Small, central, and modern with glimpses of traditional is what best describes Banthai Village Hotel. Located within the walls of the old city, guests are in an excellent position to explore the city on foot. Within walking distance is the famed Walking Market, as well as dozens of temples. Hiring a pick-up taxi will be easy to visit the Night Bazaar, Doi Suthep, Botanical Gardens, and Bhuping Palace. The 23 rooms at this boutique property are well-designed with each featuring a balcony and unique bathroom designs. There is a poolside restaurant onsite, and within walking distance guests will come across numerous restaurants catering to a wide range of tastes. Banthai Village Hotel, in the heart of the old city, is an excellent hotel from which to explore the charm of Chiang Mai.

I would have requested rooms in the upper floors. You need to always draw or close the curtains if you are in the ground floor as you can easily be seen from the outside. Others might like that kind of privacy, but the reason I chose the hotel is I was expecting to have always an open view of the garden. The staff are super excellent and the breakfast buffet is really good!
Great place to stay”
Beautiful oasis tucked away from the busy street. The staff was extremely helpful in arranging rides and keeping tabs on our schedule. I recommend the laundry just outside Banthai. It’s cheap, fast,, and you don’t have to itemize.
Could be better”
In general, the ambience of hotel is nice. Location is not bad, inside town and walkable to night market. However the room that we stays was so thin. We could here everything from the road, sound of steps at staircase. Even for myself who is not a light sleeper, couldn't sleep well. Staffs are quite ignorance. We don't mind with the parking, but would recommend to have some staff attend when guest arrive. We have stayed somewhere else that have similar ambience, so knowing that this place could be better.
Pleasent stay. ”
Clean and charming hotel. Love the pool area with lush greens and thai architecture. There are two buikdings. Smaller building across street had small but picture perfect pool with flowers and water fountain. Well maintained and friendly staff. Enjoyed my stay and i would stay here again.
A quiet & comfortable stay”
Located in an inner & quiet place. The hotel environment and the room size are perfect. Here are some tips for other travellers, bring your own tooth paste & tooth brush, better put your room card on the table while you are having breakfast, otherwise the staff will keep asking for your room number.......
Happy with our stay”
The hotel is situated in a quiet soi but within 10min walk to the centre, and there are shops and restaurants nearer than that anyway. We sadly couldn't use the pool as it was way too cold for us, but really enjoyed the decor of the hotel and the rooms which were nice and spacious. The staff was really helpful in helping us organise onwards travel by private car.
My stay at the this hotel was good. The breakfast in the morning is exactly what you need to start your day. Plenty to choose from and the staff are very helpful. I do think that this hotel is over priced, it does have a great location which is quiet, but I have stayed at other hotels in Chiang Mai and they provide exactly what this hotel does, but better and a more affordable price for regular travellers.
Charming little Thai village”
I was travelling with my mom so I made a request in advance to give me a ground-floor room facing the pool. They were very quick to respond to my query and confirm availability. They were also helpful in arranging our transportation and tours, although the staff needs to be trained better on this (there is only 1 tour conceirge who is very knowledgeable about this, but goes home after 4pm). The location was also very convenient. It's in the middle of Chiang Mai that's close to the walled city, night bazaar, Warorot market and the main road. Comfort and space are also a big factor, but airconditioning needs to be repaired. And lastly, I loved the overall style of Banthai. It's very Thai, sleek, well-appointed furnitures and breezy despite the humid weather.
Our favorite place in Chiang Mai ”
This was our second time staying at Banthai Village, and it was exactly as we remembered it--perfect! The grounds are beautiful. It is an absolute oasis in the middle of Chiang Mai. Staff is excellent and accommodating. The room was big and clean. We would stay here again for sure.
I liked this hotel so much I found it hard to get myself out into the town of Chiang Mai each day! The design is a gorgeous mix of traditional teak with modern concrete features in bathrooms and verandas. Lovely pool. Lovely staff. Tasty breakfast (although I'd recommend going out for lunch). The only thing that would make it better would be if a massage therapist was available for bookings at the hotel itself rather than having to leave. Would recommend.
I love this hotel & will definitely be back in a few months & stay in Banthai Village. Will recommend this hotel to friends who are planning to visit Chiang Mai. The staff are very friendly & are always willing to help you for directions to places you may want to go. One more good thing about this hotel is they could arrange a tour for you if you want to visit temples, elephant camp, garden, hilltribe villages & many more.. The only comment I have for this hotel for improvement are the mosquitos. Must think of a way to eliminate or at least lessen the presence of mosquitos. But overall I had a great time at Banthai Village!
Amazing attention to detail”
We were delightfully surprised when we were provided with a double upgrade to their Ban Thai Suite as we were celebrating our honeymoon. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive, the rooms spacious and comfortable and it was great seeing local Thai dishes being served for breakfast. Shame there is not enough parking and the guard doesn't help much in finding parking.
nice traditional thai style decor in city”
we've there twice in our Chiang Mai visit. The hotel is in a great location. You can walk to Night Bazaar, Tha Pea Gate and walking distance within 10 min. But it was hard for us to find the hotel at first as the signage weren't that great. They were kind of hidden behind trees or other signs. The room was nice and clean, different design for the bathroom but it wasn't bad. Room service was fast and the food was pretty good. The property design was very different. It was 3 different blocks of land been put together. Twice, we were in a different building that has a small public road in the between. Weird but ok :)
Nice hotel with a friendly staff”
I found the hotel lovely with a traditional Chiangmai feel to it, along with several Japanese touches. The staff was friendly, and the location perfect. I have no complaints and would definitely stay there again
Great place to be”
Banthai has expanded bigger since my last stay. they have plenty of rooms than before. it is ideally located with easy access to food, massage, shopping and night market for weekend. Strongly recommended for couple who love food and shopping. Staff service are great as they r friendly and flexible.
Lush green beautiful hotel”
As soon as I walked into the hotel I was struck by the beautiful lush greenery. The room was very comfortable with a nice bed although there will be mosquitoes to deal with due to being in such lush settings. The hotel does provide mosquito spray to deal with those pesky insects. The wifi works well and is fast and the hotel also provides computers for those without laptops or iPads. The breakfast was tasty and had a nice variety of foods. I didn't realize that they also provide free bicycle usage as part of your stay. I wish I had known this when I checked into the hotel as I would not have rented a scooter. One night I returned to the hotel around 3am and was very hungry. I asked the staff if I could find any food nearby and they told me to go to the 7-11. One of the staff told me that they would take me and they proceeded to drive me to the 7-11. Awesome service!
Beautifull , Peacefull , traditional Thai Hotel”

Excellent service n location”
The staffs were very helpful and service is fast and prompt. Location is made easy for us to move around the downtown. Easy access to laundry shop beside the hotel if anyone is staying long period in Chiang Mai. Foods are good and delicious in the hotel compound as well.
Great Northern Thai's style stay”
I have nothing to complain the services they had provided to me during the stay, enjoy the great Thai style decored rooms which is cosy and comfortable, quiet at night, near to night bazaar. Definitely come back again.
charming boutique hotel”
this is a boutique hotel, small but delicate, with swimming pool. the location is good also, it near the night market. the bed is soft and confortable, brakefast is not much choice but the quality was quite ok. a delightful stay in chiangmai. you may spend half a day not going out but stay in the hotel reading or take a nap, or falling in meditation is also very enjoyable.
