All Hotels Should be Like This”
Stepping onto the bridge over the koi pond, the entrance from the dusty Siem Reap street into La Residence, we were immediately transported to a cool, tranquil sanctuary. The welcoming hotel staff addressed us by name, very politely, when we entered the small, but airy dark wood foyer adorned with a magnificent stone bas relief piece behind the counter. Registration was seamless and we were seated in lounges for the brief process. We traveled with our 6 month old baby and my mother, who had her own room. We could not fault the hotel: the service, food, location, staff and appearance of rooms, garden, restaurant etc was absolutely first class. Breakfast, a full buffet, included in the rate and delicious, was just what you need before a day at the temples. Being able to return to La Residence during the day for a rest was perfect and meant we could dip in the pool while our baby slept in the room (baby monitor worked by the poolside - fantastic). We ate in the dining room on our first night at the hotel and ordered Khmer dishes including local fish and prawn curries, and enjoyed a bottle of a very good Australian shiraz. While La Residence is slightly pricier than some of the other hotels in town, it was very good value and made our weekend extremely comfortable. Put this hotel on your list for your Cambodian holiday.
La Residence d'Angkor ”
Perfectly located along the river in Siem Reap, La Residence d'Angkor is very nicely decorated in a Khmer-style using wooden materials. Unlike many hotels in Sieam Reap, there are a limited number of rooms giving a sense of privacy. Impeccable service, good quality price restaurants and kindness from the staff. The best hotel in Sieam Reap along with the Grand Hotel.
Great location, ambience, and service!”
We loved our 3-night stay at the Belmond La Residence d'Angkor! The location is great, the ambience is fantastic, and the staff were wonderful! It is walking distance from the restaurants and the markets. The rooms, the bathroom, the pool, and garden are beautiful. We especially enjoyed our time in the pool and being served complimentary home-made ice cream or drinks. Every time we came back from the archaeological site, we were greeted with fresh, cold, lemongrass scented towels; every time we were greeted with the prayer hand gesture and friendly smiles; the hotel's early morning complimentary coffee and croissants helped us during our 3-hour morning visits to the sites (one needs to do this to avoid the heat). However, I would not eat meals at the hotel as they are pricy and not as good as the food at restaurants like Chanrey Tree. Mali's across the river has affordable breakfasts--both Western and local--for just $7 (and 3:50 for kids). Belmond needs to rethink their prices and menus for their breakfast buffets and the dinner buffets. I have certainly had much better buffets for more affordable prices at hotels in other parts of Asia.
5 Stars until check out.”
I was doing some shopping in Siem Reap. When we checked in I noticed there was no shopping bag provided in our room. I've grown accustomed to finding one in most 5 Star hotels. It was no big deal but I did notice. We stayed for 4 nights and on the 4th day a shopping bag appears in our room. I thought it was a shame it hadn't been there from the beginning. I used the bag that evening at the market for some purchases and put it in my suitcase since we we're leaving in the morning. Upon check out, I was asked if I took the shopping bag. I said yes and was told it was $25.00 US. There was no price anywhere in the room listed for their plastic shopping bag. My suitcases were in the lobby but I opened them up and unpacked until I found their shopping bag which I returned to them. What a shame to end what was a perfect experience on such a negative note. I felt this was really beneath the Belmond brand.
Fabulous in every way”
la residence is everything you could wish for in siem reap - the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and attentive to detail, and the hotel is conveniently situated near the town centre, just a short tuk-tuk ride away from the main attractions in town. the hotel has lovely gardens and a beautiful pool for relaxing and after-dinner coffee - in the evening, lanterns are lit to create a lovely atmosphere around the pool. the hotel puts on dance displays in the restaurant in the evenings, and also supports several community development and charity initiatives. i was particularly impressed by their initiatives to get guests involved in helping local orphans. the room was immaculate, very well maintained and extremely comfortable and inviting. i shall definitely return.
Beautiful and comfortable ++ ”
The Belmond was the perfect home base for our brief stay in Siem Reap. The hotel is beautiful, the staff goes above and beyond, and the pool was amazing. We really enjoyed our conversation with Chef Dominick and Oudoum especially. We loved the special touches during turn down, and would recommend the Belmond to anyone traveling to Siem Reap.
The most beautiful hotel in Siem Reap”
La Residence d'Angkor is another stunning gem in Siem Reap. Bedrooms are spacious, stylish and comfortable. Amenities are fantastic, with a special mention to the swimming pool. Staff were extremely nice and helpful, and gave some insight tips to visit the city. We guard very special memories from La Residence.
Great hotel!”
Great small boutique hotel in great location in the centre of Siem Reap. First time at a Belmond and very impressed - service and food excellent. Stayed in a Suite, perfect size and loved the small touches; bath salts, small gift at turn-down. Spa ok but could do with a refresh, rooms wise, but again staff excellent.
A Living Temple after a Day at Angkor”
We arrived in the heat of the day when most hotels are not esthetically at their best, but La Residence was an Oasis. Over a koi and lotus pond bridge to a lobby with tastefully light statues copied from Angkor, a speedy and gracious check in and almost immediately you are in the pool of dark blue and green glass tiles... large and long and surrounded by a jungle of plants. The beds, the linens, the bath, better than any I have had. You don't want to leave but when the city and the temples call, the staff helps you find everything you need with no push for special deals or connections. We met a tuc-tuc driver in the market who happened to be the lead driver for the hotel. Mr. Thorn took us everywhere for whatever we wanted to pay him. He was bright, knew the city and the temples well and helped us feel like we got to know a bit of Cambodia. I can't say enough good things about La Residence d'Angkor. I would return over and over if I could
Great Brand”
Belmond is a great brand world while. This hotel in Siem Reap has an excellent design interpretation of a colonial building with a beautiful contemporary twist! One of the restaurant was closed for renovation when we visited it, but main restaurant and bar were pretty and nice Roon was truly comfortable and they offer us not only complementary fruits but also a bottle of wine. And the staff service was the standard required for a 5 stars hotel but nothing memorable, except for a lovely waiter at dinner.
Dear John, thank you so much for reviewing your stay with us in Siem Reap. It is such a pleasure to read about your experience during your visit to Cambodia. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the room, its amenities and the facilities of the hotel. Thank you for informing us that the waiter in the restaurant during your dinner made your stay memorable. Yours Sincerely, Michaela Brase Director of Rooms Belmond La Residence d'Angkor
La Residence d'Angkor”
The hotel is physically very attractive and is nicely furnished. The staff are friendly and helpful and the services provided very good. The location is convenient to shopping and dining in Siem Reap. The food in the restaurant is excellent and provides a good mix of Asian and Western dishes. It could well be the best option in Siem Reap.
Pleasant stay at the Belmond ”
We had a pleasant stay at the Belmond Siem Reap. The staff were helpful and courteous and the place was clean. Some construction going on next door but did not disrupt the quiet when we were in the room. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
A spritual encounter”
We flew in from Bangkok Thailand and find the controlled ticket prices (Bangkok Air) stiff. (limited flight operators). Trips by private car and/or bus are just a fraction, but takes a long time. Airport is new and efficient, airport tax of USD 25 p.p. on departure is somewhat high. Local visa procedure's went very efficient upon arrival in Siem Riep. Distance to hotel is about 15 minutes only and by taxi. In the village most transportation is by "tuk tuk". The Hotel straight away brought us in the spiritual mood of visiting as many tempels as possible within our too limited schedule. Fee's are for one or more days, but the good thing is that the park authority allows 1 day ticket holders in the park the previous evening to watch the sunset from one of the famous hills and which is a must. Tickets are personal and the ticket office takes the individual pictures which are placed on the ticket and takes no longer than 5 minutes. As most of the Unesco Heritage Wonders of the World, it takes a while before you absorb all the magnificent beauty and architecture of the many tempels in and around Siem Riep and all are worth visiting, but it will take you about a week to do so. Great atmospehere from the tempels combined with the locals, who try to sell you much related items, but a bit of negotiating is highly recommended and it provides some fun to, while those little "buggers" can surprise you with their humor and knowledge of your own homeground. If limited on time, any guide or tuk tuk (advice to rent by the day) driver can advice you on which main tempels to visit. Evening life is very much concentrated on bars and restaurants. Seafood was hardly available, but compensated by snake- and crocodile meat dishes and we tried it without any consequences. There are many souvenir- and gem shops and we think we had a good bargain on some yellow saphire jewelry. In short a very memorable stay and a must for everyone, regardless age and who can appreciate the history and archit
Elegance and ambiance”
The hotel is an oasis in Siem Reap. The service harkens back to an earlier more civilized time. The rooms are spacious and extremely well appointed. The food in the restaurant was superb. Prices are more than reasonable, given the quality. I recommend the hotel without reservation. It was a magnificent experience.
A hotel to remember”
Location: 5/5. Near the center of Siem Ream in a quieter neighborhood in front of the river. Facilities: 5/5. Newish three story building around a long swimming pool. Dark woods and tasteful local decoration in the rooms and common areas. Service: 5/5. Eager employees with attention to detail. Small local souvenirs at turndown make for a delightful experience. Food: 5/5. Multicultural breakfast with a variety of food stations (sweets, savory, omelettes, Western, Eastern) and omelettes, crepes, and noodles made to order. We did not dined. Overall: 5/5. A visit we will remember. We had stayed at the Belmond in Cusco and the experience was similar.
Very good hotel”
My husband and I enjoyed the stay in this hotel. First we like very much the decoration in the hotel especially inside the room. I even bought the two wood souvenir in the room. Moreover, their service is super good, clean up the room timely and even put different flowers inside the room. Next time when we stay in Siem Reap, will choose this hotel for sure!
Kmer-style boutique hotel”
A small yet elegantly designed boutique hotel nestled on the river bank of Siem Reap downtown.Spacious room decorated in pure kmer style with balcony facing a lush tropical garden or river.Conveniet location with 5-10 minutes stroll away from pub street. If you would like to enjoy a bit of peacefullness and exclusiveness and steer away from group tour tourists, La residence is the right place you can go for.
Siem Reao Haven”
Great boutique hotel in Siem Reap. Rooms are large and luxuriously furnished. Lovely pool sufficient for doing laps. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Was able to have a slightly later check out at 3pm. Will stay here again.
Wonderful stay in a beautiful facility”
I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. By Cambodian standards it is extremely expensive and I must admit to a pang of guilt walking into this luxurious property after seeing some of the poverty that exists 10km away. Nonetheless, you get what you pay for and then some at this property. I was trying to decide between this hotel and Hotel de la Paix and after seeing the Hotel de la Paix (we went there for dinner one night), I'm so glad we made the decision that we did. In its setting, Hotel de la Paix seems almost brash. Set along the river, the Residence blends in as a private oasis. The rooms are tastefully decorated. My two complaints are minor and would certainly not keep me from staying there again. 1. This is an open plan room and as such privacy between bathroom and bedroom are minimal. There are sliding doors that can be drawn to seperate the two, but they don't exactly offer privacy (they're see through) 2. The spa. It's new and absolutely stunning, however, the treatments were okay at best. I just went in for a manicure and pedicure and a) they were expensive and b) they simply weren't that good. With these two minor things out of the way, it leaves room to rave about the staff, the facilities and everything else about this hotel. After long days of temple exploring, visiting floating villages and just wandering around the city, this truly is an oasis to return to. Highly recommended.
5 days 4 nites at Le Residence”
Me and my friend stayed 4 nites in Le Residence D'Angkor. I love this hotel even before we checked in. It was my friend's birthday and the resort prepared a complementary birthday cake that nite. The staff are super friendly and very helpful all the time. Very attentive to our needs. The whole resort including the room is very exotic and very close to nature. The room deco is modern yet with the wood and the greenery garden, is more than just relaxing and comfortable. Very good value compare to what we paid for.
