Bay Village Tropical Retreat and Apartments offers great service by friendly staff. Overall, the room was clean, albeit we found the windows slightly dusty. We are very meticulous when it comes to linen used in hotels, and this property did not disappoint us. One of the best things about Bay Village is its location. We parked the car in a covered area in the property and strolled along the Esplanade. Shops, restaurants, pubs and even the night market are within walking distance! In this review, we would like to commend Jonathan (Housekeeping). He was the friendliest and most helpful person we met at Bay Village. We'd recommend this property to family and friends!
Good location, good room, but no stove or teapot.”
There were more plusses than minuses. The staff was courteous, friendly and efficient. The site was wifi-enabled (big tick) but the computer (web) facility was a little expensive (relative to the free web availability in the lobby of almost every place we have stayed at in our frequent travels). A suggestion for the pool area: I can understand the need for shade in such an area for most of the year but travellers such as us come to Cairns in the 'winter' to sun-bake' - it might be a good idea to consider re arranging the poolside furniture to occupy the sunny spots for longer. the furniture is way too heavy for (lightweight?) guests to do this casually. All things considered, we were very happy with the deal we got and enjoyed our stay in the warmth of the tropics while Sydney was wet and cold.
Fantastic staff and large comfortable unit”
Upgraded to larger unit free of charge. Really helpful staff who gave honest opinions about the tourist things (what are not worth the money). Very comfortable and affordable stay (we had infant with us who had plenty of crawling room). A friend who worked a few months in Cairns recommended the Balinese restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised when we found it attached to our hotel. The food at this restaurant is great (I am a foodie). I must admit we normally don't book if a unit is part of a large hotel but I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet our unit was (it was in a corner spot so I can't speak for the other units/room. The were only about 6-8 parking spots but they were secure parking that you were provided with a pin for. Cairns is so easy to get about without a car so most spots were not used and we were able to park close to our unit. There was a share swimming pool that seemed popular but we didn't have the need for that. We were provided with 5 hrs worth of free Internet use (not wi-fi) for our 1 night stay but we didn't need that either. We certainly mad egos use of a voucher for 2 free drinks for our meals at its restaurant. Overall a very good stay.
Great location, nice 20 minute walk into Cairns.l”
enjoyed 2 nights at bay village tropical retreat. on arrival was greeted by a very friendly staff member. all the staff in the restaurant were extremely efficient issuing us with friendly warm service. the room staff were courteous and mindful of our privacy. once again on check out the service desk was most helpful with ideas on tourist destinations.
Wonderful hotel with a great atmosphere”
Had a great stay at the Bay Village, the front counter staff were super helpful and rooms are set within a tropical garden. Great value for money, I'll be staying here again when I visit Cairns.
Very happy with the stay at Bay Village”
We are very happy to choose Bay Village during the holiday in Cairns. We had a studio room with kitchen. It's well equipped. The garden is beautiful and we spent a lot of time there. The staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Very nice and well positioned to centre of Cairns”
Very good. The Bay Village is well positioned, only 5 minutes to the Esplanade and about 15 to 20 minute walk to Cairns central. Very good value. The staff are excellent and the studio room was large and clean.
Excellent accommodation and a great location.”
We were surprised by the unexpected excellent quality of the accommmodation provided. The appartment was located in a separate block across the street from the hotel main building. Nevertheless, the apartment was very spatious and comfortable, featuring two bedrooms with independent bathrooms a large dining/sitting room and kitchen and a large balcony. There was also secure parking under cover. The location was very quiet and yet close to the busy spots of Cairns.
Definitely will stay in this hotel again!”
The studio room was open planned with a small kitchenette. The Balinese style deco was relaxing and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location was a mere 10 mins drive from Cairns airport and within walking distance to the main town center via the Esplanade where restaurants aplenty to choose from. Shopping malls and main street is a stone throw away. A great value for money as I have managed to book when there was a promotional offer in Agoda. An added advantage of the hotel's location is its easy access to the Captain Cook highway which offered an easy drive to Kuranda and the tableland as well as Palm Cove and Port Douglas.
Great hotel and location”
Had a great stay, hotel is in a great location, hotel pool was lovely and clean, housekeeping was to a good standard and reception staff were always very cheerful and helpful. The Thai restaurant in the hotel is definitely worth a visit, fantastic food and excellent service. I would highly recommend the Bay Village Retreat.
A great base in Cairns”
My family really enjoyed our stay, it was an excellent base from which to experience the activities in Cairns. Buses from the major activities pick you up at the door of the hotel and it is a pleasant 20 minute walk to the city along the scenic esplanade. The rooms were very clean and well maintained and the staff were all very helpful. I would definitely stay again.
Clean well set out rooms”
This motel was close to medical facilities which is what I wanted. The free pick-up from and to the airport in Cairns was very good and easy to access. The rooms were clean and comfortable although the mattress was a bit hard (personal taste only). My special requirements such as a ground floor room were met. The price was very very affordable and I would definitely recommend this motel to other people as well as stay here again myself.
Nice place, close to everything with firedly staff”
Good price, nice big room. Hotel is located 15 min walk from Cairns Fleet Terminal (for those who travel to the reef) and 10 min walk to Esplanade with lots of restaurants, shops etc. Nice, friendly staff (all very helpful), free airport shuttle. Loved the stay and will definitely come back!
the location of Bay Village Tropical Retreat & Apartments is not good, the restaurant around the hotel is fewer, but the price is cheaper, service is OK. big hotel room
This was our first stay in Cairns and The Bay Village. The hotel is located in North Cairns and a 15 minute walk from the town centre but ablockback from the Esplanade. We were disappointed with our stay at the Bay Village on several points. The one bedroom apartment we were given was clean and functional but very compact and the only window opens to a corridor so there is no natural light. Also there are warnings given about using the electric hotplate advising to leave doors and windows open while inuse to avoid triggering th alarm and incurring Fire Brigade charges. It would seem to me that if itcantbeused safely it shouldnt beinstalled.Other than that the attached restaurant is extremely expensive and Wifi is provided (5 hours).Overall the hotel is of a decent standard but I wouldnt recommend it for an extended stay.
The mood is tropical”
Central Cairns is pretty extensive. Hotel is really on the outer CBD. 5 blocks, a fair walk. however the hotel has a courtesy bus to airport & return and there is a public bus stop opposite the hotel. I feel that the hotel restaurant is very much over rated and expensive .The staff were very courteous, nothing too much trouble. Overall experience was very good, except for the restaurant.I would definately stay there again and would recommend it to my friends
Value for money”
Our stay was excellent! Arrived in cairns at 10.30am. reached hotel @ 11am and we were allowed to check in immediately! The rooms were bit smelly (may be bcoz of the heat or the chemicals used to clean the room! this is the one that needs to be looked into by the hotel!). The beds were comfortable! wish they were of queen size in all rooms! The hotel pool was excellent! kids enjoyed a lot!
Comfortable accommodation with a great restaurant”
This is the second time we have stayed at Bay Village and both times we have been very happy with the facilities and service. We have no hesitation in recommending the accommodation and particularly the restaurant which has great Balinese food. The tariff includes some internet access which is useful, however, the wifi connection in our room was slow and connection to the system clumsy. Overall a good place to stay for the price.
great location, clean rooms”
I got in an accident in cairns and needed a place to stay, this was closest to the hospital but was perfect, had a lovely little garden area to spend time in while I healed, but the room smells strongly of moth balls. Other than that, the furniture was really nice and the kitchenette was so helpful. Pool looked lovely but I wasn't able to go in. Staff were helpful and accommodating of my situation, breakfast was nice.
good service ”
free transfer from the airport to your accommodation large one bedroom apartment even though is not the king or queen size bed location is little far away from the city center and cairns port
