Good value accommodation, fabulous views, quiet”

Location, floating restaurant, mountains wreathed in clouds, lakeside atmosphere, hot springs nearby

Batur Lakeside Huts are a hidden accommodation gem in the lakeside village of Kedisan. We stayed in 2 storey bungalows with fairly steep stairs leading up to our room. Get the ground floor bungalows if stairs are an issue. Fantastic views of the mountains around Lake Batur which were often wreathed in cloud. The lake changes the climate so that it is often quite cool and a light jacket or similar is often necessary in the evenings. The area is very quiet with very few tourists - compared to the frenetic bustle of Kuta/ Legian / Seminyak and Ubud. The protective surrounding caldera means that the lake is very calm most of the time and is a fabulous sight when it is covered in mist. There was very little if any motorised boat/ jet ski traffic when we were there in mid July 2012. We visited the hot spring pools in the nondescript town of Toya Bungkah for the second time in the last few years and really enjoyed swimming in the massive swimming pool and then jumping into the two hot spring pools. The entrance fee (150.000 IDR ~A$15) includes entry to the hot springs / swimming pool, the use of lockers / showering facilities, a towel and a drink. The entrance fee was 100,000 IDR a couple of years before and used to include a meal but not any more. Progress and increasing costs I guess. The trip across the old lava fields from Kedisan to Toya Bungkah is also quite an experience in itself. Not a lot of lava lying around in Australia. Food at the Lakeside Huts was great - dinner especially where we indulged in locally caught lake fish grilled to perfection and eaten out on the lake in the floating restaurant. Staff were friendly and accommodating but not intrusive at all. The place seemed very relaxed likely because everyone was getting ready for the arrival of a very important government Minister who was arriving to inspect the readiness of the Lake Batur Caldera for the expected granting by UNESCO of geopark status. Visit it is worth it.

Able to take great photo, if the weather is stable

if you are looking for batur lakeside hut, you are not able to find, if not mistaken, signboard should be lakeview hut and restaurant. our accommodation not inclusive of meals, since the place is isolated, we ate at the restaurant, it opens until 8pm, food and beverages pricing is acceptable, taste average. overall we are satisfied with our stay.

not bad”

nice room near the lake, quiet surrounding, beautiful view during sunrise.

Our first day arrival in Bali were staying this hotel, we booked hotel with additional note that we need airport transfer from ngurah rai airport to Batur Lakeside Hut.. we try to call this hotel for confirmation and email, but no response.. we were worried at first but its already last minute so we can't change the hotel.. during our arrival in Bali, we waited them like half an hour then we took driver. that is the cheapest we have got .. finally after we reached the hotel almost midnight luckily the staff are still around and we show our booking paper from agoda then they let us in our purpose of staying in kintamani first before other place in Bali becoz we want to watch sunrise the next morning and snap some beautiful sunrise and mountain pictures.. btw this hotel is one of the most strategic place to watch beautiful view of sunrise, the lake and the mountain.. before i leave this place i've got the contact of the manager if u guy interested to stay this place.. . And i did complain to him abt the miscomunication and he say sorry.. i told him to update this page so that easier for others to contact this hotel in future.

Lovely hotel at the lake”

Location at the Lake

This hotel is really at the doorstep of the Lake, with its restuarant facing the lake with nice views of the 2 mountains. As such, it is a long journey down from the the main town. We reached Kintamani at about 8.30pm (self-drive), and had a hard time finding the place. Lucky a group of local guys led us to it. By the way, it is known as Apung restuarant here. The restuarant was already closed when I reached, thus we had to skip dinner that night. The manager was quite helpful in providing information and arranging a last-minute hike the next morning. However, I believed he took a big commission from it. Nevertheless, as it was our only night in this area, I had to take it, if not, I might not have been able to arrange for the hike myself the next early morning. The bedsheets and not exactly clean clean (still ok), but I guess what to expect at this price at this sort of mountainous little town.

lake view, cool n windy, silent, relaxing

hotel hut is still ok, room is clean, tidy. the only problem is the shower water not too clean, but still acceptable. other than that, the room still satisfy. there are no breakfast included, for a usd (promo price) room without breakfast is a bit expensive. but u'll still love this place, bcoz the location really nice.

rude staff”

Location!

The huts are nice... With more than it's fair share of spiders! And the location was amazing. But as many people who stay there, we wanted to do the volcano climb. The manager of the hotel was rude, pushy, and was being absurd with his pricing of the trip. He wanted $75 each! When we kindly said we would look elsewhere he was rude and made up some rediculous comments about security not letting us out. We ended up paying about £20 each. Which was fine.

Best view ever”

Need to improve much from the cleanliness, lighting. The staffs are very responsif. But it's better to have receptionist to welcome the guests. Unfortunately some rooms are designed with stairs so it's uncomfort for older guests like my parents. But I really enjoyed the view and the weather there. It's very superb! The dinner it's not too bad. With the price that we paid maybe we can get better hotel but the view on this hotel is priceless.

Location beautiful, but somehow creepy”

Lake side, but not a great place to stay.

I had always wanted to stay at lake Batu for a few days, yet the moment our driver left, I had some reservations about spending 2 days here. The rooms are quite charming in a rustic baliness style, and the position is brilliant, right on lake Batu. However the fish breeding ponds immediately outside the rooms wafted an unpleasant smell throughout the hotel. The trip to the Bali aga village was an adventure of sorts, but the village is not an impressive Bali aga village in the vain of Tengganan in Bali East. The agreements made regarding transport etc were not honoured, and the locals seemed to take advantage of the our geographic isolation. I was very gratiful I had made arrangements for our Ubud driver to come back to pick us up, he arrived not a moment too soon. On the positive side the temple at the other end ot the lake is very special, and worth the trip to see it, but could have done without the weird energy of the place. I refer to the place as "Banjo Land" a deliverance reference.

Nice setting

It all seemed a little strange. There is no real reception for the hotel. The "manager" met me in the carpark and took me to my room. The room smellt mouldy and the whole ceiling of the bathroom was full of mould spots, so I asked to get another room. The second room was a bit better, but still not great. The food in the restaurant was ok, but the tablecloths badly needed a wash. There were only two or three other rooms taken, I had the impression that the hotel was not fully open for business. For the price I pain I expected more.
