NICE HOTEL, THE ONLY REAL HOTEL OPTION IN BANAUE”
WE were overall pleasantly surprised. We knew that the hotel was a little old and expected it to be more dilapidated than what it was. Overall, our experience was very pleasant. The Hotel's location is great, it is away from the center of Banaue, so it is very quiet. The rooms are very spacious and have a nice view. The beds were good and how nice it was to sleep under thick blankets with no aircon, not even an electric fan. There is hot water, which is not always the case in Banaue, although it was only during mornings and evenings. The hotel restaurant serves very good food at affordable prices. The room came with an inclusive breakfast which was quite good overall. I would really recommend this hotel for anyone who goes to Banaue and expects a real hotel with some comfort - not just a lodge or something very basic. There is a swimming pool also, as well as small souvenir shop just few steps down from the swimming pool (going to Tam-an village) where we found very cheap but high quality local handicraft. Very easy to organize trips from the hotel - they have jeepneys and guides, although prices are a little high. Possibility to do nice walks directly from the hotel. Overall, highly recommended.
Comfortable rooms in a good location”
Hotel was not very heavily booked during our one night visit. Good location (quiet but not far from attractions and the town, as well as Banaue Viewpoint), clean rooms, decent food at restaurant, decent breakfast. Staff very friendly and warm. Outings/tours can be booked at the reception (although at a bit of a premium price). We organized a jeepney trip to Batad through the hotel and the driver was kind, friendly, and cautious. Accommodation available for driver at reasonable price. Bus terminal is right at the end of the access road to the hotel, which is very convenient. We had a very enjoyable trip. The only thing I would suggest by way of improvement would be that chairs be made available on the balconies of the 3rd floor (300 level room numbers). There is a beautiful view but you can't sit and look at it because there are no chairs on the balcony.
I booked 11 hotels through agoda. for our 3 weeks vacation (Philippines, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur) and this lovely hotel stands out. The only regret- was we missed the cultural show; cause we checked in late. The hospitality; food and location is excellent. The hotel made efforts to put up my long name in front of the hotel to welcome us and the genuine hospitality of the Ifugaos serving welcome drinks and breakfast is awesome. I booked 3 rooms and 2 rooms were connected which is perfect. The prompt service and natural airconditioning really adds up. The mattress; water; gift shop; lobby and the surrounding area makes Banaue hotel an excellent place to stay while visiting the Banaue Rice Terraces.
Better than what I recalled”
My family and I first stayed in Banaue Hotel almost two decades ago at a time that the Halsema Highway was still not paved and the trip from Baguio City to Banaue would take 12 hours or so through winding roads. The Banaue Hotel that I recalled staying in back then was a dark and dreary place with no hot water for bathing and frequent blackouts. Fast forward to 2017/2018 (stayed 12/31/17 - 1/1/18), when we arrived at the hotel after a 6-hour drive from Tuguegarao City, we were welcomed by a brighter and more open lobby than what I recalled. There was Wi-Fi reception at the hotel lobby. While the rooms are still dated, they were comfortable and clean. Fortunately for us this time, there was hot water for bathing though you have to make use of the bucket and tabo since the shower was not working but is still an improvement of NO HOT WATER. Food was okay, not something to rave about. Location was great since we were headed to Baguio City next via Halsema Highway.
I would stay there again when in banaue. It is the best hotel in the area. It is not in the town center, good because it is far from the chaos. It is old but adequately maintained. It offers tours around the area, priced the same as those prescribed by the tourism authority. If there are enough guests, which it did that time, it lets a cultural group do show, for whatever donation one may give.
Amazing View! It's like finding a real treasure😊”
Banaue Hotel is totally amazing with its unspoiled view of the terraces and villages. Cleanliness is a plus. However, noisy guests can be heard sometimes but it's bearable. Their restaurant (also with a relaxing view) offers a variety of choices, and in big servings. Buffet breakfast for guests is okay for me, you get your money's worth. The pool looks clean. My family loved the place and we hope to stay here again. I can say that it's one of the best place to stay in Banaue😊, a blessed one!
Centrally located with a view of rice terraces”
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Banaue Hotel. It was a good base for our trips to the rice terraces, including Batad and Banaue Rice Terraces, both Unesco World Heritage Sites. From the hotel, we went on a day trip to Sagada, Mt Province. We got all our transport vehicles and tour guides through the hotel. Banaue Hotel is a very quiet hotel. Not much evening activities except cultural dances on select nights. Banaue Hotel is not a great hotel but it's the only one in town.
Lovely hotel with a great view”
With few bus trips going to Banaue, the hotel anticipated us to arrive quite earlier than the standard check-in time. A van is waiting for us at the main highway to take us to the hotel. The clerk allowed us to check-in early. The hotel has a charm of an old woman with years of experience n hospitality. The rooms are spacious, and the terrace is looking out to the the mountain and rice terraces as backdrop of a small village. Rooms don't have aircon. But in a lovely and cold place like theirs, we never missed having one. TV is only available at the hotel lobby but who would need a TV when you are that close to nature? Food is great. We enjoyed pinoy hospitality at its best.
Old time resort with lots of character and excellent service ”
This is a lovely old run down resort, owned and run by the tourist authority. The service is great, very friendly and helpful. Large rooms with a nice old hardwood decor. Rooms all have an outstanding view over Banaue valley. Meals in the restaurant are buffet or menu, good food both western and Pinas, with moderate pricing around $10 /head. For breakfast could have used some bacon. Pool is unheated and a little old, but it's clean and refreshin. There is a bar and a local tribal dancing show in the evening which was informative. Overall the hotel is full of character. Did the Tam-an Poitan hike from the hotel, very good, descent into a lush valley.
An excellent choice”
The only REAL hotel in Banaue! Wonderful ambiance with colonial wooded charm. Not in the centre of town, but only a short walk away, or Tricycles arranged by the front security - a cheap ride. Great beds/doonas. Nice room ambiance. Great views from room and small private balcony. Excellent swimming pool. Top (inclusive) buffet breakfast and good lunch/dinner dining with terrific views. Rooms kept very clean and tidy. All staff very helpful/friendly.
Banaue Hotel June 2013”
As previous reviews stated, Banaue does not have your typical 4 or 5 star hotels. However, this hotel appears to standout from all the other bed and breakfast family operated type establishments. The view from our room was excellent, overlooking the mountains. There is no TV or air conditioning; however, the weather is cool enough and the view substitutes the need for other visual stimulation. The rooms are super quiet. This is in contrast to the other hotels in the city center. The hotel is quite isolated, hence the quietness, but you would need to take the trike or motorcycle into town. You can also walk for about 15 minutes. The corn beef at buffet breakfast was excellent. They also have bangus and eggs. At night, there is a cultural show in the large lobby area. There were people from other hotels that came over to watch the cultural show.
As good as it gets for Banaue”
Unexpectedly good for Banaue area. Our room looked more beautiful than on pictures. Wifi in lobby was very good. Food was good. Hotel offers many different tours. Toilet and bathroom not up to modern standards but it needs to be said for Banaue its probably as good as it gets. Some bugs decided to make our room their home.
Cosy hotel @ great location”
Banaue Hotel is a great, cosy hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. When arranging tours around Banaue of any kind, ask for the tour guide Loi. Had a great time with that guy. The cosy lounge of the hotel with a big fireplace and the view over the rice terraces make this hotel worth a stay! Enjoy!
Beautiful dining room and lobby”
This was a wonderful, grand hotel with a lodge-type feeling. The place was lovely and convenient to the hertitage rice paddies. The staff were attentive, friendly and gave great service. It seemed like they were constantly cleaning. We both loved staying at the Banaue Hotel. The views were stunning too! We highly reccommend this hotel!
Vintage hotel and great view of the rice terraces”
Old but so clean hotel with nicely vintage interior design, the location is little far from town center but this is good for who want to live peacefully, and no worry, the hotel has the service jeepney to almost everywhere. Good points: great view of rice terraces and Banaue living places. The helpful & professional front desk service but without smile
The only real hotel in Banaue!”
We were recommended this hotel by a friend as it is really the only proper hotel in Banaue. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke very good English. We were surprised to learn that it is Government owned. The whole place is timbered and looks good and is inkeeping with the local environment. There were some quirky aspects to the room but it was comfortable and clean. We were told that a cultural show could be arranged if enough guests requested it. We managed to persuade sufficient guests to request it and we were not disappointed. I was excellent. Banaue has amazing rice terraces and is a must see place for any visitor to the Philippines.
Old, charming lodge with nice view”
this is probably the best lodging in banaue in terms of western comforts, plus the view from the rooms and the large dining room is great. we were pleasantly surprised that while it is labeled a hotel, it is layed out like a resort lodge. we enjoyed the cultural performance our first evening at the hotel and we found a nice selection of quality souveniers in their lobby shops. the buffet dinners are a good value (but only offered when they have sufficient guests). we liked seeing the large selection of western options on the buffet and the menu. the breakfast buffet was generous and varied each day. the hotel arranges for jeepneys and has set prices for each of the numerous site-seeing options. a/c is not needed ... fans surfice. we didn't miss the tv.
Great Way to Experience the Beauty of Banaue”
the hotel staff was very friendly. in the morning, we were able to watch the sunrise out the hotel window; this view of light flooding the valley and illuminating the rice terraces was one of the best parts of our experience at this hotel. the hotel provides tour packages to all of the main rice terraces, including transportation and experienced guides. this was a great hotel and a great way to see banaue.
Oldest hotel in Banaue still delivers”
We have stayed in a wide array of accommodations. This hotel has seen better days but it still tries to deliver relative cleanliness, comfort, services in a convenient location in Banaue. What we especially liked: a surprise and free cultural show, the variety and generosity of Philippine food in the restaurant, and the conveniently located souvenir shops with relatively reasonably-priced goods. For $50/night with free breakfast, I was willing to stay in the Banaue hotel for the second time.
Best and only hotel”
In manila or cebu I would give 3 stars maximum , but in the mountains it's the only hotel everything else is only a hostel the rooms are from the 80's with nice mint green washrooms..but everything works and is clean. The restaurant is great if you order from the menu the buffet is not so great. All in one the only place to stay if you are in banaue.
