hotel next time.

Amazing view at a friendly place! ”

We had a wonderful stay at this property. We stayed in a clean, well maintained villa. The villa had amazing mountain views from the balcony. - AirCon was new and worked well - Shower Heater was nice and worked well - The bathroom had a big fan, and that helps keep the humidity down in th villa - We enjoyed sitting along th river. One night we even watched people set off paper laterns into the sky! - It was an easy place to access and it's very close to all the main areas in town. We could get anywhere in 2-5 min. When you show up, head over to the Banana Bar down the street. They can take you over to the otherside!
