Fai and Her Family made my stay just awesome, they make everybody feel welcome and do everything for you just to feel comfortable. The food and the sunset are amazing. If I come back to Koh mak I would always chose this place. Thanks for that great time :)

Clean, affordable, great service, ”
So, this place is basically located in a forest, and while it's built onto the coastline, the beach is rocky and unsuitable for swimming. Surprisingly, there were no mosquitoes, just a lot of ants at night. There's no stretch of sand to lay out on, but there are hammocks throughout the property, as well as one for each of the bungalows, and the nearest sand beach was just a short motorbike ride away. Amenities: cool restaurant/lounge with a pool table, foozball table, live music in the evenings, and a cozy deck to watch the sunset. They even have a 2 for 1 happy hour deal. As advertised, Banana Sunset Bar really does offer the best view of the sunset on the island. The food menu is pretty basic, but tasty, and an a la carte breakfast menu and a dinner bbq are also offered. The guesthouse offers free shuttle service to and from whichever pier you arrive at, just call the guesthouse beforehand and they will pick you up. Motorbike rentals are 300 baht per day. Even though there's nowhere to sunbathe, this charming guesthouse is still a great value. The staff couldn't possibly be any more friendly, courteous, and helpful. The bungalows are immaculate, and well decorated in bohemian chic. Soap, toilet paper and bottled water are constantly replenished, and the rooms are quite large, with a big bed, small chaise, lamps, electrical outlets, table and chairs, clothes rack, flashlight, ashtray, wall fan, an umbrela, and a mosquito net(which i never used because my bungalow was sealed and had mosquito screens on the windows). The bathroom was spotless, and had hot water!!! For the price and the amazing service, this place really can't be beat.

2 Nights Stay Was Good!”
Pros: Near to Ao Nid pier, free transfer to & from the pier, free wifi [no need password to connect], open patio to watch sunset and relax, next to the sea with coral rocks, good food & drinks, hammock in front of every room to sit and relax, big room with free towels, soap, toilet paper and water provided, I stayed in a fan room, despite the wall fan, the room had another stand fan, so 2 fans in total and it was not hot at all, helpful staff, motorbike, kayak and bicycle renting at reasonable rates, if you don't know how to drive or ride, you can tell the hotel staff and one of them will ride for you for some extra cash but it's not much. Cons: The hotel only knows about Koh Rayong tours which is opposite to this resort. I wanted information about Koh Kradat tour but they had no idea. I have phobia of dogs and this resort has 2 pet dogs and one of them came to sniff my feet from under the table at the restaurant without me noticing and it was a horrific experience for me. Keep in mind: There are mosquitoes around, so make sure you bring mosquito repellents with you. Conclusion: The resort was great, I had 2 nights of best sleep of my life in the resort because of the calm atmosphere near the sea, the cons I mentioned mainly corresponds to my own personal preferences, not the hotel's negative aspects. All in all, the resort is ideal for seeking calm and relaxation. This resort is worth the money and I would recommend it for other travelers to Koh Mak island.

Amazing stay- brilliant views, best staff”
We stayed here for 3 nights. Firstly, it is a gorgeous place, with a well-done set up to see the most beautiful sunsets and chill with food and beer. Rooms: They provide great value for money with all the basic amenities in place, cleanlinesss, beautiful sea view etc. Service: The service is good for the price you pay. Not exactly proactive but very prompt if you say/mention something. The best part about the resort is the manager- Mr. PK. He is one of the most hospitable guys- with always a friendly smile on his face. He will go out of his way to help you and provide you anything you need. We also liked another guy working there- Toby. He gave us suggestions about where to see shining plankton and also helped us out with kayaks. All in all- one of the best places we have stayed at and most definitely will recommened. Best Place to calm down”
this place is what i call a chill out area. You can watch the sunset while hanging in the hammock and enjoying your food and Cocktails which are selfmade in the bar. Also very nice welcome and service by the staff. They even took me to a football game with other backpackers and some thai people. Sadly they don't have a beach and you have to rent a scooter to reach some other spots at koh mak because the resort is a little aside of civilisation. But this makes it so cozy.

Off-season visit”
We had the most incredible time on the island and Banana sunset resort! We were visiting during off season so we got the most personal service ever. Thomas and manager PK were so friendly! We miss the place already, cocktails and food were tasty and the bungalows were quiet and nice. Perfect place to watch the sunset! Even got to play some football with the locals!

Nice location for good price. Staff is layed back, same as you will be if you go to ko Mak. Good foods, didn't eat bananas though. And the sunset is worth watching from one of the chill beanbags you can sit on.

This is a really well managed simple little resort which is run by 2 young hoteliers who know their stuff. They care about their clients and offer a great service at unbeatable prices. I've been to Ko Mak several times over the last 10 years and can recommend the food here as way better than most of the more expensive long standing resorts along the Ao Kao beach. A solid 8/10 for service and value. Good luck to them!

I love this place nice Bungalow nice staff. might be far from the main road but people on island so friendly. I don't know about the food because when I get there It was a low season so the bar was closed. This is a best place for sunset view on this island.

+lovely and helpful stuff, especially the manager is carrying very good for his guests!! +nice bar area with lots of hammocks, siting and chillout possibilyties, free pooltabel, all is decorated very nice, good food and cocktails +free pick up service from the peer +you can see the beautiful sunset from this place -it is a bit far from the next sand beaches, but you can rent bicycles and motorbikes from there I really enjoyed the relaxed, quiet and peaceful atmosphere at that place.

Cool backpacker vibe even if the bungalows aren't cheap (but in the island price range)! The restaurant/bar shuts down in the low season so the place gets really quiet! The staff is really helpful and friendly. Probably the best sunset spot on the island!

Nice accommodation, right in front of the sea view”
Nice location for Sunset and can chill out at the bar. The room was clean with good air conditioning. The staffs were nice and friendly. Basic choices for menu but really good taste (should try Cambodian food). Be careful of sand flies. They’re everywhere on the island. In all, it’s a nice escape vacation for a lo g weekend;)

Nice sunset view and cool bungalows”
We had one of the new bungalows with sea view, which I highly recommend. Older bungalows were not looking so nice and they did not have a garden view since there were no garden. We had table and chairs on the terrace and we could enjoy the blue sea. Food and drinks were good, fairly priced and sometimes they gave discount. Staff is pretty much hanging around and playing pool so you have to go order yourself and remember what you have bought. It was okay for us but some people might not like it. This place is located a bit far from other places so renting a motorbike or even a bicycle is recommended. Even though this place is on the beach, you can't really swim because it is rocky. There are nice beaches near though. We would go here again!

Exceptional”
Very nice place with the swimming pool and great restaurant with sunset view. They have also every evening life music. Staff is helpful. Room was clean and equipped with A/C. There is nothing to say against. For visiting nice beach you have to use motorbike or bike. Highly recommended.
