There was a bit of unconvienence about money issues with the guesthouse staff and the trekking guide, who charges too much (most guides in Bukit Lawang do). Place is terrificly beautifull at a river with jungle view in behind. But you have to drive half an hour on a motorbike taxi on a slippery path through the forest to get to the place, which is no choice for people with heartissues.

We arrived in Medan and Dewi met us at the airport. After arriving at Bukit Lawang, it is another 5 minute motorbike ride or a 30 minute walk to get to Batu Kapal. This gets you away from the tourist throngs of Bukit Lawang and places you on a village trail with locals passing by Batu Kapal, collecting durians, tapping rubber and delivering supplies. The accommodation at Batu Kapal was beautifully constructed and a perfect couples retreat for us. During the day we lounged around, visited the village, swam in the river and collected durians. Dewi was also very helpful in helping us organise jungle trekking and helping us to organise our transport from Bukit Lawang to Lake Toba. It is a great place to go if you like to be away from it all. However, the jungle track can be a bit perilous depending on how much rain there has been and how confident you are riding pylon on a motorbike. Luckily, the staff at Batu Kapal can transport your bags while you walk, if you feel safer on two feet. Highly recommended.
