Beachfront hotels & places to stay

My wife and I traveled from Yangon to Ngwe Saung Beach for a four day personal retreat. We live in and travel extensively in Asia and spend many more days in a hotel than at home. Since we travel so often we generally choose mid-range properties but sometimes stay in 5 star or even 2 star hotels. We read the Reviews of hotels to get a sense about the place we are going to stay. Eskala had good reviews, but honestly, this property was one of the best I have stayed at in years. The staff was well trained and it is evident that the management was investing in staff training and more importantly in maintenance and upkeep of the facility. We walked the beach every day and this one had the best maintained beach of all of the beachfront properties in this stretch of beach. We had a small problem with the A/C one evening but the staff immediately worked to resolve the issue. Our respect to Ya Min who had the title of Bellboy but demonstrated excellent management skills in assisting in this. Our stay was in September, Rainy Season, and we expected the food service to be decreased but we found the Food to be excellent. More 5 star than 4 star. Htun Htun Oo and staff did an exemplary Job even though the hotel was not full. Food presentation and timing was first class and the portions were generous. We were also impressed with the Front desk manager Nao Nao Hnin Wai who checked us in and out and assisted us as we were interested in local attractions. The Pool was exceptionally large for a 60 unit property and very well maintained. Overall, the stay exceeded our expectations. Would recommend this property to anyone traveling to this beach.

This was a great stay. We stayed with our two young children and the staff treated them very well. All that said, some of the amenities (especially breakfast) was disappointing. Coffee was very bad and food selection for breakfast is not representative of a four star establishment. There seems to be a trend in Myanmar that, as long as you're 'good enough' of an establishment, you somehow get 4-5 stars, when anywhere else in the world it would be 3-4 stars. But, hey, if you go to Ngwe Saung, and you have the $ to spend, this is the best place to stay. I've tried to be honest, clear, and accurate in this review. Like I said, a good place to go...we'll probably be back. Is it the best or worthy of the 5* rating? No.

We have visited BoB 5 times during the last 7 years. We still love the place, the staff and the unique atmosphere in the bright and airy buildings (great architecture!), which are well maintained over many years (which is naturally difficult on that place!). The rising problems seem to be more outside the hotel: From the beach you quite often suffer from loud music (ever so often repeating the same tunes) of 3 different sources at the same time at least. Motorbikes and quads (officially forbidden...) are loud and smelly. On several evenings you find yourself surrounded by evilly stinking smoke clouds of (plastic) garbage beeing burned off in the village. The hotel management is well aware of these (rising) problems, and we wish them all the best to make their point with the head of the village!

We had a beachfront bungalow which was absolutely perfect. The beach wonderful and practically deserted. The room was spacious even with 2 extra beds for the kids. The food in the restaurant was very good, too. The breakfasts were ok - a limited choice but everything fresh and tasty. The dinners (we ate there twice) were a real feast - plenty of food, best quality and top class service. The staff in the hotel was just outstanding: the rooms cleaned twice a day, housekeeping coming in the evening to spray the rooms with anti-mosquito and bring some evening treat (a fruit or a cake), restaurant staff very well trained and professional, everybody extremely helpful and always smiling. Thank you very much - we had a truly wonderful stay!

We stayed 3 nights at the end of january in the beach view loft room. Great option for budget travelers. Room was spacious with air conditioning, hot water, fridge and king sized bed. Excellent facilities including a beautiful pool and lots of nice lounge chairs. The beach was clean, quiet and even had a life guard. The staff and service were great, received the same treatment as Yacht Club guests as they are through the same hotel. The best part was the huge tasty buffet breakfast. Highly recommend. They also have a restaurant called North Point a little on the far side of the resort, it seemed to not be well advertised but was delicious and much more affordable than their main restaurant. They will even drive you there in a golf cart.

Недостатки: электричество с 18-00 до 6-00 и час в обеденное время, ужасный wi-fi (сразу покупайте sim за 5000 кьят и забывайте отельный wi-fi как страшный сон), пляж недостаточно убирают (наверное думают что океан смоет все, в то что не смоет в песок само закопается), в номере нет сейфа. In hotel everything was good. The best beach equipped with plank beds and canopies in the settlement, fine numbers, comfortable beds, boiled water, personnel just on 10 stars, tasty breakfasts, the well-groomed clean territory of hotel, in the evening beautiful illumination, a palm tree circle. Beautiful Hotel on the beach. We had an executive room with sea view, which was very large and also very clean. The pool is great, big enough to swim a few kilometers. The beach is very clean and completely empty. The area around is pretty quiet as the hotel is not directly in the village but a little bit up north. The breakfast is delicious. When there are enough guests, they will provide a buffet with western and asian breakfast. Staff is very nice and helpful but communication is not easy as they do not really speak english. But you can always communicate somehow. There are a lot of mosquitos, I would recommend to bring a mosquito net with you as it is not provided by the hotel. We stayed for 1 week and it was all in all a great, very relaxing vacation, which I would definitely recommend to anyone!

We stayed 4 nights in the garden view rooms (beachview and beach cottages were fully booked). The latter are definitely better. The location is great: within palm trees directly by the beach; quiet because away from the village with nice beachfront. Nevertheless is the village and other resorts with restaurants within walking distance. The dining room and open terrace for breakfast/dining is very nice. The food for breakfast is ok, the seafood from the restaurant in the evening was quite good. Service and cleanliness could be improved! The staff is neither very attentive nor helpful. This resort is not upscale, so dont expect anything fancy.

Grest beach.Love their infinity pool..Good breakfast.Very good staff they have yet to learn more English.So good view from the balcony.The only thing that same as in most if Myanmar if theylike to get foregners need insect screen on windows.I asked for non sprayed room in Europe we are afraid of malaria and too many chemicals.Overall relaxing brach experience ocean water is so clean.Room is big and opens to both sides its siry.
