Great small boutique hotel in great location in the centre of Siem Reap. First time at a Belmond and very impressed - service and food excellent. Stayed in a Suite, perfect size and loved the small touches; bath salts, small gift at turn-down. Spa ok but could do with a refresh, rooms wise, but again staff excellent.
5 Stars until check out.”
I was doing some shopping in Siem Reap. When we checked in I noticed there was no shopping bag provided in our room. I've grown accustomed to finding one in most 5 Star hotels. It was no big deal but I did notice. We stayed for 4 nights and on the 4th day a shopping bag appears in our room. I thought it was a shame it hadn't been there from the beginning. I used the bag that evening at the market for some purchases and put it in my suitcase since we we're leaving in the morning. Upon check out, I was asked if I took the shopping bag. I said yes and was told it was $25.00 US. There was no price anywhere in the room listed for their plastic shopping bag. My suitcases were in the lobby but I opened them up and unpacked until I found their shopping bag which I returned to them. What a shame to end what was a perfect experience on such a negative note. I felt this was really beneath the Belmond brand.
Beautiful and comfortable ++ ”
The Belmond was the perfect home base for our brief stay in Siem Reap. The hotel is beautiful, the staff goes above and beyond, and the pool was amazing. We really enjoyed our conversation with Chef Dominick and Oudoum especially. We loved the special touches during turn down, and would recommend the Belmond to anyone traveling to Siem Reap.
Great Hotel in Angkor”
Overall it's a great hotel, probably one of the best in Angkor. The service is definately one of the best! People work in the hotel are nice, helpful and professional. My father dropped a dozen of hundred dollar bills at the restaurant one morning. And when we get back in the hotel, the manager turned back the money.
Worth every cent !”
Very pleased with my stay at this carefully curated 5 star hotel. First the staff was exceptional. Everyone not only knows your name, they anticipate your needs and they memorize your room number. At one night i arrived back at about 1130 pm and was surprised to know that their kitchen was still open- they were waiting for a few guests to come in and i thought that that's really thoughtful. Even more so when i asked if i could still order they did not hesistate and said i could order and would keep the kitchen open because the other guests arriving might be hungry. Apart from the great service id say the whole place is an experience in itself. It kept to the local cambodian theme without sacrificing quality. I would dare say that the food was exceptionally good as well. Having tried cuisine wat damnak, sugar palm, and other known khmer restos, hotel food is, if not better, at par with fine cambodian cuisine. I guess more than anything that makes a place, apart from its aesthetic qualities, memorable, is its people. My flight was not until 1030pm and they told me that i could check out at 6pm. There were guests continuously coming in and they asked if they could move me to a room that probably was not going to be used until the nxt day. I realized that what's important to one's experience is situations like this that doesnt end when you check out at the hotel. It lasts until the very last moment which is truly deserving of 5 stars. Continue the good job guys. Cheers to the managers of this belmond outfit.
Fabulous in every way”
la residence is everything you could wish for in siem reap - the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and attentive to detail, and the hotel is conveniently situated near the town centre, just a short tuk-tuk ride away from the main attractions in town. the hotel has lovely gardens and a beautiful pool for relaxing and after-dinner coffee - in the evening, lanterns are lit to create a lovely atmosphere around the pool. the hotel puts on dance displays in the restaurant in the evenings, and also supports several community development and charity initiatives. i was particularly impressed by their initiatives to get guests involved in helping local orphans. the room was immaculate, very well maintained and extremely comfortable and inviting. i shall definitely return.
Outstanding hotel and staff. Staff were dedicated to ensuring our stay was first class and they did not fail. Hotel facilities was subperb as was the room. Samll hotel with 6 star service. Food was far better than expected and very well presented. Food was a good match for any good fine dining restaurant.
i strongly recommend to read their culture and history before travel... as i was travelling alone w/o knowledge ... No fun... remember Not to engage a tuk-tuk driver w/o schedule, my tuk-tuk driver (booked from website/email)changed my plan w/o early notice.
I am so glad that we choose to stay here. The staff could not do more to make your stay the best it can be. From the moment you enter the property you are welcomed with a smile and cold towel, the service and attitude is superb. Our room was beautiful, the pool stunning and food brilliant. I would recommend anyone to stay here, don't bother to look elsewhere.
The most beautiful hotel in Siem Reap”
La Residence d'Angkor is another stunning gem in Siem Reap. Bedrooms are spacious, stylish and comfortable. Amenities are fantastic, with a special mention to the swimming pool. Staff were extremely nice and helpful, and gave some insight tips to visit the city. We guard very special memories from La Residence.
Great location, ambience, and service!”
We loved our 3-night stay at the Belmond La Residence d'Angkor! The location is great, the ambience is fantastic, and the staff were wonderful! It is walking distance from the restaurants and the markets. The rooms, the bathroom, the pool, and garden are beautiful. We especially enjoyed our time in the pool and being served complimentary home-made ice cream or drinks. Every time we came back from the archaeological site, we were greeted with fresh, cold, lemongrass scented towels; every time we were greeted with the prayer hand gesture and friendly smiles; the hotel's early morning complimentary coffee and croissants helped us during our 3-hour morning visits to the sites (one needs to do this to avoid the heat). However, I would not eat meals at the hotel as they are pricy and not as good as the food at restaurants like Chanrey Tree. Mali's across the river has affordable breakfasts--both Western and local--for just $7 (and 3:50 for kids). Belmond needs to rethink their prices and menus for their breakfast buffets and the dinner buffets. I have certainly had much better buffets for more affordable prices at hotels in other parts of Asia.
Siem Reao Haven”
Great boutique hotel in Siem Reap. Rooms are large and luxuriously furnished. Lovely pool sufficient for doing laps. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Was able to have a slightly later check out at 3pm. Will stay here again.
Pleasant stay at the Belmond ”
We had a pleasant stay at the Belmond Siem Reap. The staff were helpful and courteous and the place was clean. Some construction going on next door but did not disrupt the quiet when we were in the room. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Nice Boutique Hotel”
This hotel has a fantastic layout with a great pool and comfortable rooms in a great location. Maybe choose the pool views rather than the street facing rooms as they can be noisy. There are a few small issues we had with the hotel given that it is 5 star like with certain staff members who are unable to think for themselves and can act like robots. During dinner there are a lot of waiters for a small number of guests but communication can be lacking. It would be better to have just one or two effective waiters with a bit of personality than a lot of "robots". This is common throughout the region so it may be unfair to single out this hotel. Also one other annoying thing was when repairmen start working on floorboards and drilling below our room at 8am. A bit of common sense should hare dictated that they wait until after the breakfast period and check to see if a do not disturb sign was placed outside the door before they started working.
A garden of tranquility in the middle of Siem Riep”
It was the perfect relaxing spot after all the Temple visits. Great resort, fantastic staff and a great Manager. I cant find any faults for my short stay(3 days). Its expensive but adequate. The only slight annoyance was some noise of a nearby building refurbishing going on, but mainly during the day, where we were out on visits, so only suffered it for half an hour or so.
A nightmare at a mediocre hotel”
For the price they charge, this hotel is not a 5 star luxury hotel. when we check in, the front desk person kept saying what a fantastic room we had been given. We had booked a deluxe pool side room and we were taken to 3rd floor, pretty far off in the other end of the hotel. We saw smoke coming out from the pool area and asked what that was. They said they were having a emergency renovation. They were digging and drilling at the pool. We decided to go out and spend some time outside of the hotel, hoping when back, the emergency renovation was done and over with. When we got back they were still drilling. We asked for a new room and also asked when they would be done with the renovation. We got the answer that it would take several days from 8 AM to 5 PM. That was when we called Agoda and tried to cancel our booking at the Belmond. The Agoda representative told me that he had to call the hotel and ask them about this. When he called me back, he told me that the hotel management had said that the renovation was not at the hotel and it was the sound from outside hotel. This angered us since they were lying. So we took pictures of the renovation of the pool and we just checked out. Fortunately Agoda wrote to us and offered us a cancellation of the remaining 2 nights. We went not far from Belmond. Surprisingly is cheaper than Belmond but much much better. I can not understand why people should stay anywhere else.
Extraordinary hotel - Top notch service”
This is definitely one of the top hotels we have ever stayed at and we have traveled extensively internationally. The hotel architecture is beautiful and culturally appropriate. The food is excellent and varied and we ate many meals in the dining room. The service by the staff is extraordinarily attentive without being excessive. The spa was a wonderful relaxing experience. For the business traveler or the tourist, this hotel is a special place to stay.
Excellent friendly staff”
We were there couple months ago on a short holiday, we requested an airport shuttle and some city tour to Angkor wat and other historical site, all staff was so helpful and accomodative to our requests. You can also expect a gentle and polite friendliness. Hotel area is near city centre, either by walking or taking tuktuk. Our room is very spacious, nicely decorated, modern yet still traditionally authentic. Also huge bathroom, bathtub, separate shower room, separate powder room, and walk in closet. It also has inside living room, and outside terrace. Wonderful.
Kmer-style boutique hotel”
A small yet elegantly designed boutique hotel nestled on the river bank of Siem Reap downtown.Spacious room decorated in pure kmer style with balcony facing a lush tropical garden or river.Conveniet location with 5-10 minutes stroll away from pub street. If you would like to enjoy a bit of peacefullness and exclusiveness and steer away from group tour tourists, La residence is the right place you can go for.
Had a great stay in a lovely hotel. Weather was not great (drizzled for most of our stay) but the room was spacious and inviting enough that we were happy to chill there. Unfortunately we didn't make use of the lovely pool, but we had a swim in the tub instead!
