"we arrived there around 2 pm and checked in afterwards. we were surprised to see that the room was spacious, given the fact that you only pay RM220++ per night, i can say its way cheaper compared to any other 4 stars hotel in Batu Ferringhi. The bathroom was quite spacious with a bathtub. The service was up to par for a 4 stars hotel. We had breakfast that was consist of locals as well as western delicacies. and we had all that by the charming view of Batu Ferringhi beach. thumbs up for Bayview Beach Resort Batu Ferringhi, Penang."

"The hotel is located in a quiet area within Batu Ferringhi. The room is very spacious and the bed is very comfy. But the quantity of the shower gel and shampoo provided is too little. Not quite enough for 2 persons. If the hotel could add a coffee table in the room that would be perfect. Overall the ambience of the hotel is very nice and very resort feel. Building and furnitures are well maintained. Cookies provided by the reception upon check in is yummy."

"This hotel has invested significantly into recent refurbishment of their interiors ( as many of these hotels in batu ferringhi have been there 30+years and are quite dated), and it has really paid off! The rooms and all interior areas of the hotel are new, modern, with interesting and high quality design elements - we were really impressed. We stayed in a King deluxe- and the room was beautifully furnished, day bed as well which was a nice bonus, very comfortable. Only slight annoying thing was that the roosting pigeons outside our room were very noisy, all day and night- not sure whether the hotel can do much about that. The breakfast buffet was excellent - extensive selection, high quality, really can't fault it. What makes this hotel standout however are the staff- who have well-spoken English (we have stayed a few malaysian hotels, and this is not always a given), friendly, professional mannered, helpful service WITH A SMILE! Truly the staff seemed happy to be working there."

"I really love it! Never regret of choosing hard rock hotel penang as my hotel destination. I was thinking of staying at the other hotels in batu ferringhi, but tempted by the hard rock concept, and i can tell you it was not a dissapointment. A perfect stay. Nice beach with greenish blue water. A lot of reflexology centre nearby the hotel and last but not least, the food!! Nobody could stay in penang without having to try the local delicacies. The world famous assam laksa, the rojak pasembor, and as well as the nasi kandar. They are regarded as penang staple food, and i can say it is not a trouble getting those food because they are just a walking distance from the hotel! Hard Rock Hotel Penang, the best hotel in the world!"

"was very pleasantly surprised when arrived here late at night and was greeted by very friendly helpful staff. the hotel setting is delightful, right on the beach (public not private) with a lovely pool and pine trees in abundance which gave a certain amount of privacy about it. i think the downside for me was because the beach is public, you had the constant sound of jet-ski's and screaming girls on the 'banana' ride, which made it difficult to relax by the pool or to have a reasonable lie-in in the morning. there are quite a few other resort hotels in batu ferringhi and they are pretty much the same as each other, whereas lone pine was quite unique"

"Best holiday yet. And the best hotel on the Batu Ferringhi strip. Be very careful when booking at the Shangri-La Penang as there are 2 separate wings - The Garden Wing and the Rasa Wing. The better of the two is the Rasa Wing. The Rasa Wing has the advantages of : 1) the service is EXCELLENT. How many hotels have you been to where most of the staff refer to you by your name ? 2) less rooms, so less of a crowd 3) a separate swimming pool that is SUPERB (Children are not allowed :-)) 4) waiter service breakfast in the Ferringhi dinning room (albeit we preferred breakfast at the Garden Wing Spice Market.) 5) an included high tea (as much cake as you can eat) 6) a pre dinner cocktail (where you can eat and drink as much as you want) Breakfast at the Garden Wing Spice Market has more choices . Having breakfast in the garden under the Rain Tree planted in 1790'ish with squirrels hopping about , birds chirping and the background sound of the surf was just magic. Down sides - ° the beach is mucky and there are jelly fish (we did not swim, and a guest who did got stung). ° be prepared for slightly sick ride when visiting George town as the road is windy ° watch out for the Sumatra burning fields season as Malaysia gets smoke hazed (which happened during our last week there); i.e. pollution and poor visibility (ie no sun). Overall, we have a fantastic holiday. Thank you Agoda and Rasa Sayang ! "

"as golden sands resort was fully booked, they upgraded all the rooms which i booked to their sister hotel - rasa sayang seaview room. unfortunately the seaview room did not have much of a sea view at all and rasa sayang was a little less laid-back, with a more business like feel. i would certainly book golden sands again if i visit penang, it looks like an awesome vacation accomodation. the location is also closer to the action (night market, food places) in batu ferringhi than rasa sayang. "If Batu Ferringhi is your preferred location, don't go any further. The pictures on the internet do not do this property justice, you really have to see it to believe it. My bathroom had a bath and shower. The room had a lounge area as well as a balcony where you could sit outisde and enjoy the view of tbe beach or at high tide simply listen to the lapping water. Pool and cafe were modest but very practical and enjoyable. The staff were fantastic. No problem with check in. House keeping attended to any request efficiently. This is a property that you can just sit back and enjoy and take some well deserved "me" time. A quick 15min bus ride for MYR1.40 and you are at Gurnie Plaza and all the fine eateries and shoping on could want or you could go to the night markets in Batur Ferringhi"

"Our stay at Roomies Suite was just way too awesome! We really had great time staying at Roomies. the front staff member, did a superb role and was extremely friendly. He helped us in anyway he could (booking a taxi, offering us a ride to the near place, recommending places to go around Batu Ferringhi). As well as the holtel manager, she offered us the best memory that we could ever have in Penang! Apart from the staff, the room was very fantastic, neat and clean. Unfortunately, it was Ramadan period when we were there so it was super quiet around there and it was a bit hard to find something to eat. And if you want to go travelling in Georgetown, it will take you roughly one hour by bus from Batu Ferringhi to Georgetown. Anyway, we still love staying at Roomies Suites! Thank for all of the awesome memory. :)"

More about Batu Ferringhi

Batu Feringgi is second only to Georgetown in terms of Penang tourism. The district’s name translates as ‘Foreigner’s Rock’, and it’s home to one of the densest blocks of development in Penang. The district is popular for its white-sand beach fringed with al fresco restaurants and waterfront hotels.

While the district center is laden with tourist infrastructure, several nature-based attractions are in the area. Tropical Spice Garden and the Butterfly Farm are nice places to stroll for an hour, but the real hiking is in Penang National Park (Taman Rimba Teluk Bahang).

The emphasis in Batu Feringgi is on hospitality and tourism rather than historical sightseeing or cultural experience. Restaurants specialize in international fare or in Westernized versions of Malaysian cuisine. Anyone with a taste for authentic, local food can still find food hawker stalls in the area.

Accommodation in Batu Feringgi is competitively priced due to high hotel supply. Backpackers have a great selection, including a few ocean-facing bungalows. There are just as many resorts and spas on the beach with luxury offerings, so tourists on any budget find suitable rooms here.

The waterfront row turns into a popular pedestrian market every evening – famous throughout Southeast Asia for cheap replica goods, clothes and local handicrafts. Called ‘Pasar Malam’, the market also has a few pubs and clubs that stay open late. Otherwise, the best places to drink and dance are attached to major hotels.
