The Beachcomber Inn (Picton) blends contemporary architecture and a scenic location. As this hotel is located on the waterfront of Picton, the views from this hotel are stunning. It is a quick stroll to the main street which adds a great amount of convenience. A stay here is ideal for those who love boating and for those who enjoy scenic walks. Beachcomber Inn (Picton) has its own in-house restaurant and bar in addition to an in-ground swimming pool. During the winter months, the restaurant may be closed. The 35 units here have all be renovated and feature modern decor. Laundry service and tours are offered, and a garden and hot tub make for some excellent leisure opportunities.

Waterfront treat”
Beachcomber Inn is located on the waterfront at Picton with excellent views over the Sound and surrounding hills. Our room was large and comfortable with a fresh, clean and generous bathroom. Everything you could want for a stay of one night, one week or longer. Did not try the restaurant for dinner as it was booked out. Only negative from our view was breakfast only served in rooms. Also, lift not operating during our stay so some effort in getting bags to third floor. However, offer of carrying by staff was made if prepared to wait. Not a bargain tariff for our two nights but probably in keeping with others nearby.
Great hotel and location”
I would highly recommend this hotel. Thoughtful extras throughout the room. We only anticipated 1 night here in Picton but enjoy it so much we made it a 4 night visit, staying here at Beachcomber all 4 evenings. Booking on Agoda.com saved us $$ rather than booking directly through hotel
Wish we had planned to stay longer”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we had planned to stay longer. We didn't realise how picturesque and relaxing Picton was. Beachcomber staff friendly and helpful. Accommodation great, view fantastic.
Great stay”
Picton is a lovely place and the Beachcomber is in an ideal location close to everything, very clean, great service through friendly helpful service. Nothing was to much trouble. Really enjoyed our stay.
Short stay in Picton”
My husband and I were pleased we chose Beachcomber Inn. It was close to everything we needed, staff were friendly and our room was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again
Beautiful location”
We arrived in Picton late afternoon so as to ride the ferry to Wellington early the next morning. This hotel was very convenient to downtown eateries and ferry dock — all walking distance. Hotel was quiet. Only negative was lousy pillows.
Beachcomber Picton NZ”
Two things that are important to me are well lighted rooms and bathrooms that have enough space for me to put my toiletries and to hang wet towels after showering. There certainly was enough room for toiletries, but towel bars were lacking. This motel also used energy efficient flourescent bulbs in all its fixtures. While I applaud the effort I have poor eye sight and I appreciate the brighter incandescent bulbs. The hotel reception was very helpful in providing storage for our excess baggage when we went hiking for 4 days and stored our valuables in their safe. They also were helpful in getting us to the Ferry from Picton to Wellington. The rooms were large and the linens and soft furnishings were nice. Even though both nights we stayed we were in rooms at the front of the motel close to the road, we didn't hear any noise. The only disappointment was the restaurant which served the uninspired kind of home cooked food that a working mum in a hurry might serve.
Great location to start the Queen Charlotte Track”
We've stayed at the Beachcomber before and were happy to see that it remains comfortable and with helpful staff. The location is perfect for spending the night before walking the Queen Charlotte Track, and is easy walking to area restaurants.
Stunning View”
A beautiful location, very relaxing to sit on the deck and watch the activity down on the water front. Nice comfortable clean room, only let down were the 2 staff members we spoke to when checking in and checking out. The lady on reception was quite negative when we checked in and asked questions about where to eat, as we wanted to find somewhere that served mussels. She told us good luck as they have been very hard to source.... She came across quite negative and not very helpful. When we told her we were catching the train to Christchurch, she questioned if the train was up and running, as they had been busing people to Christchurch, and the train had been shut down..... Turns out the first restaurant we went to had mussels and the Train was running on time with no problems. Loved our visit to Picton, wished we could have stopped longer than the one night.
Great stay”
It was so relaxing and peaceful. It was a shame the restraunt closed the night we stayed because I was looking forward to trying the lovely food they have to offer. Other than that it was a splendid place to spend our time in Picton. Well worth it.
Exceptional”
Enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful scene from balcony and so centrally located to shops and restaurants . Would definitely go back there next time we stay in Picton
Central hotel ”
The Beachcomber In Hotel is close to the centre of Picton and to ferries and all boat excursions etc. The hotel is clean but rather impersonal. The restaurant was good...breakfast staff were excellent but the hotel bar seemed to close as soon as they felt they could
Perfect spot!”
Very enjoyable....staff were always very helpful. Accommodation looked over the Harbour......beautiful views. Comfortable room, very clean. The only drawbacks were ....an unheated pool with no change room and limited food availability at the Inn....this latter was not a big issue because of excellent food places being available in reasonable walking distance.
Exceptional”
Beachcomber was a bit old and tired not worth the price, but ok for one night.
Pleasant surprise in Picton!!”
I’d read positive reviews and I have to agree- helpful staff, very tidy room & bathroom and quite roomy and up to date. We had the studio room with a bit of a view and it was really good. The place was full but you wouldn’t know it - nice and quiet. Unfortunately the restaurant has been moved offsite ( maybe for winter?) but no biggy as we easily walked into town for dinner. Totally recommend
Lovely & Perfect Stayed ”
Our family x4 very enjoyed, stayed here. . The house owner very lovely n friendly . The very nice n natural ... here got cow n sheep farm . My room n kitchen very perfect . I will come again 👍
Restaurant and view”
Superb restaurant on the top floor, particularly on Christmas Eve. Excellent service. Spacious bedroom and balcony. Old-style spa bath tub. Good location in terms of balance between distance to shops and say a walk along the wharf. Not terribly far from the pier when compared to other accommodation.
Great location with nice view”
The hotel room is looking into the harbour so the view is very nice. It is a good place just to stay over for 1 night after crossing from the north island as picton is a small town and not much activities to do.
A little pricey but awesome location.”
A little bit expensive but the hotel as awesome and all facilities were working properly. Outstanding location, near to the beach, markets and ferry boat arrival point. At first I asked for a room with ocean view at the second floor. However, since the hotel was fully booked I was arranged into a room at first floor not into the "corner" of the grass field into the backyard of the hotel. Finally, I loved the room and since it was a little protected from the sun, the room temperature was great.
Great location, great service & great view!”
we were a late check-in but that was easy to arrangewith no hassle at all. service was excellent and the room was warm and comfortable. no complaints.
