Great place to enjoy some leisure days.”
Very spacious and green grounds right at the beach. Perfect, quite luxurious rooms or bungalows, most of them with lots of shade. Everything in working order. Very friendly and helpful people. Especially good choice when you want some leisure days i.e. after travelling in Birma. A few books on your e-reader, good music on the ipod, a Myanmar beer on the side: that's a real holiday. Unfortunately there were just very few people when we were there (not only in this resort by the way but anywhere in Ngwe Saung) but then again, maybe you just like it this way. Drinks and food are not cheap but of high quality but they have Fishermans Bar at the northern and of the resort for affordable meals. Access to Ngwe Saung from Yangon is far from easy. The busstation to the coast is more than an hour drive outside the city. Bus leaves at 6:30 a.m. and will arrive at Ngwe Saung at 0:30 p.m. No taxis there so you'll have to arrange transportation (for your loads of luggage) or grab a motortaxi (when you're travelling light). Bay of Bengal is about 1,5 km out of town and it's 2 km to or from the busstation.

Great place to relax at the end of your trip”
I spend four nights in a deluxe sea view room (upstairs from the Bengal Suites). The room was very spacious and nicely designed. The bathroom was also quite spacious; however the workmanship of the facilities there appeared somewhat inferior and I missed some ventilation. The public premises are generous and well designed. The beach is lovely, almost empty, quite clean (although hotel staff could check for broken bottles in the sand once in a while) and with a refreshing light breeze. Breakfast buffet is abundant and diverse. The hotel staff is altogether very friendly and attentive. However, for a hotel of this price category they should improve the attentiveness of housekeeping/facility maintenance staff. E.g. they didn’t notice that the doors of the wardrobe didn’t close properly or that the shower was leaking. One night the aircon didn’t cool anymore due to some gas leakage. They didn’t notice that the aircon wasn’t working properly even though they were in my room at that time trying to fix the malfunction of the aircon remote control (while I was out for dinner). Also, the water quality of the swimming pool did appear bad on some days. The floor around the pool is constructed of wooden planks, some of which are broken and nails stand out. This is dangerous when walking barefoot. While not comparable to beach resorts in other south east asien countries, for burmese standards Bay of Bengal is a nice, comfortable and calm place to relax at the end of a tour through Myanmar. Nevertheless, considering the price they demand, they need to improve the maintenance of their facilities.

Excellent”
Bay of Bengal is a nice resort - pretty ideal for our group of 3 families with young kids. The resort is at the far north end of the beach, which means its a bit far from restaurants and shops, but has fewer motorbikes using the beach as a highway. This made it a lot more pleasant and safe for our kids on the beach. Its also near a rocky peninsula, so there were tide pools to explore. The staff are great - the restaurant staff were cheerful, attentive, and patient with our invading mini-horde. The Fishermen's Bar is in a nice spot at the end of the resort, with a big lawn and nice sunset views. All in all, it was a great place to spend a long weekend away from Yangon.

Fabulous hotel right on the beach”
My stay at Bay of Bengal was very good. The beach front villas are great with huge terraces and bathrooms. Staff were very nice, but it was sometimes hard to communicate with them. But, when in Myanmar, you must be patient. We went in May, and there was no one. This was nice at first, but many of the facilities were already closed, beach bar closed, no facials, no pool service. This didn't bother us too much since we only stayed 5 days. Also, they turn the A/C off from 9am-12 and 4pm-6pm. Normally, I wouldn't care, but I got food poisoning one day, and spent the day in bed. It was very uncomfortable being sick and having no A/C.

Recharge and Relax”
First of all, location is the best if you want to stay away from crowd and just relax. It is like you're on private access beach. Only down side is no choice but to eat at hotel since far from village where restaurants are. Bright side is hotel restaurant offer variety of good dishes. Room, Royal Bengal Villa Ocean View, is very spacious and offer comfortable stay. My favorite places with villa are ocean view back porch and very large bathroom. Staffs are friendly. All and all our family had such a wonderful stay there.

Good hotel (for Burma), great beach (for anywhere)”
We really enjoyed Ngwe Suang-- it was a beach paradise like one might have found in SE Asia several decades ago, with a magnificent beach that still has bags of local character and some truly excellent local seafood dining to be done in the nearby village. The hotel itself: very good for Burma, and excellent for Ngwe Suang. There are a few issues of course: a bit of deferred maintenance, gardens are a bit brown and sparse, breakfast was a la carte one day due to low occupancy. But overall a wonderful place and the Bay of Bengal Villa is a true value at 170 USD a night for something as big as most apartments I've lived in, with unobstructed view of the sea.

Great Relaxing Holiday”
Wonderful stay. There are much cheaper places in this area but if you want luxury this is the one to go for. Naturally, Myanmar is still developing so there are a few kinks to iron out compared to more established or Western resorts. E.g. the times and list of services in the directory are mainly incorrect, the air conditioning shuts off at random intervals, shower needs to be preheated, the wifi is fairly reliable but not great and the hot breakfast is luke warm. Otherwise though, this is a fabulous resort. Staff are beautiful, eager to help, drinks are cheap, shower is HUGE, rooms are clean, comfortable, luxurious, right on the beach, brilliant pool. A fantastic resort I would recommend to families couples or friends.

A 4* hotel in 5star location”
Beach was lovely and the staff were great. We stayed for 5 days after travelling for 3 weeks it was the ideal place to relax. We like to ride bicycles but the hotel selection of bicycles can only be described as junk and they really need to get some that warrant the 1US$ an hour price. I seemed to spend some time on the beach picking up trash and it's a great pity the security staff don't take it apon them selves to do it instead of sitting about most of the day. We would however recommend this hotel as I'm sure things will improve

Still great place, yet they have to watch rising pollution, noise and (plastic) garbage burning”
We have visited BoB 5 times during the last 7 years. We still love the place, the staff and the unique atmosphere in the bright and airy buildings (great architecture!), which are well maintained over many years (which is naturally difficult on that place!). The rising problems seem to be more outside the hotel: From the beach you quite often suffer from loud music (ever so often repeating the same tunes) of 3 different sources at the same time at least. Motorbikes and quads (officially forbidden...) are loud and smelly. On several evenings you find yourself surrounded by evilly stinking smoke clouds of (plastic) garbage beeing burned off in the village. The hotel management is well aware of these (rising) problems, and we wish them all the best to make their point with the head of the village!

Staff is incredible!”
Great location, amazing food served at hotel restaurant. We only ever left the resort to go to dinner - otherwise all wants and needs were fufilled by the hotel. The beach is also quite nice - clean and un-trafficked. My only slight complaint were Chinese tourists who rented 4-wheel ATVs and ran them up and down the beach. As an expat who lives in Yangon, I would defintely stay at BOB again.

Old stylish hotel with a cool look from the 60s”
Well situated in the bay of Ngwesaung in a beautiful environment. But the hotel need a serous restorations, even only 7 years old. The personnel is nice but poorly instructed by the management, I guess. So the service is “come ci come ca” if they understand you…

Fabulous!”
The room was amazing, the hotel is very beautiful, the kids love to play in the various swimming pools. The beach is great! The villas are a thing apart! Extraordinary, like you are the only ones there. The only thing bad are the motorcycles at the beach all the time, it's a bit dangerous for the kids.

lovely resort”
A nice place to spend a few days lounging by the beach. Very nice room. Good food. The only thing I found a bit off-putting was being watched from the beach by a lifeguard while I was swimming in the sea. I think that goes a bit beyond the service that I expect from a hotel.

Lovely stuff”
Really nice resort. Comfortable bed and great breakfast. Little pricey and a bit of a hike from the village. Shower could have been better in the deluxe garden view room. Great pool.

Beautiful setting - a wonderful getaway from it”
This hotel in set in a very quiet part of myanmar, which after travelling was a joy. The staff are very variable but the most are friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms are lovely and the sunset at the bar each night is a joy. Just don't expect lots of nightlife and things to do - its the plce to unwind. The food and beverages are well priced and good quality.

Very good”
The room type (one king bed) we booked already sold out when we arrived so they upgrade us to Suite which is really spacious and comfortable, especially for us with two toddlers. The hotel restaurant is kind over priced consider the taste, however, the fisherman's bar is quite nice, we enjoyed 4 meals there during our stay. It only opens after 1pm, the staffs there doesn't really understand English, and they can't deliver to the room. I enjoyed our stay however, one last thing really ruined it when we checked out. The hotel claimed one small hand towel is missing and I have to pay for it. I feel terrible that I have to pay for something I didn't take (not even outside the room), and treated as thief who would steal one small towel. I argued and they said they checked there are 2 towels before we checked in. And my family is waiting in the car, so my husband said just paid them (which I really don't want to ) So remember to check all the number of items when you checked in!

Nice Location but have to improve Customer Service”
Nwessaung is very nice village, more and more resort are implanting and we are changing everytime we come. I guess we will change again next time... The hotel is nice, location perfect, a bit out from the village but you can walk or take motorbike. The beach is nice even if it would be better to clean it some time. Anyway, my major concern was from the staff, they are nice but need to improve their experience with foreigners. For example, when we put the signal "do not disturb" in front of our entrance door it means we don't want anybody to knock at our door at 7am, we want to relax !! Also some noise from the street if you take garden view room and sometime they make sono test which can be annoyion if you have the seaside view appartment...

Comfortable & enjoyable stay at the beach”
We enjoyed the excellent food for lunch and dinner. Breakfast buffet was a disappointment, as the food was not kept warm, but the eggs made to order were very good. The hotel bakery is very good, and the deserts, especially the cakes, are very nice. We tried kayaking and the spa, both were excellent. they also have wind surfing and pony riding on the beach. Be careful of the local, and foreigners speeding on motorbikes on the beach. The waves on the sea are super.
