close to the metro station”
Aroud 5min. walk from metro station. can eat local food near the accomodation by low cost. A sleeping place is very small, and ceiling is very low, but it's enough if you hope the indivisual and cheep sleeping.
Expensive for a Hostel ”
The location is great and fairly easy to get to from line 2 & 8 'G' exit. Walk South from the subway on the right hand side (cross the road) and its past the Mc D's and next to a public toilet, down some stairs. This place is a Hostel. Expect young people and the young at heart. Some rooms have multiple bunks so expect youthful late night noise and door banging. No lift, so if you don't fancy carrying your luggage up 4 flights of stairs, book somewhere else. Otherwise the room (we had a twin room and ours wasn't the best) was good. Beds not too hard, pillows a bit soft but OK, and the bathroom /shower good. Breakfast was good for China, certainly as good as you'll get for that room price. But doesn't come with tea or coffee - you'll have to pay for that luxury. The dining room doubles as a pub/restaurant with a cozy atmosphere that will appeal to the young at heart. But mainly it's the location you're paying for. Line 2 gives good access to the airport (Airport Express to Dongzhimen), Beijing Railway Station, which also has a Shuttle Bus terminal to the airport, Tian'anmen, and of course the rest of the subway network. The hostel itself is located in the historical Beijing, and the area has a preservation order on it. So although the area looks run down and rough, it still has the old Chinese feel about it, and is quite authentic and still lived-in. It's for the tourist, and the historian. OK for a short stay.
TV Make Noise =(”
TV set didn’t clear to see. Make a lot of Noise.
Value for money, nice location, Helpful staff”
The hostel is very near to the subway. Beside this, there is a lot of foods store and convenient store nearby. The room is clean and I meet a lot of friends from other countries. However, the sound proof is very bad... you can hear other people snoring from your room. Overall, It is very worth of money and I would like to stay here for my next trip
I was in town for a week to attend a teaching course. I booked this hostel for 5 nights. Couldn't beat the price even though I was in a capsule it provided what I needed. Internet had no problems and there was a nice small lounge area with a restaurant that had plenty of food and drink options. All were quite reasonably priced. The staff was good and enough English to get by with. I'm a fast walker and could get to the subway in about 5 mins walking. Very convenient location to plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, hutongs and some nice sights. McDonald's right next door for those who may want it. I was very pleased.
Great location, English speaking, CLEAN”
We had a great stay at the Drum Tower Youth Hostel in September 2017. We stayed in a standard double room, which was enough space for two. Our room was cleaned every day. The location is right on Line 2 of the subway which was VERY convenient. The staff were polite and spoke English well. Overall, we were very satisfied and would suggest staying here!
pretty good for this lrice”
we booked a double room, and there's enough space for two people to stay in. there's no toothbrush or toothpaste in the bathroom though. the only thing is that we can easily hear people from next door
Omg this place is awesome! Instead of dorms they have capsule rooms that are stacked 2 high. You won't be able to stand up straight in them but there's an actual bed, nightstand, small table, and plenty of room for your backpack. It doesn't feel cramped at all. I'm LIVING for this place! There are even capsules with bathrooms in them but I shared the bathroom which was totally fine. It was always kept clean. The restaurant is fine but the coffee machine might be broken. Haven't been able to get a decent cup the whole time I was there. They offer the usual tours (Great wall, opera, etc) as well. I don't think the staff speaks much English though. There was one guy who I was able to communicate with easily. The girls there seem to have very limited English. It was a fabulous place and I can't recommend it high enough. Also, amazing location! Right by all the great hutongs, delicious restaurants, and real neighborhood life. You feel like a local here!
Freezing hostel ”
I arrived at the hostel late at night, mid January, in the coldest week in the year. I was astonished to discover the rooms have no heating system. The hotel lobby is heated, while the rooms - nothing. When I arrived, the bed and sheets were already ice cold. I literally spent the night shivering, even though I was wearing my coat, gloves and scarf. The only possible thing to ease the pain was to take hot showers, which were indeed hot most of the time. And one last thing, if you are over 1.70m, beware that you will not be able to stand straight in the room. Make sure you turn the light before you enter, otherwise bumps in the head are expected, which are even more painful when living inside a freezer.
A choice for budget travelers”
What I like about this place is that it is 3 minutes walk from Guloudajie station and there are buses that can take you to attractions like the Bird Nest, Watercube, Tiananmen etc.. However, because this place is relatively cheap, you cannot expect too much. For my room, there is a bed and a toilet, and that's about it. You don't have air-con in your room and the air-con basically flows from the lobby and common area into your room. It can get really stuffy at times. Then, the soundproof between rooms is pretty weak and you can hear people talking.
Capsule hotel ”
I stayed in a 'Capsule B' which means a tiny room, only 3ft high. If you're only in Beijing for a few days and you've got your eye on price this is a good place to stay. It's fairly central, near hutongs and a subway station.
Nice place for a solo traveller”
The location of the hostel is great. I stayed in a capsule room, it's neat and clean, but a bit too small so i need to bend down in my room - but it's ok for me as i'm still young. For a solo backpacker it's a good choice.
Great location , friendly staff ”
After finding this hostel through agoda I was very impressed with the accommodations especially given the great price . The hostel is in a great location near restaurants , sightseeing , and a metro station . The capsules offer a great and more private alternative to a dormitory bed for the budget traveler . The capsules , restaurant , and bathroom facilities appeared to be recently renovated and were all clean and well maintained . The staff was always very friendly and created a very welcoming environment. They were always more than accommodating when it came to anything from providing directions to helping arrange a tour . Overall one of the better hostels I've stayed at in my travels .
great location. clean. friendly.”
Enjoyed my 3 nights there. Had superior single room with private bathroom. Very low ceiling so if you're tall (180cm) you will bump your head. Didn't like that there was a cat in the lobby and I'm very allergic to cats. Other than that would recommend the hostel
Quiet, affordable, a lot to do”
Great place for 4 days. Surprisingly quiet, and like the other reviewers said, the bathrooms are incredibly clean! Very easy walk to Drum and Bell Towers, and Hou Hai lakes. Raj Indian restaurant nearby is amazing and authentic. Must ask for towels, no elevator, wifi sometimes works.
friendliness of the staff made it a great value”
I appreciate the helpfulness and eagerness of the staff to help in any way they could. I arrived one in the morning, and the girl at the desk was cheerful and friendly, even though it was slow and late. WiFi was good in some spots but not all. I would stay here again.
Great location and very convenient to all restaurants and close by the metro station. Rooms were good with good beds and clean, not crowded at all. Convenient with safety-box for personal belongings. Toilet and shower are OK. Getting around easy, taxis are cheap and great food and enjoyed very much my time in Beijing.
Friendly hotel and great location”
a lovely hostel with great location that a subway station is just a walking distance. 5 minutes walk to bell tower and drum tower. 15 minutes walk to the most popular pub streets in beijing named as houhai (shishahai). next door of the hotel is a cafe/pub where serves delicious pizza and there is a mc donald just around the corner if you're tire of chinese food during stay. the heater probably is not warm enough and the wifi only available at the common area/lobby. the best part of the hotel would be the staffs of front desk, they are all very good english speaker and willing to offer you assistance when u need help. if you enjoy your stay here if you are pet lover cos there are 2 dogs and cat that running around freely at the lobby but there cute.
My 1st night was sleepless because of the mosquitoes. But the staff at the counter apologized and provided a mosquito repellent when I complained on the 2nd day.
Great location and wonderful staff”
I arrived rather late but late check in is allowed. The staff speaks english and very accomodating. Location wise, it's near the subway and there is a bus that goes directly to the Forbidde City.
