Our four-night stay at the Berjaya Resort was fabulous. The forest and beach environment was beautiful, and the room was clean, spacious and everything worked. The resort is 35 years old and it shows in places but everywhere seemed to be well maintained. The TV in the room was not smart and channels were very limited. However, this is not a resort you arrive at to watch TV. The breakfast restaurant was full every morning but the crowd was well managed and the choice of food was good, Western and Asian. All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and professional. The only negative point is the fact that the resort is built into a hillside. The result is that you cannot go anywhere without going up and down steps and stairs. So, if you are elderly or have some lower limb disability, you will have a problem. That said, I am 71 years old with a degree of osteoarthritis in my knees and I managed. Overall, a wonderful stay and my partner and I would happily go back to Berjaya Resort.

My husband and I stayed for a week at the start of January. We had a jungle chalet room which was lovely, we were also lucky enough to have a sea view. The decor is fairly traditional Malaysian style I would say. We found the bed and pillows very comfy and the room had both a ceiling fan and air conditioning so we always felt comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated but was all clean and functional. The shower was really good. We enjoyed the walk through the jungle to and from breakfast each morning. The hotel also offers buggies for lifts if you didn’t want to walk. The jungle is home to a fair few monkeys, birds, lizards and flying lemurs. We loved spotting and seeing the animals regularly as we went about our day. They keep their distance. The pool and beach are both beautiful with plenty of comfy sunbeds and towels for guests. We really enjoyed our time by the pool. The sea was warm and I did swim a couple of times in it but was put off going in sometimes because of jellyfish in the area. The buffet restaurant was exceptionally good for both breakfast and dinner. Plenty of choice and everything we had was super tasty. We had breakfast included but paid to have dinner there a few nights too. The bbq buffet was really tasty. We ate at the beach bar too which was nice although we felt the menu could’ve had more Asian food on offer. On our final night we ate at the Thai restaurant which was very tasty. We did find it to be a bit expensive but I guess that’s to be expected at a restaurant inside a hotel resort. Lastly we found all the staff at the hotel were so very helpful and kind. They couldn’t do enough for you and definitely enhanced our stay as nothing was too much trouble. Our only gripe is that the hotel is right at the far end of the island so is a little drive to get around or to go out to any other restaurants. We caught Grab taxis some evenings to go out and also hired a scooter for a couple of days to explore the island ourselves. The hotel is close to the sky cabin gondola which is worth a visit and also the 7 wells waterfalls. You can walk to both or the hotel has a shuttle service to and from the sky cab area. Overall a beautiful hotel resort to relax in while enjoying nature.

Its a great hotel with spacious rooms and great service”
I stayed recently at the Berjaya for 4 days 3 nights at the Rainforest Chalet. I love my room as it was so spacious for 3 people and the price for an extra bed was very reasonable compared to many other hotels. A little hiccup with the room but they were nice to change room when I requested it. I like how I can communicate with the guest team on whats app and also call them for help and their response were very swift and super helpful. I must say I am very impressed with the housekeeping team too as they did a good job in cleaning the rooms well and its not easy as its a big hotel with many individual chalets. It was raining on the last day and I can't imagine how they go around cleaning from chalet to chalet in the rain. I like how the minibar is free to use and they replenish it too. We saw a big monitor lizard from our balcony by the tree. Its nice to be near nature and saw monkeys too. I really enjoyed my stay at Berjaya because the service was excellent. Yes, they are a bit dated compared to the modern hotels but thats also their appeal, very rustic and appealing to us. Jamal was very helpful with our changing of rooms. Everyone always put on a warm smile and super helpful. Their breakfast was really good. A lot of choices. The fire show was nice, glad we went down to watch it. Bring a mosquito repellant though there are mosquitoes around. We did the evening nature walk with the guard and that was rather enjoyable, first time seeing fruit bats. Overall a great stay. and would recommend anyone who loves nature and open to no perfection and just enjoy the ocean, forest and their service. A treat from my parents to me. Awesome stay. Everything about it was terrific. From dining, rooms and staffs were all great. Didnt know my room came with a package that included teatime and dinner. So many options to choose from with a range of RM150 per person everyday throughtout my stay. Really worth it! The only downside was my 1st villa got blacked out so many times after fixing it. But ended up, we got a last minute upgraded to seaview villa after a few calls. Aircon were great too! Rooms were clean and very spacious too.
