A really good place with some room for improvement!”
Overall, we absolutely loved our stay at Bat & Arrow. The place was nice, the music was good and our room was cool with the walls made with beer bottles! The staff was friendly and it's good value for the money. However, since they're still new at having guests who sleep there (because the rooms are newer than the bar itself), there's room for improvement. For starters, I would say that they should have staff that speaks at least some basic English. Maybe 2 people there, including Ricardo, spoke great English! However, most of them did not understand the most simple sentences. There was also a staff member who would always whistle at my girlfriend every-single-time we passed beside him. Absolutely rude & unprofessional behavior. Another example of the limited English was one morning, they took our order for breakfast, which was two sandwiches & brought us pancakes. When we tried to explain that it was the wrong order, the staff did not understand, so we started eating them. There eventually was another staff member who understood us & they brought us 1 sandwich. That being said, that place is awesome, the music excellent, great location! It was really a refreshing place to be at, considering that Padang city is a very rough city for tourists (pollution + many "bule" calls). Cheers!

AMAZING HOTEL ”
I can’t say how much I loved this place, from the staff to the atmosphere, food, room cleanliness, and hospitality were amazing. This is probably one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I would go out of my way just to stay here again if given the opportunity. The building itself is wonderful and then they put a trendy hotel/bar in it. Beds/restrooms are comfy and clean, the staff is fantastic. Stay here!!!

Yes, the hotel is a very interesting refurbishment of an old building. It has an industrial design... everything is nice. Just some thing hard to understand. There's no door for the bathroom, the room we were given (number 10) is separated only by a metal grill from the staff room, so you can hear them work and talk and they can hear you as well, so not really private at all... also noisy. Food is good and well prepared just a bit over priced and very slow. Staff is quite kind.

Not if you're looking for a normal hotel room ”
Interesting place which must fill a special niche given the good reviews. Maybe they didn't take the "family room". Wierd goth vibe which waa fine, but the room had walls which were only screen for the top half metre or so. We could hear everything going on in the kitchen and the loud music and bright lights came directly into our room. Ot was quieter between about 2 am and 5 am. Staff were nice, breakfast was fried rice or noodles with coffee or juice. We prepaid 3 nights and didn't have our room made up, towels replaced or anything for the whole time. There was a kettle but no coffee or tea to go with it. For 25% of the price, the lack of sleep might have been worth it. Unless someone told you to stay here for some specific reason, if you're just looking for a decent room, go elsewhere.

Great alternative to homestay”
While I generally find homestays charming, I cannot recommend the BatnArrow enough. The place has a great vibe. Situated in a Dutch ruin, it is stylish and green. The food offered at the bar is amazing and the staff was so nice! As to the loud music: I stayed two nights and there was none. But it was Ramadan, so that'll be most likely the reason. Enjoy your stay there! (Try their juices!)
